I only got the initial inspection (which was free) but got insight on the many holes hidden within my unit that could be the culprit for the roach sightings. Sean seemed like an honest person; I got an upfront estimate on a quarterly maintenance program, but he also said the traps we already laid out could be enough to keep bugs out. He also let me know that there are other things I could do myself before committing to the maintenance program. Within a day or two I got a email with more details on the maintenance program, along with the pictures he took of each hole in my unit. I had a very disappointing experience. In July 2026, this company arrived to tent the house across from mine. Without my permission, the crew drove a heavy vehicle onto my driveway and lawn, leaving noticeable indentations. They also turned the vehicle's tires while on the grass, tearing up and damaging the lawn. I contacted the company by phone, left a message through their AI system (which is just horrible as you don't get to talk to a real person. Guess their way of not having to get back to you.) and followed up with a detailed email requesting that someone contact me to discuss resolving the damage. Despite these efforts, I have received no response. Mistakes can happen, but what is most disappointing is the lack of communication and customer service afterward. I simply wanted to discuss the damage and find a resolution, but my calls and email have gone unanswered. read more

Not sure on which company this review should be for so I'll be posting to Kilauea Pest Control too since they sent Pest Tech Hawaii to do the job of tenting for termites. I want to express my disappointment in the tenting crew and how they left my home with damaged gutter drains (2 out of 5). One was stepped on and completely flattened so the rain water has no where to drain out of. The second gutter drain was somehow yanked or knocked out of its position so hard that the screws holding them in place were ripped out. I understand and respect Kilauea Pest Control's contract stating that they have no responsibility for damage to gutters and other home property, so I'm not going to make a big deal of the 2 dented gutters on the house as well. However, it really bothers me that the way my gutter DRAIN pipes were carelessly handled. I JUST had those drain gutters installed 2 months ago. AND also every nozzle from my water hoses (all 3 hoses) were removed and left on the ground as is, with the hoses not put back where they were before the fumigation. AND the solar panel on my security light was turned backwards and the light panels were facing the wrong way. Could they not have simply turned it back the way it was? I also received a text from my not too happy neighbor on the day I was to return home informing me that my smoke alarm was blaring all night the night before. Should I have been advised by the tech that I might need to remove the batteries to these alarms before the tenting? I didn't get any courtesy notice of any damage. I simply came home to find these things on my own. Everything considered is a reflection of how the crew has such a nonchalant attitude towards providing excellent service. It was very disheartening because I actually loved the customer service I received from the office gals from both Pest Tech and Kilauea Pest. I was looking forward to and expecting the same kind of service from the work crew that I got from their office. I will NOT be using Kilauea and Pest Tech again. read more

Whenever I see a business advertise on television regularly, i sometimes wonder how good can they really be if they have to advertise a lot. Word of mouth usually gives a better indicator of the how the company is, rather than a funny (although entertaining) or razzle dazzle ad. Pest Tech is the company that offers the orange treatment alternative to tent fumigation. The focus of a long running commercial on television. Having choices is never bad, the commercial is pretty humorous but makes it's point. . After checking with some people we know, Pest Tech received high marks so we decided to go with them after comparing notes and proposals with other treatment companies. We had the house tented and started a ground treatment program. Tenting went well, everything went as they described. The ground treatment also went well with the technician answering questions and providing explanations along the way. The office staff was great as well and the billing went smoothly as did the scheduling. Their charge was very competitive. We look forward to a long and great relatiobship with Pest Tech. read more

I was extremely disappointed to know I was talking to a computer (AI) when I called to inquire about service. I was further disappointed that all of his detailed information gathering did not appear to be passed on to the office and/or technician. I was MOST disappointed that some of the information that Ian (AI) shared was not truthful . He indicated that the company used pet friendly natural products which was not true. I was less than satisfied with the actual service and the telephone contacts. I was signed up for quarterly service without my permission or awareness. I actually paid another company to do the service a few days later and was extremely impressed with all aspects of the experience and all of the things that were done that were not done by PestTech and improvements over what had been done. read more

Unfortunately, I need to update my review on Pest Tech Hawaii. The last few technicians who came after my initial positive review were not very good. After they left, I would find bait stations for my termite control unchecked. They seemed to rush through the property, and I did not get the sense that they cared about what they were doing. I'm supposed to be under contract with them, but they have not been to my property in more than half a year. They kind of just stopped showing up. I also got a invoice saying that they forgot to bill me for the last six months. They seem to be very disorganized. read more

