Not satisfied at all. The cement is chipping and crumbling in spots on a one year old driveway that cost $20,000. Alba's response was "Unfortunately, ALBA does not warranty against spalling due to the conditions and climates that exist." I do not recommend this company at all! read more

Terrible company. Gave them a deposit and had to wait a year to get a new driveway. They refused to refund the deposit. Once the driveway was completed, they didn't clean up very well. Now, after 2 years, the driveway is crumbling and they aren't doing anything about it. They asked for samples of the driveway and have been having it "tested" for 3 month. We're getting our lawyer involved to either get a full refund or a new driveway. read more

How disappointing. After taking a loan out for thousands of dollars, we replaced our gravel driveway with concrete. We decided with Alba, who seemed kind and like he actually cared for his customers. We are less than four years with our driveway and we have cracking, crumbling, and staining. Then when speaking with the owner was told... "go ahead and take me to court, you'll lose". We couldnt afford to take him to court anyways because we're already out over 20k and drained our accounts to pay for his horrible work. We got this driveway so our three kids can have a place to play and ride their bikes, now we're stuck with this. He doesn't care about his work. He doesn't care about the hard working people he is effecting when he does his projects, and doesn't care to show pride in what he does. My husband works so hard to afford things for his family and seeing crumbling/cracking driveway is a daily reminder that there are always horrible people out there to rip you off they you have the opportunity. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY and will continue to give horrible reviews. read more

We have had two projects done at our home and have used Alba both times. Our patio was block and we had that torn out with stamped concrete put in. It looks AMAZING! This last project was our driveway. The asphalt had to go so we had them tear this out and pour concrete as well. It looks FANTASTIC! It started off Ok. Good communication, timely project. The day they finished my walkway they quietly left when they finished while my husband was home, working remote. We estimate it was likely an hour by the time my husband realized they had left. When he looked everything looked well done-except there were fingerprints by front door of our new walkway. Quickly we called to address the problem. They claimed innocence/immunity and that in no way could it have been them but someone else. (We do not have children and are surrounded by retirees with wheelchair ramps). I spoke with someone supposedly in charge who became furious I questioned their work. This woman hung up on me. At the end of the day, they are not professional and even Amazon takes a photo of the $15 package they deliver. Maybe ALBA should invite the customer to look over the work prior to their departure, take a picture of an unscathed job done and refrain from rudely hanging up on a customer. read more

I paid close to $5000 in April and did not hear from them until late August when I called to see what was going on the job began September 20th. When the job was done I noticed my backyard gate couldn't close because they did not check to see if the gate lined up with the hole on the ground so the gate can be closed. read more

Alba was sub contracted by another company to supply the concrete portion of my remodeling construction. The first time they poured the garage floor and driveway the garage flooded every time it rained and the driveway pitted and crumbled. Alba said this was an expected result because of the local weather. I forced a replacement because i hadnt paid for it yet. After just one winter the replacement it just as terrible as the original. Alba poured a sidewalk in our condo complex. During the construction, they wrecked a large area of lawn and beds with their heavy equipment. Their remediation was a disaster, using fill dirt instead of the promised topsoil. That topping was full of sticks and stones, which they never cleaned up. The surface of the sidewalk was discolored from the beginning due to a faulty sealant sprayer. Now after only one winter it is spalling, cracking, and crumbling. A year later, still no remedy. There attention to detail, and finished product was superior. AL and the guys in the field were polite and payed attention to the surroundings on the project. We needed a contractor to replace two and a half foundation walls in our large century home. Contacted many contractors with few results. I got the name of ALBA Contractors from the Lake County Building Inspectors office. Al came out, we discussed the job and signed a contract. Al was very helpful. Job started as discussed considering the wet summer which delayed many construction jobs. Workers were a little too much like construction zone workers considering my wife was home all day. There were a lot of last minutes things that needed to be done by me that I would have liked to know about in advance. The office was great to work with. Always got back to me and answered my questions. Al would answer my emails. There was a problem on the job and Al brought in an engineer to look the job over and give some recommendations. Very nice touch. This was a big job that not many contractors wanted to do and I would hire ALBA again. read more

