I love to come here. It's one of the few places with vegetarian options that also satisfies the carnivores. The cauliflower wings used to be fine, but now they're awesome! The burgers and pizza are always absolutely delicious. I've only had the sours and IPAs but I recommend both. read more

I'm super disappointed in this place. I came here today, which lets start off saying no one was at the front for at least 5min. A gentlemen came and we put our names down. He was pretty friendly. A lady ended up coming up saying she was wondering when she'd be called because she saw several tables leave and no one waiting had been called yet. He told her they were just cleaning and she'd be next. We ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender was very nice. I wanted to order the Cesar Wrap. She told me I couldn't because it's a lunch special. I let her know id be willing to pay the dinner price for it I just want the wrap. Its literally the best thing on the menu. She apologized & again said she really just couldn't. My husband asked what the difference was between the Cesar wrap & the Buffalo wrap on the menu that it truly couldn't be subbed out. She apologized & said she couldn't she'd need to talk to her manager. She came back to tell me her manager was busy. Which honestly, I'm a manager so for you to be too busy is mind blowing. At this point she told me I could order the salad and ask For it to be wrapped and it just wouldn't come with a side. This was a great solution for her, but at that point we decided to leave. A manager being too busy just turned me off. I've ordered this wrap at the Scottsdale & Norterra location many times for dinner and they've done it no problem. I wasn't pleased with the customer service of this location or how this was handled. I will continue to be a customer just not in surprise. You could've just told me the salad mix would be different, you could've just charged me for a Buffalo chicken, you could've literally done some many things before telling me no & then saying you're too busy. We are visiting this area for the weekend and had our hopes up for this place from the reviews, but our opinion of this place just went down and down, and we couldn't leave fast enough. Service: prompt, professional, & polite Food: I got the salmon and it was good. Asparagus was "steamed" but cold on the plate. My boyfriend got the pasta and he could barely eat it because it was SO undercooked. Most of the noodles were so hard we could not puncture them with a fork! 2 of the 3 beers we got were very stale as well. Ambiance: This place was DIRTY. Trash on the floors and all over the bathrooms, so many flies, booth seats were sticky, so much dust on the backs of the booths, NO SOAP in the restrooms & the restrooms had mold everywhere. Gotta be honest. Only reason this place gets a 3 is because they have really good beers and the staff was dope. The staff was super attentive and gave great drink advice. The food, well it has to be some of the lower end flavored food I have had since I started yelping. The chicken parm was burnt, dry and stringy. The pasta and marinara was pretty good though, the philly cheese steak was flavorless and the cheese was not good. The totchos weren't good and the Alfredo was not bad but the chicken was over cooked and stringy. Also, the pizza was over cooked. I get Brock pizza is burnt but this was black in most places. Though the tempura cauliflower was pretty bomb. The scene here was really cool and we were at the world's largest table so that was cool and like I said the beer selection was great and I really liked the three I ordered. This is a very poor bad place. It was our first time going. My wife ordered the pull pork nachos. Just the meat cheese and chips the cheese tasted old. I ordered a cheeseburger with Mayonnaise mustard ketchup, onion lettuce tomato. There was no ketchup or mustard on it. I found a hair in it. The seats are torn up my wife ordered a margarita it was not served in a margarita glass it was too strong and sour my unsweetened ice tea was old The server had a stale attitude when i brought all this to the manager's attention about the food. He didn't seem to care, so we just got up. Paid our check that they made us pay and left, this place needs to call bar rescue or shut down. read more

