Fish po boy (May special)
Pearl L.

We arrived here after visiting a small convention and were pretty hungry. We decided on State and Central as my boyfriend had been craving burgers so I looked to see what was available. This was also Mother's Day weekend so I wanted to pick a spot that wasn't too crowded. As we arrived, street parking was almost tough but we were able to find a spot nearby. We saw that they had outdoor dining available too, which is good to know but we decided to dine inside. We were given menus and water by different waitresses which was interesting. We never really knew who to call over and they didn't really come back after dropping off the food. We placed our order which consisted of: a boozy peach iced tea, juicy lucy and fish po boy. I wasn't a huge fan of the ginger sesame dressing/sauce that came with the fish po boy. The sandwich also felt apart pretty quickly which was disappointing too. However, the rest of the sandwich was decent. Now the juicy lucy is definitely worth getting as it was absolutely seasoned to perfection and the addition of the egg and bacon was phenomenal. This was both of our first times trying it and we look forward to finding more places that offer this amazing burger. The boozy peach iced tea was good but I wish there was more peach flavoring as it tasted more just like a regular iced tea.

Disappointing reuben

Service was fine. Table was dirty and sticky. Ordered the special burger with pimento cheese. Underwhelming and severely under seasoned. Definitely pitiful when you factor in the outrageous prices. But the egregious offense was the reuben sandwich. It was the most anemic sandwich I've ever had at a restaurant. Three thin slices of meat the most lame bread I've had outside of home or am airport. Every element of that sandwich felt as if they were from Wal-Mart's markdown section. I don't think I've ever had a worse reuben. And to charge over $15 for something I'd rather replace with a middle school cafeteria field trip sandwich... unreal. 2 starts because the fries were fresh, but needed salt. No heart in the cooking. Shame.

What a lovely place! I came here for lunch with a friend. She ordered a salad and I had a salmon sandwich. Salad portion was huge! My sandwich was delicious. And I haven't eaten this kind of French fries in a while. They were freshly cooked with a perfect crunch. It took us a long time to place an order because we were talking a lot just trying to catch up. Our server very patient with us. Just like she said- wave when you are ready. She was very attentive as she noticed us being ready without a wave. Great place, will come back for sure.

One of their specialty burgers where they stuff a bunch of cheese inside the actual patty. I forgot the fancy name they gave it..

It was a nice summer afternoon.. a bit breezy but other than that, almost perfect weather for sitting in the outside seating, the furthest seat away from the busy Street which was nice. The food was very nice. The waitress was pretty nice also it seemed very busy the longer we sat but she still checked in on us at least two or three times. A first visit for me and I think second visit for my friend. A place we would come back to.

Black raven scotch ale. Yum!

It was late and I was hungry. Was greeted immediately in a friendly way and was given a moment to review the menu. The space is tight, but tables aren't crammed together: there is outside seating. Selected the black raven scotch ale. It was very flavorful. The grilled cheese and tomato soup was perfect. Wonderful little place. I'll for sure come back next time I'm in town.

Juicy Lucy

Best burger in Oly. House made sauces. Incredible smash burgers. Our new favorite neighborhood spot. Great beer selection too. Gotta try the pie next time.

Chicken fried chicken

I loved this place so much, I went three weeks in a row while working in the area. Their chicken fried chicken is phenomenal! The fries are good and I also tried the tomato soup. It's a very small place so keep that in mind. Service was always decent and parking is street parking. Not too much of a busy area so should be good. I can't wait to come back here one day!

The juicy lucyyy

I got dinner here one night while in Olympia working for a few days. Inside is really cute, it reminded me of our neighborhood pub but more modern. The menu has decent, lots of good choices. I settled on the juicy Lucy burger which had cheese stuffed in the middle. It was really large in size. I really enjoyed it. It was prettty good, I was expecting more cheese to ooze out but I really like the amount I got cus sometimes it's a bit too overwhelming in flavor. Service was really good. I sat at the bar and talked a bit with one of the staff working. She was super friendly, kind of bummed I didn't grab a name but she gave me some good food recommendation for the rest of my stay. Solid dinner choice. I'll definitely come back if I'm ever back down in this area.

Dutch apple pie a la mode
Babette C.

Every time I drive by this place I take note that I have to stop by and try it. Finally did and was not disappointed. Sis and I weren't all that hungry, so we split the salad and it was a surprisingly large portion. We also split a smash burger and it was the perfect amount of food. Finally we split the Dutch apple pie and it's not the best I've had, but it was pretty solid and of course having it a la mode made it better. The waitress told us it was made at the Ribeye Restaurant that you see on the left on the way down 5 South as you are on your way to Centralia. They're owned by the same company, so I'm gonna have to try them out sometime. Will definitely come back to eat in their small, dog friendly patio in the summer.

Great burgers and a friendly welcoming vibe. And the best fries in town! Pro tip, ask for hickory sauce AND burger sauce. You're welcome.

Food that I've tried has all been mediocre. They refuse to add more options for vegetarians/vegans. A bad move in Olympia.

Next best was the bread - it was perfectly soft inside with a crispy crust. Between how oily the dish was and my nose running from the increased spice as I continued eating, I wouldn't return for this dish. The eggs weren't noticeable in appearance or taste- I had to search for them. The "creamy grits" were creamy, but the black pepper taste was STRONG. Definitely ordered the side for the "creamy" factor, hoping when the server said harissa in the eggs would have a mild spice, that the grits would calm my mouth. The amount of pepper made this unsuccessful. But if you like black pepper a lot then you'll enjoy them. My son enjoyed the beignet's. The server was also the host and he was kind. It was easy to get his attention when needed. I didn't see anyone with a grin on their face after taking bites of their food. I looked around quite a bit out of curiosity. So for ambiance, kind and prompt service, and the possibilities of the menu I gave it 4 stars. We only tried the few things I mentioned. I did also appreciate the bottle of water ready on every table. Note that there is no kids menu and it's mostly table seating. So maybe try on your own or with other adults, and leave the kids at home?

Cozy atmosphere. There were 3 employees that night, the woman who initially waited on us actually appeared to roll her eyes when we ordered. She seemed pretty rushed and just didn't want to work that night or something. The bartender was friendly and came for our second round and he actually seemed more welcoming and friendly. The drinks menu is a bit small (compared to other nearby bars). We got 5 drinks, one espresso one which wasn't great and the rest were alright. Nothing that made us go "Oh man, try that!" but they weren't bad either. The food, looks better than normal bar food, which I loved. We ordered "Balls of Gibralter" - North African meatballs, which were *SO GOOD*, so delicious EXCEPT the texture. The flavors were all amazing, but it was as if there was too much egg and not enough breadcrumbs because it gave the impression of being wildly undercooked, even though you could see no pink. If they were firmer, they would've been perfect. They seem to have a rotating grilled cheese special I wouldn't mind checking out next time. The ambiance-lovely.