I hired Alba Contractors to fix a crock/drainage pipe issue that kept flooding in my backyard. Unlike other contractors, Alba came out and took the time to assess the work that needed to be done, and then explained step by step what they would do to fix my problem. They called ahead to let me know when the work would start and showed up as promised. They completed the work within a day and left my yard cleaned up and neat when finished. The price was very competitive for the amount of work that needed done. I appreciate the professionalism exhibited, and they were very friendly and personable to work with. I would not hesitate to recommend them, and if I ever need further work in the future I plan on calling Alba Contractors first. I can't thank them enough. read more

Dissatisfied with the business part of the deal. Was given a verbal estimate on what it would cost to do the job. The ground was sloped and it was explained to me that the edges had to have extra concrete to bring it up to the needed level, which I understood. A few days later they sent me a written proposal that was $350 more than what the gentleman told me. Since there was a little more concrete involved, that was ok with me. Being satisfied with the proposal, I gave them a check for 1/3 of the total amount as required. When they started the job, I wrote a check for the second 1/3. After the job was completed, I had a check ready for the last 1/3 as paid in full. I was handed the final billing only to find an added charge of $200 for extra concrete. I thought that the extra concrete was included in the original proposal. Me like an idiot wrote another check for $200 fearing they would turn me in to collections. I called and spoke to a lady (twice) to get this issue resolved to no avail. Very surprised that a well known company as this would take advantage of their customers, especially senior citizens. Hopefully the quality of their work turns out to be better. read more

We got an addition to the original driveway when we moved into our house 4 years ago. At the time, the old driveway was 9 years old and looked great and alba came and matched it very well. Fast forward 4 years... Our driveway is broken into two sections, the old and the new that alba did. The old still looks great: no discoloration, no cracks, no pitting. The new has 2 large cracks in it, has yellow spots of discoloration throughout, and towards the back is pitting and breaking apart. When we contacted the company they said they would send someone out to look at it. 3 weeks later we received a very-clearly prewritten form they have on file to send to people who are unhappy with their work. Essentially what the paper said is these things happen, we need to pay to get it resealed professionally and we should not use salt in the winter. My biggest issue is I have done nothing different from the old driveway to the new as they are connected. The old is 9 years older (13 total) and looks great. The new looks bad already after only 4 years. Furthermore, my wife has called asking to speak to the owner who is 'on the road'. She said she didn't need to hear back right away but wanted to hear back in a two week timeframe. That was three weeks ago. I am highly disappointed with this company, top to bottom. I understand concrete has variables that make things happen unexpectedly, but the personal touch is completely lacking. They do not care to have repeat customers. I will be using JT's as the company to reseal my driveway. Very disappointed. read more

Al came out to assess my garage foundation today. His assessment matched what I paid good money to a Structural Engineer to tell me. Al confirmed that there were no major structural issues with the foundation, and he only recommend that it be tuck pointed (a minimal expense). Al didn't know I had an engineer look at it, so he could have easily lied and took advantage of the situation. I've had bad experiences with contractors in the past, but Alba is great. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I was looking to replace a worn out patio and contacted 3 contractors. All were about the same price but decided to go with Alba being a local Mentor business. I started this process in the Spring of 2014 and paid my deposit several months later as requested when the job was tentatively scheduled. I was put off until October of that year stating weather delays, blah...blah...blah, this should have been a red flag. The job was completed and overall the stamped patio turned out very nice. The following spring the patio cracked around the steps and all the way across the length of it and not in the relief saw cut that was made. For two years following I got nothing but run around as to a solution to this, they put a "special caulk" in the crack which made it look even worse because it was put on too heavy and wiped off but it didn't come off. Finally I was told told the best thing to do is just power wash it and seal it. By then I was so disgusted with the entire staff and crew for the unreturned calls and delays that I just agreed so I could just to move forward in life and finish up the planting around it. I look at it everyday now and just am disgusted with the way I was treated and would never consider using them again. So much for supporting a local business. read more