Food - uneatable Service- beyond horrible Ambiance - there isn't any to speak of Restaurant- Filthy Unfortunately I decided to give this "restaurant" a second chance and it was a big mistake. They sat us in the bar area that doesn't have an atmosphere that you would want to visit. We ordered cocktails that had the taste of rubbing alcohol. We ordered French Onion soup which sat at the table for 20 minutes because we didn't have any spoons, beside that the garlic nuggets that came with the soup were burnt to a crisp. We ordered other food and the table had no condiments, salt, pepper, ketchup, ETC... We finally gave up and just asked for the check so we could get out of there. The manager just said sorry for your experience. The waitress brought us spoons as we were walking out, well thank you. I want to love this spot. I really do. There is so much upside and so much good! But the few little negatives hold me back from giving a 4/5 start review!! The West side needs a good brewery and good sports bar. This should be and can be the place. The food is great the beers are good and cold. Lots of variety. My issue has been the service. Besides sitting at the bar the service has been noticeably slow and fairly inattentive. Today there was 6 of us around 1 pm. We got in right away and sat on the patio. We were greeted after about 5 minutes where our drink ordered was taken. 3-4 minutes later the waters and non alcoholic drinks came out. 5 minutes later our sever came back to check on the drinks. 5 minutes later we got our beers and taster. Seemed a bit long but ok. We ordered and about 10 min later apps came out. Nice pretzel plate. Soft inside springy outside. The cheese sauce was thick and delicious great flavor! We could've used a refill on waters and another round of beers. No server to be found. Whatever. Meals come out we were able to order another round of beers and were told a water pitcher was on its way. 5 minutes. 10 minutes. No water. Throats are dry. We flagged down a biased asking for water. She was super great and came back with new waters before the server brought the pitcher. Outside of the service the food is great! I had wings and the wife had the Diavallo Pizza. Wings cooked great Buffalo sauce was spicy and flavorful. The pizza is exceptional and a great wood fire. Honey ricotta pepperoni and peppers hard to beat the combo definitely worth your time. The rest of our crew liked their food. If you are not in a huge hurry and can meander and spend time with others definitely come by here. The beer menu is great and brewed on site. I love the beer selection (a cherry sour on the patio during the summer ). Great pizzas great sandwiches and good salads. It's an interesting restaurant with vibes of a sports bar and a pub with bar food. It's kind of upscale because they make everything from scratch from all their sauces and local meats to the mozzarella cheese that they put on their Pizza. They also offer their own beers and have quite a variety. They are family-friendly and also have private rooms for meetings or parties. What I enjoyed about them was the double bar that they had where you could sit inside or you could sit outside in the same bartenders serve both areas. So if you're a single person this is an a good place to go. I went there many times and had a good experience each time, I enjoyed their chicken wings, there elotes, the fish tacos, their meatball appetizer, lots of times I would have one of their appetizers with the house salad or their beet salad, I've had their beer cheese steak sandwich which is local source meat, they're in-house brisket sandwich, their state 48 Burger I'm getting hungry just thinking about all this it was all fun and good and like I said it was okay to be single and sit at the bar. Overall experience is almost four starts. The decor is casual. We were there for a business meeting. State 48 could easily be a date spot, hangout or family meal restaurant as well. The beer is the biggest positive. I tried a flight with the the blueberry, Irish cream and Scotch ales. All the varieties I tried did infact taste as described. All were consistently good. Blueberry is the perfect sweet and floral beer for summer. I wish the food was as consistent. I will begin with the food positve. Fish in the fish and chips was cooked beautifully. Outside was light and crisp. Inside was flaky. A little bit of steam escaped when cut into. They were pub worthy pieces of fish. Chips on the other hand were cold and stale. It seemed like the fries were put on a cold plate, and sat around while they waited for the fish to cook. While the cabbage was fresh, the coleslaw tasted like green cabbage and mayonnaise, nothing more. Service was extremely slow. I won't go into all. Let's just say the runner was more attentive. Between the beer and the fish, I eventually want to try State 48 again. Their pizzas look amazing. They had that rustic, wood-fired charm. That and they have an extensive beer menu. Visited here the first time today, brought our puppies with us and enjoyed the outdoor ambiance with the amazing music selection. We enjoyed the Sonoran burger as well as the salmon salad. The food was cooked to perfection and was mouth watering! I can not wait to come again. Our server Mckenna was delightful! She had great recommendations and was so accommodating to our crazy dogs! Greeted by who we found out later was the manager. I asked for a table. Apparently anything that has 4 legs is considered a table, even if it is a half booth. I didn't comment. The kids wanted a pizza. Their menu says it will come out in 5 minutes. It was 25 minutes and delivered after my Rueben and Husbands fish and chips. The fish was nasty. The Rueben I ordered was marble toast with very little sauerkraut and their homemade sauce. Not evenly heated. Cold spots within the meat. I had 2 bites. We requested a manager, and the woman who set us in a Half booth came to the table. She had no concern for our issues. We opted to put the half burned pizza in a box and take home. I'll probably give it to the next homeless person I see. The restrooms and walls leading to the restrooms are disgustingly filthy. The actual restroom was worse. I had looked up their menu before deciding to eat here. There is also a location near my house different than this location. However, if this is the treatment, condition and quality of food, I will not visit any location. Go ahead and eat here if you are daring enough to waste money on horrible food, sub par service and a filthy facility. We opted for the Irish pub next door since we didn't get to eat. Look for my review at Irish Wolfhound once I am served. I'm sure it will be better than State 48. Never again. read more

We opted to try a burger and a beer at State 48 instead of going with one of my tried and true places. It's always fun to try someplace new. On the day we arrived, late afternoon on a Saturday, the dining room was busy. We asked for the patio, (which is huge and covered in misters like a proper AZ dining patio should be). The hostess was blasé and told us we'd have to wait 30 minutes, so we opted to put our name in and wait at the bar. While at the bar we had a full view of an empty patio, except for a small graduation party of around 12 people. We thought that was a little weird - so people can reserve your entire patio on a Saturday afternoon? I think the blasé reception we received and the lack of explanation turned us both off. Undeterred, we ordered beers: me a Blueberry ale and her a lager. Loved the ale! Then, on recommendation of our friendly neighbors at the bar, we ordered the beer cheese burger. It's a nice-sized burger with a bacon jam and their signature beer cheese on the side, meant to top off the burger or for dippin'. I didn't understand the combination with the sweet bacon jam and the beer cheese for the burger, but I gotta say, that cheese was da bomb with their fries! Our bartender was pleasant, but we didn't get the outdoor dining we were hoping for, so it all fell a little flat for us. If you're looking for a new beersy joint, give it a try. She took video. Really sad thing is the "manager" walking around with a total of 8 guests in the place with zero clue.
