Clutch and affordable for a large group. Always friendly and some creative pizza combos that will surprise you how good they are (like the pastrami Ruben pizza)! Greasy, yes. But perfect for a day in the pool after some drinks.

A fucking joke. The food is broiler or microwave finished. It's embarrassingly awful.

For our wedding anniversary, we traveled across the river to Annarellas Ristorante on 276 Malden…read moreTurnpike in Saugerties We arrived early as we were traveling about an hour away and we're aware there were many detours as the Malden Bridge is undergoing repairs.  I'd read about Annarellas prior to this, and based on glowing reviews chose this to mark 50 years together, 39 as husband and wife...long engagement! We were not disappointed. We were seated promptly by our lovely hostess, and Shaun immediately came over to recite specials and to take our orders. He was attentive and we knew we were in good hands! We started with the Dr. Fox Cocktail: Angostura bitters, Bulleit Rye, Apple Liqueur, Dry Curacao, and Sweet Vermouth, which was perfect. It was accompanied by a hummus trio to spread on the bread. There was also a delicious foccacio. Next we were served a perfect salad, delicately dressed, and what made the salad so delightful was that the lettuce was torn into manageable pieces. A pet peeve of mine is large lettuce leaves that are difficult to wrangle, and this was not the case here. There were also tiny bits of cauliflower that gave the salad a nice texture and crunch.  I had the Stuffed Artichoke and my husband had Shrimp Gamberi on an Arugula salad. Both were substantial and beautifully seasoned. We had two glasses of an Argentine Tomero Malbec. It was a generous pour. For the main course, I had Polla al Limone (Lemon Chicken) over spinach. A simple dish done well. My husband had the Halibut special, a classic Mediterranean baked halibut with tomatoes, capers, and olives. So good that he finished it all...a rarity for him. (The halibut was pricey and it would be appreciated if the price was mentioned when the specials were gone over. Perhaps we should have asked.) We finished with a Sorbetto al Lampone, a tart raspberry sorbet in a dark chocolate shell and sliced.  And as we left, our sweet hostess brought over Lucianno, the most adorable puppy, to send us off with puppy kisses! We definitely will be back...especially for the wild boar ragu over pappadelles. One nitpicking observation. The entrance to the restaurant was a tad shabby. We mistook it for the service entrance. It needs to be spruced up to match the superb food inside!

Usually I like to pick what dishes are considered popular on Beli but I really wanted to try them, they're just too hot and not very satisfying to kick off your palate. The bread was okay, a little (very) messy and the hummus trio was cute but not necessary or particularly tasty. The pollo al limone and gamberoni e fagioli were good, a little dry but not a deal breaker. Service was nice, the place is pretty casual so I would recommend for a regular casual date night, it's not fine dining--the experience was nice but not luxurious. What I mean is it's cozy and inviting, not elegant and stuffy. Cheers!

It honestly takes a really good pizza from a 8/10 to a 5/10. The mozzarella has that block quality with a little bounce and squeak to the cheese rather than a creamy pull. That's my only complaint. The sauce is nice as well as the toppings and the dough. Crust is thin with a little sag, it's not new haven pizza, no char and not a lot of crunch or blistering. Most items are well portioned and enough to share between at least 2 people if sampling. Caesar salad is enough to share between 2 people if you want to sample the menu. Great lettuce quality and better than most restaurants. It's not the bagged precut garbage with all stalks. They use little gem variety. Fries are shoestring and oh so delicious to snack on. Not an insult, but if you like McDonald's fries, these are even better. IYKYK Meatballs were ok, nothing super special. Nice texture, but not dry. Doesn't really have a fresh flavor. The meat flavor reminded me of a mass produced meatloaf from a diner. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but for someone with a very refined palate, I think it needs a little "life" mixed in. The sauce helps that a bit. Cocktails were nicely done. You could taste all the flavors listed in the cocktail. Not overly strong and not weak. Definitely would come back to sample more food. For you native CT and Lakeville natives, be prepared to pay NY prices...

ORIGIN: Fern is located in a former firehouse that has been…read morerecently renovated and redesigned for commercial and residential use (an apartment is located on the second floor). Although largely serving Italian dishes, the chosen name of the restaurant -- Fern -- refers to the abundant flora of the surrounding landscape. Nature is woven into the design of the restaurant's interior, with several glass garage doors inviting streams of sunlight and fresh air into the space. Potted plants line the walls. ATMOSPHERE: The design is eclectic. The dining room has a concrete floor and is lit by industrial pendant lights that hang from the high ceiling. Chunky large plank wooden banquettes divide the space, mixed with several tables surrounded by hefty wooden library chairs. Mirrors, paintings, and dainty fabric-shaded sconces adorn the walls. The result is an innovative mix of simple, industrial, and graceful elements. Near the entrance, a long C-shaped bar connects two dining spaces. The design supports interaction between guests. The bay doors that once allowed volunteers to zip into action now allow fresh air to drift into the restaurant's dining rooms. Patios with cafe seating line two sides of the building and are marked by fragrant herbs and shrubs. During a summer evening visit I enjoyed the sweet honey scent of mature Sheep's Head Hydrangeas that was captured thanks to the verdant boundary at the restaurant's entrance. FOOD: Contemporary Italian cuisine is served at Fern, with house-made pastas and wood-fired pizzas dominating the menu -- gluten-free options fully available for both. Sample menu items include: Bianco Pizza (ricotta, mozzarella, pecorino, crushed pistachios, thin slices of crisp garlic, spicy honey drizzle) Garganelli (hand-rolled tubular pasta surrounded by blistered tiny tomatoes, roasted garlic, mozzarella, and basil) Fluke Crudo (slices of fluke and radish, topped with basil oil, crispy shallots slivers, and begonia flowers) Chocolate Budino (Valhrona chocolate pudding topped with whipped creme fraiche and toasted coconut) SERVICE: Service is uneven, and at times unwelcoming. You will find others here have reported the same.

