This spa is spacious, more than enough pedicure and hand service stations, it was amazing to walk into. As soon as I walked in Jennie greeted me and showed me to the pedicure chair. The massage chair actually works which was much needed. I got the Lavender Spa Pedicure and acrylic/gel custom design. In the pedicure, it included a 5 minute leg/foot massage (thank you Jennie for being patient, I am ticklish AF). For my acrylic set, I showed Jason the picture I wanted and what I wanted, I GOT! I see other negative reviews and not sure where those were coming from but my experience was great and I will come back religiously. I've only gotten regular manicures here so I can't comment on their other services. Judging from the hit or miss quality of their regular manicures, I'm hesitant to try anything costlier. Sometimes it's fine. Sometimes the tech will either drill all your cuticles away or neglect to properly file your nails. I will gently request what I want, but I don't want to nag, nor should I because regular manicures consist of the same basic steps. I never know what I'm going to get bc I don't book with a specific nail tech. And their hand towels smell like damp dog. I wash my hands twice afterwards and the stench still lingers. But since they are one of the very few salons in the area that don't charge obscene prices, I'll probably go back for basic services. And they seem to have their devotees so perhaps sticking with a tech you like is the way to go. read more

Sad to leave this as the advice I was given when I arrived about what I needed to help my nails / get the look I wanted was great and super helpful. However, by the evening one of my nails had started to crack on the surface. I did go back in and they fixed for free however less than a week from getting extensions (only to add a tiny bit of length) and dip two have fallen off. One in my hair while washing it and the other pinged off as I picked up the washing. Because of this I would not recommend. Sad because I thought I had found a gem. read more

I'm giving three stars because the woman who did my nails was very sweet but I could've done a better job at home on my own. First, she started clipping and filing and picking at my feet while they were still dry, not even soaked in water yet. That was uncomfortable. I got some sort of extra hydration pedicure and my feet still feel as dry as before I went in. She was a bit aggressive with the heel file as well. The atmosphere isn't relaxing it's like a factory. But the worst of it is how my pedicure turned out. I had a chip in my toenail that she chose to just paint on the skin instead of filing down , even if it was low, it looks terrible. (And I had to ask about it she wasn't going to mention it) nails are filed crooked and the paint job looks like my five year old cousin did it. The last time I came here was for a manicure many years ago and they buffed my nails so thin they were like paper, and vowed to never go back but thought after many years they had gotten better...not the case. Never again.... This is my third time in this place. The first time they did a Great Manicure and the second time a great pedicure. Because of those good experiences I made an appointment for mani and pedí again. I went in for the appointment and they started right away, which is good. I told the lady that I wanted a callus mask, she gave me the menu for pedicures. I choose one and she started to do the pedicure. Tina, was doing a good job until she unplugged the chair. First if I am paying for a very expensive job, I want to use the massage chair for the whole time I am seating in the chair. The lady unplugged the chair when I started the massage the second time. She stated it was because of the UV/LED machine (weird because they didn't do that to the lady that was seating next to me) well it that moment I knew that the extremely expensive service was not worth it. After she unplugged the chair, I spend 30 more minutes seated in that chair. I guess that they charge extra for the chair even if you are getting a service that requires to be seating in that chair. Yeap, Incredible ! In nowhere in the menu or the Salon, anywhere! says that you can only use the pedicure chair for 20 minutes, even if your service is for 50 minutes. After she finished with the pedicure ( it was good, that is why the 2 stars) we go to the nails table. She didn't have almost any instruments and they were not sanitized. She started doing the most sloppy terrible Manicure that someone have done in anyone's life ! I can't even believe that I paid almost 50 for this awful Manicure. The "Manicurist" didn't know that the nails needs to be clean! she needs to remove all the dead skin and clean everything around the nail. When I saw she was not doing her job I specifically told her to please clean the dead skin that was visible from 10 blocks down. She laugh and said yes yes, but she didn't do it ! If I wanted to only paint my nails, I would it done that at my house! Not paying a 50-dollar Manicure that now I need to go tomorrow and fix it! to another place ofc! In my entire life someone haven't done to me a so poor job. I paid $123 for both services. It was more expensive