I've never written a review before but I was so nervous coming here because of the bad reviews but truly this place was wonderful! I came here for acrylic nails and had never gotten them done before but Andy did mine and was kind, patient, and made sure I was happy with them throughout the entire service. So hospitable and he did a great job - very consistent and made sure everything was neat. The shape for my thumbs were a little different but I'm sure if I said something they would have fixed it, I just didn't really care because it was so miniscule. Go here! I was helped right away and service took about an hour and a half (would say standard and very much not rushed). My tech Piedad did a wonderful job! She was so friendly and helped me pick out a color, as I can be very indecisive! The manager Lilian was very helpful upon check out explaining the loyalty system. Overall service was $55 for a standard SNS manicure plus tip. 10% discount for cash payment (huge!!). Loyalty program is on a point system that can be used for a variety of services. Update: I have worked w experienced nail estheticians who have told me that if you over buff your nails and over soak your nails w acetone, it weakens them and causes them to dry out, lift and break. So contrary to the response I have below, regular manicures ideally wouldn't damage but they actually can. This is a real bummer because I thought I had finally found my go-to nail salon in the neighborhood (I've gotten a gel mani from them a few times), but am now very hesitant because of a terrible recent experience with a pedicure. 2 days after my pedicure: my big toe is so swollen & tender that I am now limping because it's too painful to put any pressure on my toe. The technician dug into my inner toenail & skin so aggressively in the first few minutes of my pedi that I had to make her stop. First of all, I've never been to a nail salon that goes straight into cutting & digging into the nail BEFORE soaking the feet. Isn't the whole point of soaking the feet to soften the skin & nail a bit before beginning the work? Strange. I had to say "You are hurting me. Can I soak my feet in the water first? Think that would be better for me" and then she agreed. She did a decent job with the pedi itself after this, but I am hurting more & more by the minute post-pedicure. My big toe was aching so much in my sleep last night that I had to get up and elevate it with pillows under. I'm walking like a penguin now and just hope that it heals soon. Sure beauty is pain, but a simple pedicure shouldn't cost so much pain. read more

Now, on May 7th, every nail has torn, lifted, or the gel polish completely ripped off. For 40+ tip I expect gel polish to last at least three weeks. After all, I work an office job and wear gloves when washing the dishes, so my nails don't have a tough life. I saw the mixed reviews, I tried it, and I won't return to this salon. I have to agree with the other reviewers on here that the regular polish most likely has a decent amount of acetone in it. I had my nails painted on Thursday, and by Saturday morning they were already chipped (I wear gloves when I do the dishes, and did not to anything strenuous). I expect non-gel polish to at least last 5-7 days, and also to not destroy my nails. Also my pedicure was sub-par as well, my technician seemed disappointed that I did not want to do the extra $$$ spa pedicure, and looking at the bottom of my feet it doesn't even look like I had one done :( I will give this place an extra star because the employees were kind, pleasant, and attentive. But overall the quality of the polish, and regular pedicure service is not worth the price. read more

If you're a perfectionist about your nails, I don't recommend this place. My nails are all completely different lengths and shapes, some are very square, some are rectangular (mainly the long ones) and some are closer to oval. Most nail salons I've been to will make sure your nails are an even length without being asked to and do more than the bare minimum without charging for filing, shaping and cutting (because it's usually included.) The dip powder is uneven on my nail, with gel polish it is very noticeable because w the gel is textured on my nail. (Again if you're not a perfectionist then not a big deal but I notice it when I'm texting because the light shows how uneven it is) read more