They deserve less than 1 star but that is Yelp's lowest score. This company has no regard for people's time, money or property. They were chosen by a buyer for tent fumigation. The appointment was scheduled for a Saturday. No call and no show. Granted the weather was bad but there was no comnunication once the contract was signed. When I called on Sunday, I was told that the tent was not put on and they would do it on Monday instead. On Tuesday, the tent was removed and revealed extensive damage to the brand new roof. No one called to report it and instead the workers tried to say that all was good even if portions of the brand new metal roof were missing! A witness in the neighborhood saw a neighbor returning pieces of the roof which landed in her yard, the workers arguing, swearing at each other and one walking off the job. When I finally reached out to Aaron at Pest Tech three hours later, I was told that he hadn't heard about any damage. Later that evening I received an email stating that I needed to refer back to the contract which states that any damage to the roof will be the responsibility of the home owner. I replied to this message immediately. Pest Tech's owner Ian Mateo finally reached out 3 days later with the following statement copied directly from his email. "You are correct, roofs are expensive which is why we disclose that we may damage the roof and that we cannot repair or pay top repair post treatment. The value of roofs versus the value of our treatment swings exponentially towards the roof making it impossible to cover cost of repair." No responsibility taken and no aloha for the people of this island. Keep this in mind if you need service. Save yourself the headache and the money, go elsewhere. read more

Pest Tech Hawaii was the absolute worst when it comes to communication and timeliness. When fumigation is necessary, there are several things that need to be taken care of, but Pest Tech Hawaii doesn't take that into consideration. Based on the time they said they were arriving, we made arrangements for our lodging and pet care. However, they showed up about two hours late and NEVER called us. They never told us a time frame. We had to call several times just to find out when we could return, how long it would take, what time were they arriving, etc. Pest Tech Hawaii was contracted by Kilauea Pest. Pest Tech's lack of communication and their disregard for time are inexcusable. I will definitely never recommend them. Fumigation is a very stressful time and Pest Tech Hawaii showed no consideration and regard for us. They received one star only because that's the lowest mark Yelp allowed. My roof was damaged in the tenting process and the technicians were not professional and did not take care to tread lightly on my roof. I think this company has a few good sales representatives who interact well with the client to get them to sign up for their services, then they send out a team of unprofessional, untrained staff to do the tenting process so there's definitely a disconnect between what you get. I stayed around to watch the tenting process since they came so early, so I saw it firsthand. My interactions with the sale rep Dennis Mijo were A+. Nice guy, very thorough and knowledgeable. He definitely gives great service and he's responsive. That's why I went with this company. I got several other quotes, most of them were within $100-200 of each other. But it was the salesman's professional demeanor that made me choose this company. The process for tenting is they set a date with you, then call you the day before to let you know what time window they will come to do the tent the next day. Windows are 8-10am, 11-1, 2-4. I didn't get notified until 4:30pm that they were coming at 8am the next day. I called them a few times to check back and they kept saying the schedule wasn't ready yet. This was after I asked during initial scheduling if we could be tented on the later side of the day bc I work from home. They did not accommodate my request and I felt like I should have gotten notified about my time slot earlier in the day. The day of the tenting, a few guys showed up and they seemed like destructive clowns in their body language. They were literally falling around and clumsy, cursing and spitting. None of them had any kind of uniform to show what company they were with (one had a shirt of a different company). Not sure if it was a hangover or some other substance but they seemed "off". I definitely didn't feel comfortable with them inside my house and on my property. The day was sunny, no rain or wind. One of the guys fell down on my roof with a giant thud! He lay there motionless until another guy helped him get up. Another time the ladder slipped. And I had to tell them not to walk on my thin aluminum shade awning (anyone can see it's not built to support weight of people and ladders). I realize my house is an older one (1950's) and the roof is old, aluminum shingles. BUT now after the tenting, the roof is all dented in like the guys were heavy footed on purpose. My husband is 220 pounds and goes on the roof and doesn't dent it in bc he knows where to walk on roofs. These technicians were either untrained or just did not take care to not do damage. My roof now has a lot of dented in tiles and I'm hoping it doesn't compromise the integrity of the structure. Roof damage is probably worse than any termite damage that was there (if any). The technicians also left garbage in my yard behind them. Completely unprofessional behavior. The other suspicious thing about the tenting process is they only pump the poison in for a few minutes. I timed it and it was turned on for less than 5 minutes. When we came home, we did not see ANY dead bugs anywhere. The family of geckos were still there, alive and well. This makes me believe that we didn't get the right amount of poison pumped in. The tent was also on for less than 24 hours. It was on and pumped with poison around 9:45am and by 7am the next day, 2 of our neighbors texted us to say the tent was removed already. But I didn't get the "all clear" call until 4pm the next day. This would have been bad if we only booked the hotel for 1 night bc we would have been waiting around all day. In hindsight, I'd rather opt for spot treatment if we have termite issues. The amount of time and effort to prep the house for tenting is a lot. Bagging food and anything edible took me HOURS and several days. I also had to secure and move anything of value bc I did not want to get robbed while tented so that's another logistic to consider. It's also expensive to stay in a hotel, especially if you need one that's pet friendly. I would not do tenting around December bc the hotel rates are higher and if you have a Xmas tree in the house, it also has to be removed. I'm still not convinced that the tenting took care of any bugs and now my roof is damaged. The company has a lot of disclaimers in their contract saying they won't take any responsibility for damages incurred. All the termite companies are like this. So next time I'd rather mitigate the stress and risks for property damage and use a different company who does the spot treatment. Overall I do not recommend this company. I feel like I spent a lot of money ($1500 for the tenting of a house and garage that's less than 900 sq feet + $500 for a hotel) and now my roof is all dented. read more