but because I was going to pay cash, they gave me a 10% off . I gave her 5 dollars for tip, in my mind I wanted to give her 0 dollars for the awful job. When she saw that it was only 5 dollars, she looks at me like that was not enough tip and when I was leaving, she screamed to all her co-workers that I only gave her 5 dollars for all the work she did. This was my go to place. I loved Starry Nail Salon from their fair prices and bonus card to their pedicures. It is also one of the cleanest places in Brooklyn Heights for a pedicure which I went today for. I like my nails short and round. There were a few corners left sharp that I asked the manicurist to fix. She really hurt when cutting cuticles to the point that it felt as if she was pulling them. Looking at my nails tonight, I realize they are different lengths (especially the big toes) and red all around the nails. I also got a foot massage which felt like just a big toe massage and I had to ask her to massage other parts of my foot. She was talking with the manicurist next to us so perhaps she was distracted. At the end, while waiting for my toes to dry, she gave a quick shoulder massage. This felt good until she started pounding on my back. I am in so much pain tonight, both my shoulders and toe, I need to take pain relievers. Unfortunately, I will no longer recommend this spa and started looking for a new place to go for pedicures and massages. I am literally in the middle of my mani-pedi and Zuri is being so careful with my feet. This experience is exactly what I needed. I will update when it is done. I am getting a mani-pedi with French manicure gel nails. Update: She moved quickly but I wasn't rushed. My pedicure was on point and I got French manicure gel nails. It cost $85, which is pretty average for that service and my nails look great in my opinion. You can look at the pic taken 48 hours later and decide. I would go back. Two things l liked: she asked me if my white stripe was to thin or thick. I said it was too thick but she can leave it and make it thinner moving forward. I am low maintenance. She redid the nail anyway. Also, she gave me a nice massage when she was done with my nails. Bottom Line: I would go back. Update 2: It is Friday and the bank teller complimented me on my nails. The gel remover began BURNING my nails, which I have never experienced anywhere else and I quickly asked her to rThen when filing my nails she made the one corner so short she was filing my skin when I became concerned and she quickly tried to put dip powder ON MY SKIN to hide her mistake. I am still trying to remove the dip powder from my skin to prevent infection. Oh and I got home and noticed a hair in the polish. I had the rudest salon tech and I'm sad about it. I visited today for a regular red manicure. There were bubbles on two nails which I asked her to fix while she was still painting. She said that it was ok and the top coat would fix it. But when my nails were done, the bubbles were still there, plus a weird black bubble. I told the receptionist before leaving (I paid before my nails were painted), and he rubbed my wet nail to check...at which point the whole nail was smudged. He then pointed me to my nail tech and told her to fix it. She was SO MAD. "What do you want me to do, it's just the polish color, etc." After a back and forth (during which I was very calm and very polite), she begrudgingly fixed it. I've worked around the corner from this place for nearly a decade and have now tried it on 3 occasions. And I will definitely write this one off for the future. They are on the more expensive side which I wouldn't mind if I was fully satisfied!!!! I never mind paying if something is worth it. She was very rough and painful and I had to tell her to ease up twice. And it looks like I could have done it myself. They initially wanted to charge $10 for the design! I told them $5 was the max. They also could have done another coat of powder. The actual worst gel manicure I have ever had. I'll give the salon credit that it was clean and they saw me right away. The yellow gel color I picked was watery and needed 3 coats, which sometimes happens with bright colors. However, it still looked streaky and sloppy. I was ready just to give up and move on. But! My middle nail was actually bubbling. I pointed this out to the nail tech, and she seemed annoyed, grabbed my finger and FILED all the polish off to the point that it started to hurt and my actual nail is now thin as paper. She repainted it- very sloppily- and sent me on my way. That was Friday night. Cue to now- Sunday morning- and the polish just peeled almost completely off as I was putting away laundry. It's so convenient to get there because it's near the Jay St Metro Tech station. When I first arrived the place felt so warm and welcoming. Everything is brand new and the first thing that catches my is the cool wall of nail polishes. I was greeted by Lillian, who also did my nails. She was so kind and nice her customer service was on point. What was super unique during my manicure was they gave me a keratin glove for moisturization(see photo!) She popped the fingers on the glove so she can work on my nails too. It felt so warm and