Instead of turning me back and telling me to contact the main office, the gentleman took care of me and let me get my car washed since I did have the bar code and was in the system. They didn't need to do that. When I called the main office, I left a message for Robin who seems to handle customer accounts and I'm sure myriad other tasks. I didn't know their hours and called right at closing time. i left a message explaining my issue and asked them to call me when they could next week. To my surprise, I got a call from Robin after their closing time. She wanted to make sure I was taken care of ASAP. They are a small business with old school values which include putting the customer first. seems like that should be obvious, but companies like Colonial Car wash are no longer the norm, but the exception. Money is tight right now like it is with most of us. However, even if Colonial Car wash didn't give me the best deal, I would still stay with them if the price was within reason. This is all due to the way they go the extra mile. Having been a captain in the Army, I can't help but notice little details about everything. Colonial must have a great training program and they also must be very proactive in ensuring quality control throughout the entire chain of command. I am not going to bad mouth any of their competition, but Colonial would have to raise their prices so that they were noticeably more expensive before I would even consider going somewhere else. I believe Robin said they have been in business for over 40 years so they run a smooth operation like a big business, but with a small business mentality and personal touch. Businesses like this are a dying breed, but it's great to discover a new one that is still old school.

The final charge was $22.60 for under 10 minutes of spraying water in the freezing cold. What a rip off!! Three workers did a great job-- Dried exterior. Wiped inside of windows. Cleaned inside of windshield which needed it! Cleaned dashboard. Wiped down inside of doors. Vacuumed under floor pads front and back. Vacuumed mats. Removed two boxes from trunk, removed fitted floor mat and vacuumed thoroughly. I declined air freshener because of allergies. There is a clean enclosed waiting room next to work area where you can view the cleaning.

They have outside vacuums, self-service bays, and three automated touch-free bays. Charges are $8 for basic, $10 for the 'deluxe' and $12 for the 'you don't really need that' wash. Downers are to get undercarriage washing (really the main reason you need to wash the car during salt/snow season) you have to get the $10 or $12, and like a lot of automated car washes, they're now charging extra for credit card customers now that they can, under the ruse of 'charging state sales tax' (which they have to pay on cash orders, too) but it's really because they are now allowed to chargeback customers for the credit card fees they pay but they're not honest enough to say that. For that I give them a little stink eye. That said, I thought the car wash wasn't that great. The undercarriage was not very long or with a lot of pressure, and the automated touch free system left gunk on my windows I had to spritz off afterwards, and the automated dryer was very tepid and underpowered. For the same prices I've had better automated car washes so probably won't be back unless it's a matter of convenience (as it was today).

If you're coming here, I'd recommend sticking with the basic exterior wash. In my experience, paying extra for the interior cleaning and other add-ons just wasn't worth the cost. If the service isn't provided at each carwash then I feel my bill should be adjusted or at least the attendants should say so prior to my wash. I definitely feel cheated. The interior clean was satisfactory but took longer than in the past. Is it challenging to get workers or is the company unwilling to hire more? Probably the former. The exterior clean is not as good here in CP as it is at the Hoffman on Troy Schenectady Road since it is a newer location. Also, the course and length of wash time are longer on Troy-Sch Road.