We set up an appointment to have him come to my home to give me an estimate. He was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. After that we made an appoitment to go over what needed to be done to get the house ready for fumigation. He was very thorough and also gave me a photo pamphlet with instructions and a bunch of Bags to bag all my perishables. Day before the fumigation I received a voice message with the time frame (2-5pm) the tenters were coming. Day of the fumigation James came to my home in the morning (830am) to see if we needed any help with the preparations and to make sure everything was good to go for the actual tenting. He helped us rake the rocks away from the house, and helped with the fence planks. Then I got a text saying they guys were ready to start (145pm). They were professional and Kevin walked through our home to make sure we did everything correctly. I watched them meticulously put up the tent. It looked like a nice seal so that the fumigation gas would be effective. The next day I drove by to check in it at about 1pm. The tent was off and the lock was still on my home with signs saying the gas was still there and not ready to go in yet. At 236pm I got a text from Zara the clearing technician saying the house was safe to enter. I stopped by again to grab my amazon packages that were in the carport and was happy to see that they locked my house for me after taking off their locks. Our townhome complex is in the process of getting tented with them. We had an hour long meeting prior to the tenting and even went to the previous buildings while they were getting tented to confirm where the tent would be going(between the house and the fence). We were told to push our plants to along our fence in our patio as well as at least 5 feet away from the building on the other side. It was our buildings turn this past week and they ended up including our patio resulting in all my plants-some rare/expensive dying. My grandma who passed away 5 years ago used to grow palm trees, and I had a large one of hers on the other side of the house-not even included in the tenting, that they folded the tarps over and came back to it looking decimated. They even included a whole bush outside of the patio which is now dying. It's a shame that despite following instructions there was so much damage to even things outside of the tenting. I live on the ground floor of an apartment building. I signed up for Pest Tech. They did a terrible job spring all over my floors. I requested a redo they charge me for the redo. I tried to get a refund from them and then with my credit card company dispute the charge, I would not recommend them. They are sloppy and they lie do not go with this company. It's a waste of money. You can do your own ant and roach extermination with diet nations earth or white vinegar baking soda. I would not recommend anyone using this company since they charge my credit card for several months without doing the services. read more

We've been using Pest Tech for approximately six months now. We had a really bad infestation of roaches in our apartment. They were unable to exterminate the exterior because it's an apartment building, but whatever treatment they've been doing on the interior, we haven't seen but a couple stray roaches in the past few months. Even the gecko is gone. They've completed 3 treatments to date and the Communication is always on point. They call a couple days ahead for a reminder and the driver usually calls when he's on his way. We are under contract for a pretty reasonable price. We had noticed that ants were regularly swarming certain areas of the house, and store-bought treatment seemed ineffective. I contacted Pest Tech Hawaii and was helped by Sherie, who got us set up with a quarterly treatment plan. The price was very competitive (about the same for inside/outside of a house as I was previously paying for a one-bedroom apartment with another company) and even more so because we made use of a coupon we received in the mail. Sherie was great at answering all of my questions and was able to schedule us for the following business day. Our technician was Kamu, and he was friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful. He patiently answered all of my questions and obviously listened to my concerns. He put ant bait at key spots and sprayed throughout the inside the house. He then did the exterior of the house; I was pleased that he later pointed out areas that the ants were coming from and where they were swarming and that he even sprayed in the tight crawl space under the house. It's only been a few days since the treatment, but so far, so good! We haven't seen a single ant (alive, at least) and have noticed a number of dead roaches outside. I like that the treatment plan includes interim service calls if we notice pests in between the quarterly treatments. Hopefully we won't have to make use of that feature! read more

Sadly, I have to agree with Jennifer V's review. I really try to see the "other side" of the situation because I'm in the hospitality business and understand things happen. My primary company is Kilauea Termite, who partners with Pest Tech for termite tenting. I had picked a date for the tenting but had to ask for a new date due to my vacation days being denied. PT accommodated me with no problems. Day of tenting went well. It's the day of coming home that was frustrating. Like Jennifer and other customers, I was told a tech would come by and make sure the house was safe between 4-6 pm. We got home at 3:30 pm to start putting the outside of the house back in place. About 4:15 I called Camil @ PT and was assured someone would come by and text me when it was clear. No one showed up. I tried to contact the office but they were already closed. At 6:05 pm I emailed Kilauea and Pest Tech stating I waited and no one notified me it was all clear. The next morning I receive a call from Kilauea and they are apologizing about the miscommunication. After reading the reviews, it's a regular occurrence to give the same spiel and not follow through on PT part. The bothersome part is when we got home our outside was messed up. See attached photos with red circles. Couldn't post all of them here. Forgot to take picture of the breakfast sandwich wrapper one of the renters was eating on set up day. Thrown in my front yard.
