I don't usually leave negative reviews lightly, especially when there are parts of an experience I genuinely appreciated. The bald spot required careful maintenance for years, and I had to be extremely gentle with my hair for more than four years while it recovered. I also feel the service did not match what I paid. After i complained i was told my service would be discounted however I was charged $300 for what ended up being a trim and color, and I spent the entire day at the salon, which caused me to miss my art show. On top of that, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was originally scheduled to meet with Porsha, but communication was inconsistent--messages went unanswered for hours before eventually stopping altogether, as reflected in my initial interactions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While Lisa provided a positive personal interaction, the outcome of the service itself and the lack of follow-through left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. I am aware of the fact that Karl J. is no longer at RVM. I would have removed my review, but I take issue with something the owner, Rashard did, behind my back. My appointment with Karl was a year after I had an appointment with another stylist, Coreyy V. I initially booked an appointment for my Mom with Coreyy for his special conditioning, color, press and style. I took my Mom to the salon and was so excited. She neglected her health to care for my Gran during my Gran's last days. I am my Mom's caretaker and also did a lot for my Gran, so this was a team effort. Unfortunately, my Mom has been dealing with a lot of health issues, so I am always transparent with a stylist about the condition of both of our hair (neither of us makes it to a salon as frequently as we would like), but I pay what they charge AND tip. My Mom's hair was in bad condition because we couldn't care for it as well as we wanted, due to illness and hospitalization. Coreyy really did a wonderful job on my Mom's hair. She and I were both so pleased. As a result, I booked with him because the woman who had been doing my hair was doing a bad job and damaged it. When it came time for my appointment, Coreyy hadn't swept up the hair he cut from the previous client, which is a NO. You never seat a client in a chair that hasn't been swept around or cleaned off. Second, I informed him of my correct hair color. He showed up with the wrong colors and told me he went to a couple or a few different beauty supply stores but could not find the correct color combo. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Had he called or texted me the day before, I would have picked up the appropriate color or colors for him to color my hair as I am accustomed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Third, the package Coreyy sold was his special conditioning. When it came time for him to condition my hair, he slapped conditioner on, left me at the bowl for a minute or 2 (which you cannot do to my hair) and washed it out. Coreyy knew better. He walked me to his chair, finished my hair and I paid for services rendered unprofessionally and improperly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He asked if he could take a video of my hair, which I declined. He said it would not be posted on IG - he would keep it for his archives. I conceded, despite having told him no once.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My hair was not to my liking. It was dry due to lack of conditioning, the wrong color and I was not ok with the video being taken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fast-forward, he sent me a video and asked if he can post it on IG. What?!. I said no, he disrespected my wishes, lied and said the video was just for his archives, then asked later if he could post it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Regardless of what I say, he has the video, so he will do as he pleases. Next thing I know, I'm posted to his IG as if I am a happy customer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I informed Coreyy that my hair didn't last a week, which was unfair. He replied, "I'm glad you're pleased with your services." I don't do snarky.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I reached out to Rashard and informed him about the exchange. We had a very professional exchange, in which he stated he would speak to Coreyy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]What bothered me is during our initial convo, Rashard said, "You could go to 100 stylists and you may [only] find 2-3 who work for you."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Karl was the SECOND and last stylist I went to at RVM, a year after Coreyy. I was offered a refund. I declined. Rashard owed me nothing. Coreyy should have made it right. I never posted a review about Coreyy but posted a review about Karl because he is so popular on IG and seems to discriminate re: who he puts his best work into. When Rashard saw my review of Karl's work, he DM'd me. We spoke again. This man later went behind my back, spoke to Karl AND Coreyy. Coreyy had NOTHING to do with my experience with Karl. Again, Rashard offered to comp me for the service. Karl should have fixed that. The discussion with both stylists as if I was the problem was the final straw/the reason I never took my Karl J. review down. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Rashard was also harassing me and I asked that he stop. I had to block him on Yelp and my phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My hair could easily be a stylist's calling card. They could make a fortune off of me from referrals - IF they did my hair properly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today I texted Lizz to get my hair washed and flat ironed last minute because I had an event to attend last minute. She said she could fit me in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked how much it would cost she 125-175 depending what I was getting. That was strange as well because my first time she charged me about 250 and that's including the tip and I only got a wash, flat iron, and I trim. And I asked about that when I got in the chair, she said I must have gotten a take down in which I didn't. I let that go. At the arrival someone was in the seat at my appointment time and he was just getting his hair blow dried. She told me to go to the shampoo bowl and I did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I man looked me up and down and said "who you here for" and I said Lizz and he said "oh ok you can sit down" like he own the place.. maybe he does but he was rude![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] About 15 min later Lizz washed my hair and conditioned it quickly, then sat me under the hooded dryer for about an hour. My appointment was at 430, I got in the door around 4:40pm and I was still under the dryer around 5:50. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to text her to let her know I was still under the dryer she was like oh "running my mouth."