After moving to a town in Massachusetts about half an hour north of Mario's, we were thrilled to discover this restaurant since we came from an area known for outstanding dining, Mario's keeps up to that standard. If comfort had an address, it would be Mario's. We always kick things off with a small pizza for the table, because that's the law here. The bread and tomato relish? Should be sold by the gallon. I would pay an irresponsible amount of money for it. If you know, you know. Last night's table lineup was elite: * One of us ordered the veal Neapolitan -- fresh, tender veal in a vodka sauce so good it should have its own fan club. * Another went for the penne alla vodka with shrimp and scallop, which was hands‑down the best dish of the night. The seafood takes an already top‑tier vodka sauce and somehow makes it even better. As a Jersey boy, I don't say that lightly. * I decided to go rogue and step outside my usual penne vodka or steak. I wanted veal parm. I've never had anything fried here besides the calamari (which is amazing), so I figured: why not? Here's the plot twist: The veal parm was the only dish I've ever had at Mario's that didn't hit the usual Mario's standard. The veal itself was totally different from the fresh, delicious cut in the Neapolitan, and the breading had a little... funk. Almost like it had been prepped ahead and picked up a freezer‑burn vibe. Not bad -- just not Mario's‑level magical. But here's the thing: One imperfect dish doesn't change the fact that Mario's is one of our all‑time favorite restaurants. The atmosphere, the people, the consistency, the warmth -- it's all unbeatable. We love this place and will absolutely be back, probably embarrassingly soon. Mario's is home. Even when one dish misses, the experience never does.

I'm not sure if it was an off night, but unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite and I'm not sure I would go back. There are definitely a lot of pros, it was easy to make a reservation, we were promptly seated at a clean and quiet table once we arrived, and the service was overall pretty timely. However, the food and drink left a little bit to be desired. As vegetarians, split a pizza (the olives and mozzarella one) and the kale salad. The salad was fine, but the carrot and tomato was pretty sparse, and the kale felt like nothing had been done to it, like it hadn't been massaged or seasoned or anything so it had a very raw flavor. The pizza was super salty and felt very onenote. It felt like the sauce was a little bit salty, and then the olives, garlic, and oregano were just all very savory. At the end of the night we split a bread pudding for the table, which also wasn't my favorite - the bread was really hard and just hadn't been soaked enough in whatever the flavoring was to mask it. It's possible that they do much better with the meat dishes?

After one dinner, I can confidently say: waiting that long was a major strategic error on our part. Walking in, the ambience immediately hit us. It felt transporting -- like one of those small, incredible places you stumble into somewhere in Italy. And I don't mean the "strip mall, giant portions of red sauce, Sinatra on repeat" Italian spots (no disrespect... I'm from New Jersey, I was raised on those). I mean real deal, authentic, thoughtful Italian cooking in a space that feels intimate and special. The menu is focused, authentic, and clearly executed with confidence. Honestly, I have no food allergies and at one point I realized I could probably close my eyes, spin around, point at the menu like I was playing darts, and be thrilled with whatever showed up. We committed fully to the experience: multiple appetizers, entrées all around, dessert, coffee -- basically the kind of ordering strategy that makes a server look at you and think, "These people came to eat." And somehow each dish was better than the last, which is both impressive and slightly unfair to the dish that came before it. Service was warm and attentive, though a little mysterious in structure. Several different people helped us throughout the night and none identified their roles. At some point I stopped trying to figure out who our official server was and just assumed Geppetto's operates on some kind of Italian hospitality relay team system. Whoever it was, they were all great and made the night feel personal and welcoming. Now for my two pieces of feedback, offered with genuine affection. First: our charming rustic wicker farmhouse chairs had just a touch of sag. Three members of our party are over 6'2" and about 240lbs, and there was a brief silent moment where we all wondered if the chairs were about to become part of the evening's entertainment. Thankfully they held strong. If those chairs could talk, they'd deserve a glass of wine. Second: the bread was fresh and delicious but leaned toward a very crusty baguette situation. Great bread, but it made some appetizers a little bit of a jaw workout. I'd love the option of butter or olive oil alongside it. But honestly... if those are the only things I can come up with, that should tell you everything. If you haven't been to Geppetto's, go. If you have been, go again. It's one of those rare places that feels elevated without feeling pretentious -- the kind of restaurant that makes you slow down, order dessert even when you're full, and immediately start planning when you can come back. After waiting ten years to try it, I can promise you one thing: We will not be waiting ten more.
