I ran my debit card to be able to wash the Salt out of my matts. I ran the self serve spraying wash bay option. I only ran the sprayer for 9 minutes and change. They originally charged my card $12, so I thought they would adjust after and the amount would decrease. This was not the case!! The final charge was $22.60 for under 10 minutes of spraying water in the freezing cold. What a rip off!! I'm not cheap, that is crazy expensive and the math from hard money to card payment isn't aligned. read more

This review is just for the self-serve bays. I'm old school; I'm happy washing my car in a pay-as you-go bay where I'm in control of how much time I need and how much soap and rinse I want to use. I'm glad Colonial has a couple of these bays, but using them isn't quite as customer friendly as I had hoped, especially as a first time user. These bays do not have bill readers. They take credit cards, but you don't exactly get to select how much time you want. Instead, the screen will show increasing time/cost, and you have to remember to QUICKLY press the stop button when you think you've got enough... meaning I need to know in advance how much time and money? They're probably hoping you err on the side of caution and overpay. They also take coins, but only quarters and $1 coins. When was the last time you had $1 coins on you? (NOTE: You can probably get $1 coins and quarters at a coin dispenser on site.) I had a bunch of quarters all set though. It's 25 cents per 15 seconds, minimum of 8 quarters/$2.00. But you either need to have your hand on that spray nozzle or have a 2nd person handy, because as soon as you start adding coins, the countdown begins, which means I lost about 10 seconds getting quarters #2 through #8 in. There's also a time lag between when you switch from soap to rinse, which means you may want to switch to rinse maybe 10-15 seconds before you actually want the soap to stop. Having the ability to put all the coins in and then press "START" would be handy, like some other self-serve car washes I've used in the past. I did get my car clean, and I'll have a better idea how to handle this on future visits. It wasn't a bad experience, just not as good as similar service I've had elsewhere. read more

Apple Pay and Broadview does not work I spoke with the corporate manager Robyn on the phone her attitude was absolutely rude and disgusting. She talked over me, did not listen to my issue, and did not resolve my issue. Worst customer service I have EVER experienced. Wow. This is the best car wash I've ever had. First of all, real people work here. 2 people pre-treated our car by power washing it with soap and scrubbing it with a soft cloth brush, before sending it into the automatic cycles. Our car was caked with sand and dirt from winter roads up in ME, NH and VT, and we were expecting to have to do a double wash. One was plenty! Our car sparkled like new. There was also a free "salad bar" -- paper towels to wipe the car down with and get into all the little crevices that might have been carrying any residual grime. They also provided all purpose cleaner for the interior of the car and window/glass cleaner as well. And free vacuums equipped with air sprayers. Top notch car wash, we will definitely be coming back here whenever we're in the area! read more

This review is geared towards their main office. I had some issues with my account (no fault of Colonial). I purchased the monthly unlimited amount. Instead of turning me back and telling me to contact the main office, the gentleman took care of me and let me get my car washed since I did have the bar code and was in the system. They didn't need to do that. When I called the main office, I left a message for Robin who seems to handle customer accounts and I'm sure myriad other tasks. I didn't know their hours and called right at closing time. i left a message explaining my issue and asked them to call me when they could next week. To my surprise, I got a call from Robin after their closing time. She wanted to make sure I was taken care of ASAP. They are a small business with old school values which include putting the customer first. seems like that should be obvious, but companies like Colonial Car wash are no longer the norm, but the exception. Money is tight right now like it is with most of us. However, even if Colonial Car wash didn't give me the best deal, I would still stay with them if the price was within reason. This is all due to the way they go the extra mile. Having been a captain in the Army, I can't help but notice little details about everything. Colonial must have a great training program and they also must be very proactive in ensuring quality control throughout the entire chain of command. I am not going to bad mouth any of their competition, but Colonial would have to raise their prices so that they were noticeably more expensive before I would even consider going somewhere else. I believe Robin said they have been in business for over 40 years so they run a smooth operation like a big business, but with a small business mentality and personal touch. Businesses like this are a dying breed, but it's great to discover a new one that is still old school. read more

Here's an idea - customers drive to the car wash, so they're pretty observant on how to handle pulling up to the gates. The two minute corrective interview from the old bearded a-hole was not appreciated. There are other car washes in Guilderland, and the other one I went to today(12/9/23) was a-hole free. read more

You get more than a Great Wash. I had a minor problem with the automated brushless car wash. I alerted an attendant and the manager was right on it. He made sure I was satisfied with the resolution before I left. I'll definitely be back. Nice to know they care. read more

I come here all the time to clean my BMW. it makes my car look super clean. They have free vacuums and a self car wash.