nice and I never seen this type of technique anywhere else. She did a great job on my nails and I loved it. There were so many issues with the service I received and it's a shame. The employees were nice and I wanted to write a positive review. I came in after work at about 5:45 PM. I understand that after-work walk-ins -- especially for SNS gels -- can be difficult to fit in and I expected to wait. They started to remove my gel nail polish soon after I walked in. But I sat for over one and a half hours just for a technician to start on my nails. I would have appreciated if they told me they were full and to come back another day, instead of having me wait for an unacceptable amount of time. One woman got up and left while waiting and another got up to leave but *miraculously* a technician opened up to start her nails. These women were getting simple manicures. While I was waiting, a woman walked in with a voucher to re-do her nails, because they had messed up. Honestly, at this point I should have taken this as a sign from above and left, but alas... A manicurist opened up and started on my nails. She assured me that she could do SNS manicures. Like Maury says, "the results determined that was a lie!" The manicure started well enough but then it was alarming what was happening. She did not cut my cuticles like most salons and got nail color all over my skin. Then she used the cuticle scissors to try and remove it! I had to tell her to stop because she was cutting my skin and hurting me. After a few layers, I observed that my thumb was partially unpainted and asked her to re-do it. Yikes. After sitting under the nail dryer, I noticed that my nails were uneven and part of the nail polish was clumped on some of my nails. At this point, I was just done. I paid for my manicure and left. The prices were outrageous for the manicure quality, even with a 20% soft opening discount. I've gotten better manicures done in Washington Heights for a quarter of the retail price here. Again, everyone who worked there was very friendly and welcoming. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. My rating is not reflective of the employees -- purely on the service I received. That's why it's a two star review instead of one. And gel manicure went on very lumpy. On every nail, you can see extra gel polish accumulated at the tip. Most noticeable on thumbs (see photo). Gel mani + reg pedi was $75. I was in BK before watching a movie and decided to try SNS for the first time. I asked my lovely technician - who was male, to make them almond shape. He was truly a great person to do my nails, I'd request him again. He was very happy, encouraging and all around fun to be around. Their customer service is on point. A woman came in and told the staff that she was in the day before and chipped her nail. They fixed it for her right away and did not charge. I love how clean this place is. First thing that I checked out was their restroom (one of my pet peeves when it comes to bars and restaurants, and salons. If their restrooms are dirty, I would usually walk right out, or never return). The lighting in the restroom is very bright. That really helps me to "inspect" the cleanliness of it. As I sat down for manicure, the technician took out her tools. The tools were packed in a medical grade pouch. That's what my dentist used to hold their instruments! I guess they are really taking the sanitation level serious. I always like to keep my nails trimmed to as short as possible, just so that they don't hinder my ability to play string instruments. To my knowledge it's a lot harder for any technician to do a perfect painting job on extremely short nails. However, the girl that worked on my nails did an amazing job. Her name is Lilian, I believe. She was also very attentive in helping me selecting my color. It took me a good 25 mins to decide which colors to go with. She did not rush me at all. I have had the most horrible experiences these last few times here. JUDY is my nail technician. Not only does she skips steps during the pedicure (I get the same pedicure each time so I know the steps) but she also is harsh and rushes. The experience was horrible and shes rude, she rushes, she skips steps, and is frankly not good at all. VERY poor customer service. I tipped her less than 20% because she sucks and the place is frankly not good anymore. She asked me if I have an appointment because its going to get busy (there were 5 open seats). Focus on the customer you have not the future. She is unhappy with the tip and comes back and demands for more. In fact she says "thats all?" Tipping is based on service. If your service sucks, you are unlikely to get 20% but more 15%, although some people would be inclined to give $0. Its the audacity for me read more

I've been coming here for about a year and can safely say this is one of the best nail salons in the DT/west BK area. I live in Fort Greene and walk 25 minutes to get my nails done here because they do the best job with reasonable pricing. The work is consistently good AND unlike a lot of nail salons they are respectful of customers time. I've seen them turn people away if they're at capacity/overloaded with business.
