    Box braids

LaShanna is an extremely talented hair stylist. She was quick, detail oriented and extremely kind. Honestly these are the neatest/nicest best box braids I've ever had. I would HIGHLY recommend her shop. Thank you LaShanna God bless

Im sure you can see the knots.

I wanted to get knotless braids since I'd heard so many good things about them online. When I scheduled my appointment I specifically asked for knotless braids. After I was done at the shop I didn't really pay attention to the braids since I was tired and just ready to go home. I paid $250.00 plus tip for knotless braids but when I got home and actually looked at the braids l realized these braids had knots. I was was shocked. It was late, so first thing the next morning I called the shop to ask why I had regular box braids when I specifically asked for knotless braids. Update: I was able to reach the owner LaSahanna and we worked out an amicable outcome, and lm still rockin my beautiful box braids. Thank you LaShanna for being a stand up business owner!

LaShanna is the Belizian bomb diggity. Gave her second shot and got my braids updo done. Always professional and on time. Love how she appreciates all culture and welcomes them to business. She is a very humble stylist and has been braiding for almost 20 years so she knows how to read her clients. I was trying to incorporate a lighter look and so she did a great mixture of two colors. She took care and only 3 hrs for my braids, but then again I got a small head. Braids were tight and neat and she made sure all was good before I left out. Thanks for fabulous service.

Just got my hair done for the 2nd time at LaShanna's Braid Parlor and I am very pleased. The first time I got twbraids with bun in the back and the second time I got twist. It's very easy to schedule an appointment. The prices are posted on the wall, it is very affordable. The service is very professional. All of the braiders are very good. The shop is clean. I really appreciate that my braider did not stop and start.. I've had this happened in the past with other salons.. if they were receiving text messages.. so annoying. Things I didn't like, street parking only. It is cash only. You must bring your own hair. My last style my braider start doing box parting of my hair but at the crown she switched to diamond patterned which makes it more difficult to style, but overall I still love it. I do recommend this place and I will be back!

I called LaShanna several times before I came in. She was professional and patient on each occasion. When I finally got to the shop (without an appointment), I had minimal wait. The lady that braided my hair was amazing, professional, quick, and pain free. I will definitely visit the shop again.

Umm, I was hesitant about giving a review because I really don't like to give bad ones but I have to be fair and accurate. I wanted to get tree braids (which I haven't worn in awhile) for my birthday. I decided to try this place out. While the establishment itself is nice, I can't say so much about the service. The owner said I could expect for tree braids to take 6 hours to do. Well instead it took 12 HOURS! Never mind that in the middle of my hair being done, the lady did someone else's braids and I waited an hour and a half for that. I was the last one in the shop and I got that at 9am. Didn't leave until almost 9pm. Plus, it's only been a week and I already had ten braids fall out of my hair. I cringed when they were beading my edges because those usually come out first, with my edges. And I paid a pretty hefty amount to get them done. Can't say if I'll be back or not though.

    So neat! Love my hair

Love my hair! Joy took her time and gave exactly what I wanted! Did not hurt at all! So warm and welcoming!

I made an appointment to do box braids today, and I got them done by lashana herself, along with the help of another girl to do my hair ( I have alot of hair btw) lashana was overwhelmed with the hair I have but she did a good awesome job can't wait to come back for my second session of braids

I should have wrote this review awhile ago. I've been coming to LaShanna's for the past 4 years and they have never let me down. I started coming here because I was looking for a reliable braider after someone flaked on me last minute. I needed my hair done before Coachella. (This was the original year Bey was supposed to perform before she got knocked up). I was not about to be an anyone's desert with my natural hair getting dried out. Anyway I digress, I sent LBP a message via Yelp and they replied within a few hours letting me know they could accommodate me. I have had my hair braided there ever since then. The shop is always clean and set up nicely. Everyone is always on time and no waiting around. Everyone is friendly, very personable and professional. I have had my hair braided by Brandi and Sadè and they are both excellent! I'm a regular there now and my hair stays on point!

Yes it does cost more than the usual cost "in the area for synthetic small". Totally worth the wait, cost and time FOR THE QUALITY you receive. Highly recommend sade. The location you can spot while driving. I did not see parking other than street parking-the time is limited so be careful not to get a ticket. No wifi was made known to me BUT there is television the entire time. There were males, females, elderly and children being serviced while I was there. The shop itself was clean, the work area roomy and bright, the restroom-clean and the shop phone for service inquiries WAS NON-STOP. thank you sade-I love my hair.

    Small hip-length box braids
    Emmanuelle A.

I had such an amazing experience at LaShanna'a studio! I got small, hip length box braids and they came out sooo beautiful! Although the process was long, Amanda, was always very respectful, professional, and courteous! She also showed me how to care for my braids. And she even stayed *beyond* business hours in order to get the job done! It was pretty inspiring to see a team of young women who worked hard and produced such quality work. I'll definitely be back!

    Norma L.