I don't know what brushes they use or how often they keep them clean of debri but went through and a stone or some object stuck on their brushes scratched up my car. DEEP SCRATCHES through the clear coat. THEIR response was a buffing wax when I took it the detailer THEIR own detailer told me waste of time the scratches wouldn't come out. They are doing NOTHING about these scratches. So if I were taking my car I would probably go to a newer car wash where they have better cleaning and detection for debri. After my experience and talking with locals in the area many had similar experiences, scratches, wipers taken off, side mirrors ripped off, license plates taken off. My grandparents, my parents and myself frequently use colonial car wash and we all feel they are the best car wash in the area. I've been coming to the western ave location since I was a little girl with my family and wouldn't go anywhere else! The staff are always soo friendly and even the lady in the main headquarters is beyond kind and helpful. I see complaints on here and think - nothing in life is perfect and mistakes happen - give these people a break! So many car washes either damage your car or don't actually get it clean. Colonial has two attendants who pressure spray soap into every nook and cranny and scrub the entire car down to loosen stuck on dirt BEFORE you enter the automated wash. The result is a shockingly clean car. One of the best automatic washes I have been to. read more

I like to maintain a good hygiene for my car so I often get it washed and cleaned. The car wash itself is quick but thorough enough. Not thing they could improve upon though is the drying service. I am not sure if drying is included in the wash, but in most times I've gone, it seems as if it is not. Perhaps the one thing I enjoy the most from this place are the free vacuums. Colonial Car wash on Western is the best car wash in the Albany area. This is not saying much however. The drive through clean is more aggressive than the Hoffmans equipment but the drying service is worse. The quality of the clean is better than what you would get from a touch less bay. The Bottom Line: If you don't have the time or resources to wash your own car this is one of the better options. read more

I have been using this car wash for over a year now, at least twice a week. The vacuum's are free, and they try and keep glass cleaner there too, and have enjoyed the quality of the wash. UNTIL TODAY. I just got out of work and decided to swing through, while queued up for the wash one of their workers informed me that they were going to allow my to go through the wash with a roof rack. Apparently there was some damaged caused to both the car wash facility and someones car when something got caught on their roof rack. I think this is my favorite thing in the capital region. I have a small obsession with cleaning my car, I find it very relaxing and feel great once it is completed. There's 6 vaccums and they're all free and a free "salad bar" that has free all purpose and glass cleaner with two free rags. The service here is also great. You can also get a car wash or do a self serve car wash, both are pretty reasonable when compared to other car wash places - $8 for a basic self serve car wash and $10 for a regular car wash. This place is great, I highly recommend when you need a clean start. read more

I've gone to the car wash three times and twice the self wash has been soapy during the rinse cycle and the soap does not clear. This happened three weeks apart from each other. We complained and each time we were put through the touchless wash paid for by the management. The second time the guy said he received that complaint already... but why not fix it! I was in a car crash and my car was totaled at the beginning of the month. I have been trying to get a new sticker for my current car for the monthly wash plan I have already paid for - good luck. The number I keep calling, can't get a straight answer. Still not able to speak to a live person - she never picks up the phone. Guess that's $20 lost. I've been going there for over 15 years and i'm glad to see they updated their equipment. I love the Unlimited program as well as how they support the community. I will not be using Colonial Car wash again, after going through the foam brushes one of the spray arms came slamming down on my Jeep causing $570 in damage that they won't take responsibility for, this is ridiculous there Motto is " we treat you right" yeah ok! Make sure if you hear something strange check for damage before you drive away! They get tons of complaints and they won't take responsibility if you leave the lot. read more

The $29.99 unlimited car wash is a good deal. The big issue is cancellation. You lose 5 days because you have to cancel 5 days prior to your card being charged! I cancelled 3 days prior to when the charge was going to hit my bank and still my card was charged! Why can't you give a 24 hour cancellation or figure something else out??? Also, why can't I cancel at the carwash too? Why can't that be an option? Also, the woman you call to cancel and ask questions regarding the car wash cancellation is VERY VERY VERY RUDE and you end up getting a voice mail most of the time! I am disputing the $29.99 charge with my bank and hopefully it works!!! $29.99 for unlimited for a month is really 25 days if you decide you don't want another month. Also, when you cancel, you don't get an email confirmation or anything! What proof do I have that I cancelled??...calling the very rude woman who answers the phone to see if it was cancelled????