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She blow dried and flat ironed my hair and it reeked of burnt hair! When I got home and I didn't even go to the event, I brush through my hair and burnt strains came out. And my hair didn't even look like it was even styled, the curls fall out and mine you she did my hair before and none of my curls come out. I told her that before I left, she said "oh because they're not trained" I'm saying to myself my hair holds curls, but no it's because my hair is burnt. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sent her text and she said it was shedding. I told her no because I had this experience before and I know the difference, sent pics as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She offered to give me a treatment and trim for no charge. I declined her offer, but contemplated to ask for the tip back. I decided to send that msg for the tip and if she sent back then all is forgiven. She sent the same offer and no tip. And that's why I am writing this long review! She charged me $125 and I gave her $25 tip. My hair smells so bad!! It literally gave me a headache on the car ride home. read more

Ultimately, the salon should be renamed NVM The biggest contradiction in my experience at RVM Salon was that Jasamine personally sold me the hair for my install, advertising it as high-quality, reusable luxury extensions--yet during the service, she damaged the hair, compromised its longevity, and used a poor-quality lace closure. She promoted the hair as luxury-grade, made from 100% virgin human hair, with an HD lace closure that would provide a natural, seamless look. She stated that with proper care, the hair could last 1-2 years. She cut the wefts instead of folding them, which is never recommended for high-end extensions because it leads to shedding and a reduced lifespan. At least 2 inches of length were bluntly cut off without my consent, altering the overall look I had paid for. The install was done too tightly, putting excessive stress on the extensions, which can lead to breakage over time. Instead of blending seamlessly, the lace was bulky and unnatural-looking. The hairline was poorly customized, making the closure look harsh and unrealistic. The placement was off-center, throwing off the overall symmetry of the style. The parting area had a visible thinning spot, suggesting that the lace itself was not truly high-quality HD lace as advertised. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This entire experience left me feeling misled and taken advantage of, as I invested in hair based on the stylist's assurances, only for it to be mishandled, cut unnecessarily, and poorly installed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Beyond the poor quality of the install, the entire experience at RVM Salon was riddled with negligence, lack of professionalism, and dismissive customer service. - Negligent hair handling - My natural hair was not properly detangled before washing, leading to painful breakage and unnecessary tangling. She failed to trim my ends before braiding, which is a basic step in proper hair preparation. - Low-quality tools and lack of preparation - The stylist ran out of product mid-service, making me question whether my hair was properly conditioned. A rattling, low-quality blow dryer was used, which is unprofessional for a salon that markets itself as a luxury experience. - Poor braid foundation - The braiding pattern was not protective, there are two braids on either side of my head each holding the weight of the bundles causing extreme tension around the perimeter of my face and limiting styling - Excessively tight install - The sew-in was too tight creating soreness, itchiness, and potential hair loss. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Jasamine spent the appointment engaged in personal conversations, making the experience feel disorganized and unwelcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A service that was booked for 3 hours started late and dragged on for nearly 5 hours. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She never asked for pictures or consulted with me to ensure the styling aligned with my expectations versus her skill set.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead of taking the time to discuss my hair goals, styling preferences, or daily maintenance, multiple personal conversations dominated the appointment--literally happening over my head as if I were an inanimate object.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I raised my concerns with Rashard, the salon owner... he was dismissive and unprofessional. He repeatedly deflected responsibility, emphasizing that his stylists are 1099 contractors, rather than addressing the blatant service failure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]no apology, no acknowledgment, no follow up from Jasamine nor Rashard[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I do not recommend this salon to anyone looking for consistent, high-quality service. This was not just a bad experience--it was gross negligence that resulted in physical discomfort, financial burden, and emotional distress. read more

I had such a wonderful experience getting my hair done at RVM Twists so I contacted Rashad (business owner) to book an appointment for RVM Salons! This time, I wanted to have my hair styled differently. So I went with a slick ponytail/extended braid. Rashad got back to me almost immediately after I reached out about a style I wanted. I was then contacted and booked with a lovely lady named Amani. She called me a day before and texted me the day of, which I truly appreciated and LOVEEE LOVE about this business. She asked me how long would I like my ponytail, and I told her as long and she could get. She did just that! Very attentive. I really like the salon setup and the personalities of all of the people that I encountered there. It is awesome that they have valet parking available for $6 to help avoid having to run out and pay meters or move your car to avoid parking tickets. NOTE: All of the stylists have varying skill levels and it may be difficult to identify the proper stylist for your needs without a trusted recommendation. The stylist I saw was very nice, polite, and professional. However, I honestly didn't do the proper due diligence prior to having her perform what I considered a simple service (wash, condition, trim and press), and ended up with severely heat damaged natural hair. I suggest that anyone who is planning to try this salon researches which individual stylist will best serve them. Today I had the greatest experience with hair stylist Ashley (who works upstairs in the overflow RVM location). She was the epitome of professionalism. Her work is stunning and her hands are truly gifted. Being new to LA, I originally searched for stylists on IG but when that fell through -- Ashley was there to save the day. She walked me through every part of the styling process for my ponytail and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. Will absolutely be returning and hope to become a regular thank you sis!
