This is by far the BEST local hair salon I've ever been to LA. Especially for a "first come first serve, and walk-ins" availability. I was shocked at how fast I was able to get services due to it being last minute and a tedious hairstyle. My specialist was Kay. She's such an amazing braider, with quick and light hands. She was very efficient and studied exactly what it is that I politely asked for. I loved that. The salon was filled with beautiful black women working their tails off, completing unique designs and styles for their guests! I absolutely LOVED the ambiance and felt completely comfortable. Everyone was getting their hair done, while nice tunes played in the background. It felt so serene. To be taken care of, while getting a deep mint wash, conditioner, and blow dry with such late notice. Yet, I felt like I was right on time. I didn't mind that I had to stay longer because I booked it later. My advice is that you contact RVM early, get a picture of the style you want, ask for their availability, and be on time y'all! Do not book with Rae. I sent her a simple picture of two stand twists and I ended up with... not that. I had to go home immediately and wash it out. It was a waste of money. Two stand twists are probably the easiest style to do on natural hair. I paid way too much for it and it looked awful. She made the twists different sizes and used a lot of gel to make it look like a knotless weird thing. It was so bad. If she didn't know how to do the style she should have said something. read more

I have received OUTSTANDING hair service from Felicia!! I am amazed by her work!!! She gave me exactly what I asked for!!!!! She is very kind knowledgeable professional and knows how to really style hair!!!!! I was also amazed by the quality of the shampoos/conditioners she used on my hair because sometimes after I get service from a salon my hair tends to not hold the smells from the shampoos etc and sometimes the hot tools used on my hair makes it smell slightly burnt and over powers the hair wash products, and the shampoo/conditioner scents linger away the following day, but whatever Felicia used on my hair madd it still smell wonderful days after! I went in for the most simple sew in extensions. The girl used big white thread to sew in my $400 extensions. When I got home, I realized instead of braiding a cornrow, she braided 2 long stands and sewed my extensions to a handing skinny braid. She didnt even bother to make the sides even. one side of the braid was above eye level, while the opposite side was below eye level. the worse part is that she cut my extensions. The next morning, one side of the extensions had slipped off. I sent a text and photos to the "stylist" asking her to redo. She responded telling me she wasn't going to be at work. I tried texting her after the weekend but she is now unresponsive. The salon is busy, so I assumed they would do a good job. Now I doubt the girl who did my hair had a license. Ive been getting extentions for 20 years. This was BY FAR the worst job ever!!! read more

I went in asking for a flat twist for a twist out. I came out with decent looking twists however, SAGE AKMAL put COPIOUS amounts of gel that clumped on my hair and took HOURS to dry then turned WHITE. Twist out day came DISASTER! I called on Thursday with the hope of being able to schedule a soft lock removal appointment with someone that next day. To my surprise the person that answered (Saige) had availability! I genuinely appreciate how kind and welcoming she was. I feared I would be shamed for asking her to remove work I disliked from a different stylist - not with RVM. She did not ask any questions nor showed any judgment to my need to remove these locs. I appreciate that she tapped KB in to assist making the removal take much quicker than expected. She even asked Charisma to wash and blow dry my hair after which I did not expect and greatly appreciated. Saige, KB, and Charisma were all extremely kind, welcoming, positive, and genuine. My stylist showed up an hour and a half late. That's right 90 minutes after the original time of the appointmet. Then, even though I sent her photos, she proceeded to braid how she pleased. I have lot of hair and usually use 2-3 packs. She used 1.5. And that's beause she was in such a hurry to gt to her next client that she shortchanged me and made huge parts and squares on my head. I have more scalp than braids showing, and that is NOT what i asked for. She was very nice -- everyone there was nice. But there's NO professionalism, and it's obvious the salon owner doesn't do any business trainingnof even have basic business standards. We talked over the phone discussed the style I wanted and she helped me figure out how much hair I needed. I had been going to a woman downtown but when she moved to New York I had to seek out another option. The first spot I found was... interesting. Didn't feel welcome so I did some research and found RVM twist. I called and a woman named Shavonne said she could book me the next day, love that. The shop is clean and has an awesome vibe, everyone socializing, good music on and just all around a great experience. The work I've seen and the work I've had done (all by Shavonne) is CLEAN. Shavonne accommodates my every request and I always end up with the exact style I want. We're basically besties now as for the price, it's pretty on par with all spots in LA but what makes it worth it is they will listen to you and give you the style you want and make sure you leave satisfied. My review is for a particular stylist named Erica @classicbraids310 on Instagram. Avoid going to her I wasted $250 on box braids that barely lasted a week. The booking process was easy but other than that there is absolutely no reason to spend your hard earned money with this stylist. I paid her $75 for a deposit and the day of my appointment she pushed me back about an hour, ok fine. I arrive on time and she is still braiding another girls hair. I sat there for over an hour then she finally started my hair. While braiding my hair she kept complaining about how thick my hair is. Mind you I am getting braids and never had a BLACK stylist complain about my texture. I requested small braids while booking but once she started braiding she said she can't do small braids because my hair is thick. Which I thought was wrong because small braids shouldn't be a be a problem for thick hair. Once she finished my hair I was impressed with the parting and quality of the braids. However, the style only lasted a week. After a few days the braids began to slip and my real hair twisted out of the braids. I text Erica telling her about my hair and she offered me half off if I book again for smaller braids. She continued to say small braids would work better for my hair. But sis while you were doing my hair you said small braids weren't possible. So now I know she was just being lazy read more

I think he has a great concept and business model going on with 3 different salons and I commend him for all he has achieved thus far. If I was rating his salons then it would be a 5 star. From what I saw the salons were clean and modern, but the 2 star rating was for Paige who works there due to her bad work ethic. Hopefully, Paige takes this feedback into consideration and ensures that she values all her customers time. She was weeks late schedule her son for our two week agreement and was still honored with the discount. She has broken many policies which has caused me to lose more money than her appointment cost.
