Have been back many times. They have added some great items to your choices including pickled beets, marshmallow fluff etc. I tried to order a screamer style like the skooks. It was similar but not quite there. The waitress knew what I was talking about but there was no screamer sauce to choose from. Still i have created something amazing burgers here and will go back. This is hands down the best burger place in Centre County, and has some of the best burgers we've ever had (and we're from Dallas!). Every ingredient is perfect and we've tried different combinations every time we go and they have all been worth it. The reason we didn't give this place five stars is the service. People are very nice but incredibly slow and not on top of their tables, even though it's a small place and it's usually not crowded. This means be prepared to wait, very patiently. We have also tried ordering takeout a number of times but so far it's been a no-go. Phones don't work or nobody answers. But please, if you're in the area, enjoy a magnificent burger in a beautiful town. And get the cheese curds, you'll be glad you did. read more

This place is perfect and epitomizes the "New Bellefonte" cuisine. (Yeah, that's right, we have cuisine now.) Basically, you can get a burger any way you want with fries any way you want, and they're tasty and not too expensive. Don't come here because you want a turkey sandwich. You can't have a turkey sandwich. You can have a burger. You can have a vegetarian burger, a salmon burger, or a chicken burger, and you can have your burger with no bun. You can have your burger with a fried egg and bacon on it, but you cannot have egg-salad. You can also name your burger. On a busy Friday night they seated our party of 6 in under 15 minutes. Service was fast and very friendly. Decor is well done with with high-top tables, food served on metal trays and faux newsprint liners, and a funky flair to the decorations, all done with a solid sense of class. My one complaint was the plastic, stemless wine glasses provided for the two bottles of wine that we brought from the Happy Valley Wine Cafe (collected across from Governor's Park en route to dinner). For the six of us, the bill was $44 including tax and tip, drinking only water and wine. My wife and son had been for lunch earlier that day (and made the recommendation that led to dinner), and two meals including a shake and two soft drinks were just over $22. All-in-all, State Burger is a great add to the local scene, strongly recommended, and a new mainstay in our local restaurant selection. read more

I tried to go here with my mother who is disabled. She walked in with her cane and out of breath, they could obviously tell she can't move around easily. They tried to sit us at one of their high tables, I told the hostess that "We can't sit there, my Mom can't reach" and they didn't apologize or try to accommodate us by having us wait for a table that was lower. She just looked at me and (rudely) said "we only have 4 regular tables." I was very upset, I couldn't even talk to the hostess, so we just left. read more

Their appetizers are inventive with their twists on classics, their customizable burgers offer patrons the ability to get creative with flavors and textures, and their milkshakes are top notch. I've only been here once but i loved it! You basically build your own burger in a completely customized fashion. They have all the standard toppings and a bunch of unique ones as well (marshmallow fluff, etc). They have a salmon burger option and veggie patty as well if you don't eat meat. We arrived at one and were told we had to wait 45/60 minutes yet there were several empty tables 20 minutes later we were told there was a shortage of help in the kitchen. The burgers here are AMAZING. My husband and I went for a Saturday date night. We loved the customizable burger options. Down side: we were there for 50 minutes before we got our food, and 15 before we even saw our waitress to get drinks. However, the waitress was wonderful and apologetic, and even offered a free appetizer for the wait. I think we'll stick to non-weekend nights from now on. Also, if you do decide to go on a weekend, make sure you make a reservation! We did, but saw people waiting for 30+ minutes for a table. read more

Hands down the dirtiest restaurant in Bellefonte. Not to mention I overheard two of the cooks laughing at a local bar about how they reuse their plastic gloves even when taking out the trash. My wife and I complained about the hair that was found wrapped around one of my french fries and the wait staff & management laughed and said it must have come from me, however I don't have a hair on my head. I'm gonna keep this as simple as possible after attending the bill for YMCA playing some basketball with me and my friends we decide to go over to State Burger and have a meal we usually go there after we play some basketball so this time is like no other time me and my little sibling got accused of stealing two burgers get this or 15 and 11 years old why they decided we saw the burger not too sure but the waitress said that we were bulling her and again don't know where she got this from but let me just describe this occasion me my sibling we were sitting there waiting for our food we had a drink but we have no food so we sat there waiting for food asked multiple times were food was and then they just said your food is on your way your food is on your way so we waited patiently and finally after receiving our checks The waitress comes up to me she hands me my bill and I said I tell her I never received my food why am I being tortured this and she says are you sure and I said yes I'm positive I get it she takes it back in the manager comes out he says we handed out all The trays It's a sure there's no possible way we didn't receive are food at any moment and he tells me well we have proof that you did received your meals I said how so and he says we counted all the trays before we handed them out and now I tell him what did you just expect me to still something why did you count them I could be wrong maybe that's one of the countdown for the head of them out I don't know if this is the procedure by then a regular one but after I went back-and-forth with the manager he says I'm calling cops I don't know if this was a way to scare me and my little brother but I am very intelligent young male I know what I'm talking about and so I say call the cops or I have nothing against me or give me in trouble so literal for the cops and be my friend are you sitting there talking about how I would be so lucky to get blamed for stealing something and still wants the cops arrive look up greets me angry him and it was a very nice gentleman and I shook his hand I say I'm sorry for bringing you out here after I know this is a waste of your time this is so silly for you to do it but I keep trying to say that I stole this burger and then as I'm talking to the officer the manager comes up and take him away from me I didn't get to finish talking to the officer so I was pretty angry about that but I knew I was in the right so I didn't have anything to worry about so after the officer talk to him I had to hand him my phone so my mother could speak to him because my family knows most of the officers until after he speaks with my mother he has my back the phone I'm going to make them I said thank you sir and nausea comes back to me and he says you guys might leave and left my little dry now the manager comes back and he says you guys are banned I'm like well I don't think I'll be coming back anyways if I'm getting accused of stealing a burger with my 11-year-old brother what is the point of coming back to place like this sorry for making guys read this little short story but just wanted to prove my point and she guys horrible people these are thanks for your time. I eat gluten free and was unsure about what to eat here. The waitress was not very helpful - I basically had to figure it out on my own. I ended up getting a salad with a salmon patty on top. It was a very generous portion. I also drank an iced tea. So it is possible to eat healthy here. I appreciated the dressing coming on the side, which allowed me to determine how much to use. If you don't eat burgers, this is probably not an ideal choice. read more

My wife and I have ordered takeout here about four times now and I have to say the burgers are good. That being said the service is horriable! If you try to call your order in they don't answer the phone. We have never got through to anyone. We have to go into the resturant and order. It takes like 30 min or more to get the food. Okay, so we went there and there was 14 of us, we go there like atleast 2 times a week and have gone there for about 6 months, so we all get our stuff and 2 of our group didnt get their burgers, so the manager comes out and says he is going to call the cops, one of the people that didnt get their food said "go right ahead and call the cops we didnt get our food" so he waits like 10 minutes to call the cops then says "okay none of you guys are going to leave till this is over" so we all sit there and wait (its like 3:30) then the cops show up, then we get 2 parents to come in, one of which is a lawyer and they all just talked this over till like 4. I look back through my snapchat story and i have a picture that shows that neither of them have their food, so they see that then they just keep talking.
