Starring salon was exactly what I needed after a year of no hair love. Johnny and Coco were the initial draw, but as soon as I stepped in, I knew they had found an environment that would match their sassy styles to a T. With this dynamic duo, the first step is a consultation in which Johnny listens to where you're going color wise and Coco tells you how to pull it off with the right cut. In the past, my favorite move has been to put it in the stylist's hands entirely and let them create a look that will work best. Jason, Ted and Coco are just absolutely incredible artists and people. I have never felt so put together and cool until I met them. I've traveled to NYC and Chicago in the past looking for someone who could handle my hair and always experienced mediocre results. Jason and Ted applied treatment to my hair that was very damaged, dry and frizzy. The texture became smooth and healthy to the touch - it was like magic. I didn't have hope for it to feel and look this great ever again! They took such detailed care of every part of the treatment that I felt like someone special. Coco gave me a cut and style that was so awesome that I was bummed that it's a pandemic and I couldn't go anywhere to show it off. He paid attention to every twist and strand that when the light hit my hair, it looked incredible! I haven't gotten my hair done in ages. I've been too scared because of Covid, however I heard that the Starring salon is taking extreme measures to keep there staff and clients healthy and safe. I called and made an appointment. When I arrived I realized the salon was so flashy and bBut hey It is LA.....I was greeted at the locked door and let in. This made me feel more comfortable that not anyone off the street could walk in with out proper PPE. I booked an appointment online with Ted G for a cut and Jason B for color. This salon has been my saving grace for the last year! I'm obsessed. My hair has never looked so good and the stylists are all amazing. Since covid I felt like I had to share. Its now the only place I trust. I actually feel safe to get back my pre-lockdown color/cut (which I really needed). They have these 'clouds' which are basically individual pods you sit in while you're getting your hair done so you have your own private space. They are heaven. It's always just me and the stylist (who wears a mask) and it feels so safe and lux. I couldn't ask for anything more! I haven't gone t this Salon because I was going to for the Mrs Maisel Day . I hadn't had a haircut in an extremely long time and was excited to be able to get one here , as I have heard good things . I called a few days before to ask if I had to have an appointment for this and was told no, we will be cutting hair all day long. I had planned to come very early but was able to get a doctor appointment I had been trying for that morning. I went to the appointment and then to the salon, arriving at around 12 . There was no line and the door was locked. I was a bit confused and knocked on the door. A woman came out and I said I am here for the Mrs. Maisel day. She said oh yes we had so many people that wended up making appointments instead but no longer have room for anyone else. I said oh that's not what they said on the phone. She said oh we didn't know there would be so many people. I said I really need a haircut , it's been over a year and a half. She said oh sorry we are all booked up. I get this but the reason I am giving them a 2 star is because they didn't even feign sympathy or try to make up for their huge mistake of not properly planning this event and honoring there word of not needing an appointment and just show up which I did. I met Johnny one day at my work and he gave me his business card. I checked him out on IG and booked my appointment. I booked an appointment with coco Alexander. He was Awesome! The way he cut my hair was so breathtaking. I've had my hair cut by many people before and he was so the best I must say. It was so natural and so was he. I looooove this salon so much I've gotten my hair done here several but times but most recently was the single best experience ive ever had. They're rolling out a new hair treatment called The Crown and it is seriously life changing. Not only does it make your hair soooo soft and bouncy and beautiful but it made my hair feel so much healthier. I also am prone to super tangly hair and the crown completely eliminated that. I wanted a look that I couldn't get with any other hairstylist. Ted Gibson Salon is not like any other salon in Los Angeles. It's definitely not like any of those obnoxious Beverly Hills salons that I've been to. It's fresh, New, modern and innovative. Just straight up cool! I love going to this beautiful, "Pod" like salon to get my hair done every other week. I feel so good walking out. He has these pods that are Private, with this type special lighting system to adjust to make sure your hair color he's doing on you is spot on. Each Pod also allows you to order his product, "Starring" right from my chair on an alexa. Amazing! Again... just innovative!
