Best place to bring your dog and sit outside in the sun! We split the DELICIOUS Oklahoma burger which is just about the best burger we've had in several years. Perfectly seasoned and proportioned, stays together with a lovely brioche bun. Our server was very kind bringing my dog a water bowl and ensuring it was filled, and when I ordered him a chicken breast, she brought him a piece of bacon too. We'll definitely be back! Another great find here in Olympia! Located right on the main drag of State St., at the corner of Central, this lovely little place is a great place to stop for a tasty beverage, an appetizer snack, or a full meal. For us, we had the first and third! After a school, family event we went to State & Central to cool off with a brew and fill up our stomachs. It was successful on both accounts! They are a family friendly place, so feel free to bring the little ... we did, with a 5 and 2 year old. The boys split a burger and fries that looked delicious ... they liked it and said it was good. My wife had a chicken sandwich and I had the fish & chips (I have a hard time saying No to that entree). Both dishes were great and we highly recommend either. As for beer, they had a wonderful selection of tasty brews (maybe not as many as some tasting rooms or ale houses, but all of the varieties to pick from). We had a porter and a couple different ales. Super good and hard to pick a favorite. The service was superb and everyone there was understanding, patient, and kind ... you could tell kids were accepted there and the staff either had kids too or were around them a lot - they were just so good with them. We found this jewel on our visit to Olympia. Service was impeccable and the food was to die for. We both ordered a bowl of Tomato soup. This is not your Campbells tomato soup that your mom used to make. No, this was thick with crushed tomatoes and parm on top. Lots of fresh herbs and perfectly balanced. Thanks!! My husband and I ventured to Olympia for a Saturday outing. When looking for a place to have lunch we found State & Central. A quaint place, the menu looked great, and the dishes they were serving the guests around us looked so delicious. I appreciated the different ways they prepared their burgers, my husband likes his plain and dry, no fixings or sauces, just meat and bun, so their naked burger was perfect for him. I opted for a Rueben Sandwich and switched the fries for their generously sized onion rings. I had not had a Reuben that good since I don't know when and in the East Coast. The onion rings were delicious large sweet onion rings, lightly breaded but so crispy. At first we decided to skip dessert, but then opted for a slice of pie to go. I ordered the Peanut butter chocolate pie, it was so decadent! Creamy peanut butter filling with a layer of chocolate ganache on the top. Our server was friendly and the rest of the staff seemed happy, the kitchen staff is visible from the dining area and they were getting their orders out in pretty good time. Not too big - maybe 12-15 tables for 2-4 people - but we didn't have to wait for a table at noon on a Sunday (slow but steady business). I ordered the cheese curds and while I'm assuming the breakfast is good I'll never get anything else because these cheese curds are fantastic!! Super crunchy breading that was not thick or doughy, perfect as an appetizer for two (or one hungry Wisconsinite, like me!). Hubby ordered the Juicy Lucy and I got the chicken sando; his was better than mine, but both were tasty. We found this spot on yelp while driving up from Portland and decided to stop here for lunch. What a delightful and delicious find! We had the juicy Lucy and a fishwich and both upgraded to onion rings. Both were excellent! And the menu pricing is reasonable considering the quality of food and service. After another great massage and a movie, we decided to end our date day with 'dinner' at State and Capitol, a small pub style place on the east end of Olympia that we haven't been to before and where they have 12 beer taps, always a plus in my book. There were plenty of tables available because it was only around 3:00 pm so we just picked one. Our server was very attentive and polite and gave me a rundown of their current beers on tap and since I'm a dark beer kind of guy, decided on the pecan porter, a typical porter beer with a nite pecan in the background. We started off with a shared appetizer of scrumptious beer batter dipped cheese curds served with ranch dressing. We had never sampled cheese curds before and these were wonderful. For the main course both had a newly added menu item, patty melts served with french fries and tartar sauce for dipping the fries. The patty melt taste was good but the beef patty was very thin and the menu didn't mention the pre-cooked weight of it either. What we really liked is that the patty melts and french fries were served hot. The disappointment was the tartar sauce. Not sure if it was homemade or not, but it did not taste like tartar sauce and we didn't care for it at all. Fish & chips are on the menu and we both commented that would be good to try next time, but the tartar sauce reversed that decision. All in all we enjoyed our meal, but they've got some work to do on the patty size and the tartar sauce. They deserve more than 3 stars but YELP doesn't allow a 3.5 rating and 4 stars is being too generous considering patty size and the quality/taste of the tartar sauce. read more

It was a little touch and go for a minute, but we walked away full and impressed! We got forgotten about and our ticket got pushed behind a 10-top and a ton of to-go orders, so when an hour hit without food we were just about ready to jet. The server was super apologetic and ended up getting us our food and the manager comped our entire meal, which was incredibly appreciated! For the food, we got the cheese curds which were completely drool inducing. They had a crisp beer breading with some sort of seasoning that I'll be thinking about when I fall asleep tonight, wow. The cheeseburger was incredibly reminiscent of a Wisconsin Randall's steak sandwich (if you know, you know). It was juicy, flavorful, and filling with fresh veggies. Your sauce options were a house fry sauce/goop and a hickory ketchup (kind of a smokey flavor). I asked for both on the side, which I'd recommend because they both go amazing with the hand-cut expertly seasoned fries. The goop ended up on the burger in the end. My partner got the fishwich (unfortunately the coleslaw came on the sandwich, which he didn't like) and enjoyed the crunch and noted the fish was not dry. Looked like some hefty pieces on there, too, and beer battered like the cheese curds. Both came with pickles which were kinda a bit spicy and good enough to be worth noting!