My technician was very rough; my foot is actually hurting because she cut me so bad. She was super rough during the manicure as well. I asked her to be more gentle but it didn't really do much. Manicure was also super rushed and they weren't very busy (plus I had an appointment). It came out uneven and not that great looking. I LITERALLY just got my nails done on Thursday and didn't do anything on Friday (worked from home on my computer all day) and my gel manicure is ALREADY CHIPPING and the polish is lifting off of 3 fingers & the polish is becoming discolored after repeated use of my leather wallet today (taking things in and out of it). IM SO MAD! A day and a half later my nails started to chip! Are you kidding me. I spent over $60 on my nails for them to chip after a day . The whole reason why I got my nails done was because I had somewhere to go today and now I have to go with my nails looking horrible. Though the staff was friendly. I have a 10 minutes feet massage, callus remover, and the whole experience took about 60 minutes. She took time in trimming my cuticles, they are hard and stubborn. She soaked them, pushed the cuticles really well and removed them good. I could felt my smooth feet after it's done. I MUST praise her massage technique. She is really strong and I couldn't find anyone like her! She knows the points and the knots, and where to press harder!!! Mimi did my powder nails before. Even though she's a little bit slow but she did a very nice and meticulous job. I liked it how she take time and make sure everything is perfect before she moves onto the next step. She's very patient and always strive for nice job. I like her a lot. She served me a number times since I started to got to Starry Nails. She is enthusiastic and excellent service. I got a gel manicure done in LA for my wedding in NYC. The LA manicurist used stickers instead of painting the design I wanted and the stickers started to peel off the very next morning before my flight to NYC. I contacted Starry Nail Spa before I boarded as they were the closest nail salon to my hotel in DUMBO with good reviews. I let the manager know about my situation- that I only needed to fix the design of my recent gel manicure and didn't have time to redo the manicure itself. I walked in the next morning and the manager removed the top gel coat and actually painted the design the way it was depicted in the photo I showed her and then finished it off with a strong top coat. She was very detailed and did such a great job and I was so relieved since my wedding was the next day. If I still lived in NYC I'd definitely come back here. read more

Great place - they renovated the inside a few months ago and it's my new go-to. This place is VERY clean (trust me, I'm a germaphobe) and consistently does an excellent job. Have gotten multiple gel manicures, gel pedicure, regular pedicure and regular manicure. The regular pedicure lasted two weeks with no chip, but as always, how long you stay under the dryer matters! First let my start off by saying the two stars are for the girls who provided service to me today because I know that they didn't have anything to do with my bad experience at the nail salon. Ok now I received a gift card from my aunt to go to this nail salon for my birthday so I've never been there before and I will not go back. When I walk in I talk to the woman at the front whom I believe is a manger or supervisor because she's not doing anything but giving out the money and collecting the money.She knows I have gift card for $75, now I know it doesn't seem like a lot to her but it is to me but I can see that she is determined for me to spend more on top of the gift card of $75 which I can't understand because the person who purchased the gift card already paid you your money so why do you need anymore?? So I figured it's been a while let me get a spa pedicure I'll pay still not trying to show out because she annoyed me. I sit down the woman starts my feet then another lady comes over while I'm in the chair and starts my manicure I ask her what is she doing she then says "oh do you want me to start your manicure while you do your feet" I then say no so the same woman from the front tells her oh they are about to close so she has to start it now so that annoyed me also if you knew you were about to close then you should have said that you could not provide the service I need come back another time or don't do it at all. Oh I forgot to mention that the air conditioning also was broken but I stayed so I really can't blame them for my mistake I should have left. So she starts the manicure she begins to cut my cuticles with soaking my hands in water first I ask her again what are you doing don't you soak my hands first she then replies no not when you get a gel manicure. I'm annoyed again because that's not true I get them all the time and you do soak my hands first then proceed with the manicure and when I do get a gel manicure it doesn't cost no where near as much as it does here so I would like to get the same experience. So being annoyed I tell her forget it I'll just take a regular manicure, Like I said in the beginning both women were very nice the pedicure was ok but definitely not worth the money I'm sorry I've been getting my feet done for a long time and it wasn't worth it. But I definitely know when I'm not wanted in a establishment I was in a place where no one looked like me and you can tell who they cater to inside this nail salon. The women across from me sat there got they're feet done then after that they took them over to the table and they got they're nails done. A service that you said I could not get cause you were about to close not to mention when they were finished they got a little message on the back when I barley got the chair message when I sat down. So now I go to pay the total is $130 so I pay the remainder off and then I give ten dollars for the tip because that was all the cash I had the woman looks at me and says you can't give any more let's send everyone home happy I said "what" she repeated herself because she was very serious. And that's when I knew I definitely had to walk away because as a black woman I know she wanted me to say something so i could look a way to these other women in this salon and I refuse to give her that Satisfaction she just taught me a lesson to STOP giving them my money because they don't want it especially not at this shop. I've now found me a black owed nail salon on my way home and that's where I will be going from now on I wont spend any kind of money with anyone who doesn't respect me and this was disgusting and disrespectful for you to come for me about a bigger tip after you just got $130. I didn't get her name but I was here on July 16th 2022 which is a Saturday so whoever runs the shop that day that's who I dealt with. I felt it was important to share this because someone may need it to stop them from going into somewhere and being treated like I was I wished someone stopped me. read more
