Today 11/18 Randy from state termite exterminator came to my apartment to treat for roaches. As embarrassing as it is, I was ready to move because of the infestation. I was once a certified exterminator myself. So, I had a pretty good plan of how to treat. Randy mentioned that I had a good attack which made it easier for him to come in and drop the bomb.LOL. Randy first became with intense observation in places which identified activity. He used flashlight and smell to detect heavy locations. Looked for points of entry and water sources. THEN, he began treating with baits in areas I wouldn't have considered. He focused on kitchen and bathroom. Afterwards, he started base board treatment. I pulled everything from lower cabinets, pulled refer and stove out. In the kitchen and bathroom Randy used to types of aerosols. Talked to me about long and what I should expect to see from my unwanted roommates. He reminded me of how and when to clean up. This Bruhdah, was first class and top notch. I didn't actually use this company yet. They are coming out tomorrow to do a termite inspection because I have a serious termite problem occurring. This was only discovered after trying to renovate. This review is about the amazing office staff. I left a message and Michelle promptly returned my call. She was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and informative. She also worked a miracle by having a termite inspector come to my house by tomorrow morning. I spoke to Michelle after 2pm today. I have other contractors on hold since this termite problem just reared it's ugly head. Knowing that, Michelle made sure to accommodate my needs. I'm sure the termite inspector will be amazing as well. I will update my post after the inspection and treatment. She also helped me save money by giving me some tips and tricks that they use to mitigate my termite and pest control problems. Long story short, my neighbor neglected his property. After several neighbors complained, since it was becoming a rodent den, he knocked it down without treating the rodent problem. I live next door. Alvin Fukuyama was recommended to do a termite inspection, and since I know nothing about pest control and did not have a lot of time to research every company on the island I scheduled the inspection with State Termite. Melody (who I think must be the office manager) was extremely patient with me as I explained some unusual circumstances. She was courteous, helpful, polite, and very professional. She also responded very promptly to my initial inquiry which was via email. On the day of the termite inspection, Alvin arrived punctually and introduced himself. After giving a cute State Termite-logoed tool that was a bottle opener and tape measure, he began to talk about basic termite information which I found to be very helpful. I was impressed by his knowledge, professionalism, and efficiency. There were no termites, thankfully, but we did get to see two dead giant cockroaches and one more crawling around. Therefore, I arranged a bug-spraying through state termite. Again, Melody was pleasant and professional, and accommodated my request for a weekend ASAP. On the day of the spraying, the tech called me to let me know when he was nearby and to ask about parking so there was no delay with the appointment. The tech worked efficiently and answered all of my questions. And since I have found numerous dead giant roaches but have seen no live ones, I feel it was effective. PROs: +Knowledgeable & a lot of common sense: Used them for our house inspection, and also called them when years later, we found some flying termite AKA drywood termite droppings around the outside patio. Alvin, who came out, was very nice and knew A LOT about termites in our area. Gave us some very practical DIY advice on preventative measures, and confirmed that we didn't have an active infestation (whew). +Efficient and good value: We recently did a preventative ground treatment service with them for subterranean termites, since the house hadn't had it before, and again they were incredibly efficient, nice, clean, and practical folks. Very reasonable and gave us a pretty precise estimate, based on square footage. Amazing! +Local company; yep yep! +Customer service: answers their phone during business hours! You get to talk to the same people more than once and they remember your name.Yay! +Accepts credit cards: pay by phone after the work is done, or mail a check if you prefer. Easy! CONs: Nuttin'. Note: address on Yelp (Koaha Pl) is different than on business cards (99-927 Iwaena Street), but phone number is the same (486-7378). Since they're coming to treat YOUR place, not sure how much it matters, but hey, it's intel. Would use them again. Alvin Fukuyama & his son came over to give me an estimate to tent. But after inspecting he said I didn't really needed to tent. The termite infestation was localized to an old Japanese tansu furniture and he said to take it to Chill Space to kill the termites. This saved me thousands of dollars of not having to tent and the Chill Space facility which has temperatures of -5 degrees froze and killed the termites and any eggs. Mr Fukuyama did not get any business from me and gave his advice freely so in the future after my Terminix contract expires I plan to switch to State Termite. Jeff H read more

THE WORST!!! Trying to schedule an appointment for a termite inspection on a home my parents just purchased in "as is" condition. They want to do renovation anyway and wanted the sale to go smoothly that they decided to do all of the inspections on their own. When I tried to schedule I was told that I needed various documents from escrow and the previous owners information. I told them that the sale had already closed and it has been paid in full with no mortgage. The lady on the phone (I think her name started with an M?) didn't seem to want to hear it. Basically argued with me that they needed all of this old information to do a termite inspection that my parents were paying for on a home they already owned. Now I can't speak for their actual service as we decided to go with another company. But their customer service needs some real work. They have a "better than you" attitude and if you don't do it the way they want it (regardless if they are wrong) then they will definitely give you the run around. read more
