Previous complainers must be talking about a different Scott. The Scott who came to our house on a frigid Saturday evening at 7 pm was courteous and fixed our heating problem almost immediately. He was sympathetic when my wife told him earlier in the day that we were elderly and had no heat. He squeezed us in very late in his busy day and we are grateful that he was able to help. Scott is extremely combative. This company installed a new heat pump for us through our home warranty. There were many issues with it and we had them out just about 15 times to try to explain to us why the heat pump wasn't kicking in the secondary blower anymore with the new unit. Never got a really straight answer other than that's how it's supposed to work. Last night the breaker exploded and our house almost burned down (now and exaggeration please see pictures). When i used Google AI to search for what the item was that exploded I found out it's a surge protector specifically for AC until and heat pumps that has been recalled since 2014. Upon speaking with Scott, he advised he's never seen one of these in 32 years of installing heat pumps and ac units. I'm pretty sure that means he has installed basically no ac units since ours is the first one they've ever seen. Additionally he argued with me about it having nothing to do with th AC unit which is highly unlikely seeing as the new ac unit is much different from the older one we had. It has much different electrical connections than the one they replaced and they had a lot of issues connecting the new one to begin with because we have nest devices. All in all, don't let this guy come to your house. He's an arrogant man who doesn't know what he's doing, clearly. read more

Scott is very hard to communicate with. They replaced a heat pump and air handler under a home warranty contract. We did an upgrade on the equipment and needed to pay the difference versus the warranty company's replacement coverage. The warranty company sent us an itemized list showing the amount we would owe State upon completion. Scott, however, has refused to provide us with his itemized list of the upgrade charges. We know we were overcharged on items such as permits, which were not required, and probably other items that were not required or not used. We have requested at least three times, from Scott, his itemized list, showing the charges. NO response. We are very satisfied with the equipment and the installation, but we know, as does Scott, that we were overcharged. A simple review of the invoice is all that we have asked to see. So far, only a generalized statement has been provided. Don't know if this is his normal business practice, or just his way with warranty contracts. BUYER BEWARE !! read more

State Heating & Air was assigned to home warranty claim for furnace. The tech (Ray) came out on Fri, Dec 12, 2025, advised cleaned furnace drain (advised he removed debris put them in the basement sink - regular bathroom, why put down a drain to clog and not a bucket). I wasn't aware an error light on furnace until tech left. Immediately called to see if he could come back, had literally just left. Admin called the tech, he advised the light was "normal" no need to come back. Drain was issue. Heating issues and shut off continued so I called over the weekend to advise it wasn't fixed. Monday they called and advised the owner, Scott would come out Tuesday, Dec 16, 2025. Scott came out and advised he cleaned the drain as well and proceeded to inform my husband that the heat exchanger was bad and that the unit was installed incorrectly and would need replaced and installed correctly. Scott called me to advise the warranty company declined the claim and would not cover replacement due to improper installation and proceeded to "sell" me a unit for $7999 that he could install the next day. Go figure. I contacted the warranty company to advise it was not installed incorrectly and they advised me to get that in writing from a second contractor if that's the case. I contacted the HVAC company that had replaced our A/C the summer of 2024 (through our home warranty) and the owner came out that same afternoon and actually cleaned the drain (he called me to advise they had NOT actually cleaned the drain at all) and confirmed unit was in fact installed correctly. Claim was approved but they wouldn't allow us to switch contractors. sent us a total out of pocket due over $2,000 to State Heating for services not covered for replacement (detectors we had Nest ones already and inflated permit, etc). They are not a reputable company, refused to let them back in my home. Replaced for more money but piece of mind that these crooks didn't do the work. read more

Our furnace was making a strange noise that didn't sound normal. We called home warranty and they sent out State heating and Air Conditioning where we were told that it was "fine". Upon removing a certain part (unsure the name, I am not good at this stuff) we found that it was filled with water. The technician replaced the whole part and found that another part needed replaced as well, so it was replaced. The next day, our furnace would not even turn on. I gave them a call and they said they would pass the message along, and when I called the office, it turns out they never passed along the message. The message was that we have NO HEAT WHEN IT IS 30 DEGREES OUTSIDE. So I called again Friday morning and again told them that we have NO HEAT AND WE ARE FREEZING AND THE HOUSE IS 50 DEGREES. They told us no one can come until Monday!!!!! We are freezing in our house and our dog is too!!!! They don't care! Read the reviews and am not surprised by what people are saying. The tech was friendly and I do believe he came to do his job , but the company itself is the issue. UPDATE: IT IS NOW MONDAY AND WE ARE STILL WITHOUT HEAT BECAUSE THE TECH "CALLED IN SICK" AND THEY HAVE NO ONE ELSE TO SEND OUT TO FIX IT. THEY ARE SAYING NO ONE CAN COME TO FIX IT UNTIL WEDNESDAY. Our heat went out 2 days before Christmas and a winter storm was in the forecast. State Heating and air was here the next morning with electric heaters. Called several times to have the unit looked at and no one ever calls back unless you tell them your going to report them. No one has the knowledge to figure out why the unit is not working. They say its working but the house is 84°. I would never recommend this company at all to anyone and I will be telling everyone I know and posting it wherever I can. Thanks for ignoring our calls. My home warranty company called them and Scott, the owner, came the next day. My furnace needed a part that the home warranty company had to order, so Scott could not fix it that day. When the part came in he sent one of his associates to fix the furnace, my grandson was the one home, and I guess I didn't explain properly so he paid Everett the amount to fix the furnace. In cash. When I called the office to let them know... This was on a Monday since I didn't realize what had happened, Scott actually came by my house to give me the cash!