I was messaging LaShanna through yelp and she gave me pricing and timing. I went in on a busy Friday afternoon right before closing. She was very friendly and welcoming. It took about 15 minutes for Brandy to braid my hair and she did an amazing job! I love my braids and I will definitely be back.

    Terri M.

I've been receiving professional braiding services from this establishment for a few years now. I am always satisfied. Always! This most recent experience was no different. Liz was professional, courteous, and fast. I love that ALL of the braiders in this shop are friendly, too. Other braiders in the shop have done my hair and I usually go to LaShanna. I'm here to tell that I'm comfortable with any one of these professionals doing my hair. I am particularly pleased with the way Liz braided my hair a few days ago. Thank you Liz!!!

Then I showed him a picture of me with the haircut I wanted (which was a burst fade Mohawk) and he proceeded to say "is that really you". This was at the beginning of the hair cut. Mid way he asked a second time if I had ever had this hair cut before which I answered yes. Also at the beginning he had mentioned how much are we taking off the top. I mentioned just a little bit and we can work our way down. When it came to cutting the top I feel he had gone too low. At that point I just wanted to get out of the chair. I waited 2 days to post this just to see if my hair needed to settle in since I went from a wild lions mane to what ever this short hair cut I have now. But no matter how much I attempt to style my hair it just looks dumb. My feedback to Hin is if you aren't confident in cutting someone's hair then please just say so. Or if your specialty is clean cuts then tell your client so they can make the decision of sitting in the chair. I may come back to try with someone else to cut my hair since I feel the people here have some skill.

It was my very first time with The Hideout Salon and not only was he understanding of any scheduling rearrangements we had to make, he also made sure to make it a point that we would be setting enough time aside for what we would anticipate needing so that when the time came, there would be zero rush along with top quality service which makes a huge difference in customer experience compared to factory booking which sacrifices quality, time, and attentiveness for squeezing in numbers, and as clients we all greatly appreciate this! While I was waiting Allie was very sweet and settled me in/welcomed me and offered me something to drink. The decor of the place felt very cozy and cute. If youre a dog lover you'll also be very happy to probably see a friendly cute Lil doggo named Carl (Karl?) comfortably shimmying his way around the shop (and if youre scared of dogs dont worry, he really just does his own thing Lol). Hes So darn cute and floofy. I came in for both a color and a consultation for a potential cut. Because I sometimes tend to notice/look at details that others may want to gloss over or perceive as me overanalyzing, it felt really difficult for me to explain to others how my recent haircut from another place just a month or two ago had specific lengths and cuts in specific areas going around my whole hair that had left my previous haircut feeling kind of "off" in certain ways and that I felt was giving my hair the very slight illusion of looking shorter than it actually really was and a little "choppy" in some areas, which then had an effect on how it framed my face/widened it instead of helping elongate it. But when I explained it to Daniel, he totally got it and even held up the individual sections that he agreed were causing those effects, why it was creating the effect that it was and how we would resolve it. I was so happy that he not only truly acknowledges and makes it important to understand where his clients are coming from (whether its concerns or goals etc) but that he also has such skill and knowledge to be able to fully do so and hit the nails right on the head. The color was also beautiful as well and because I wanted something that was healthier than permanent that would also give my hair a healthier appearance (ie shine, softness, gloss etc) he recommended the demi and also mentioned that it would make it easier down the road for me to go lighter if I ever wanted to. The color blended and matched so well with the rest of my hair and everything from the cut to the color made me feel like all of my goals were achieved. Everything Daniel did with my hair left me feeling so *Bonita*, and he was just such a joy to work with and an awesome person all around. Thank you Daniel for this lovely experience :) -------------------------------- Parking: Since the salon is in the heart of Downtown, its best to try and arrive a bit earlier than your appointment time and to be prepared for alot of one way streets and quickly turning into the available open public parking lots closeby before passing the salon (to avoid having to go further down in a circle to get back to the parking again). I believe there are 2 or 3 lots before you pull up to the salon that have big signs that say public parking. If youre driving towards the direction of the salon, out of the 3 the first one youll pass is just self-service/pay which was the one I parked in, and the other two have attendants as you pull up to the salon. Im not sure if both of those allow open access to all, so i will find out the next time I go again :) The front of the salon itself can be very easy to miss so just make sure to park before you even pass it on your GPS and youll see a small little sign over a door that says the Hideout salon when you walk up. There will be a door code for you to enter so just ask the salon for the door code in advance so that youre all set to go when you get there as well :)

It's a gorgeous setting and the entire team is incredibly warm and welcoming. Service: Daniel Apodaca is an exceptional talent. I went in for a brunette colour correction that took almost five hours, and every single minute was worth it. I trusted his judgement, his suggestions, and his overall vision for my hair, and I'm so glad I did. This is the first time in my life I've walked out of a hair appointment with my expectations truly exceeded. I left The Hideout completely blown away by the results and didn't feel the need to tweak, adjust, or "fix" anything afterward, which is rare. Even the blow-dry/silk press combo lasted a full week. Daniel is kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely lovely to spend time with. I've absolutely found my stylist and will 100% be back.
