I wanted to get knotless braids since I'd heard so many good things about them online. When I scheduled my appointment I specifically asked for knotless braids. After I was done at the shop I didn't really pay attention to the braids since I was tired and just ready to go home. I paid $250.00 plus tip for knotless braids but when I got home and actually looked at the braids l realized these braids had knots. I was was shocked. It was late, so first thing the next morning I called the shop to ask why I had regular box braids when I specifically asked for knotless braids. LaShanna is the Belizian bomb diggity. Gave her second shot and got my braids updo done. Always professional and on time. Love how she appreciates all culture and welcomes them to business. She is a very humble stylist and has been braiding for almost 20 years so she knows how to read her clients. I was trying to incorporate a lighter look and so she did a great mixture of two colors. Just got my hair done for the 2nd time at LaShanna's Braid Parlor and I am very pleased. The first time I got twbraids with bun in the back and the second time I got twist. It's very easy to schedule an appointment. The prices are posted on the wall, it is very affordable. The service is very professional. All of the braiders are very good. The shop is clean. I really appreciate that my braider did not stop and start.. I've had this happened in the past with other salons.. if they were receiving text messages.. so annoying. Things I didn't like, street parking only. It is cash only. You must bring your own hair. My last style my braider start doing box parting of my hair but at the crown she switched to diamond patterned which makes it more difficult to style, but overall I still love it. I am beyond disappointed in the unprofessional service I received yesterday from a stylist by the name of Liz. Couldn't have met a stylist worse than her. I took time off work and traveled very far for this appointment. So my question is this: Why take a deposit to reserve my time at 12:00, only for me to wait 1 1/2 hours to sit in your chair? That same rule should apply to you and not be one-sided. I showed up on time, why couldn't I get my hair done on time? A text message or phone call to say you're running late? Common decency. Finally, when I sat in the chair, after being called Jennifer several times (I had to remind her of my name), she asked to see the hair I bought. After showing it, she said the crochet style quoted over the phone for $150, would be $200 because it wasn't looped. Ok...you want me to pay $50 more than quoted after sitting and waiting for 1 1/2 hours to get service? You must be crazy lady. I'm sorry, you're insane! No apology for late service, discount, nothing. If anything, you need to be paying me the extra $50 for completely wasting my time. And, if that was the owner working next to you,she needs to stay out of grown folks businesz and invest in some training for both of you on how to properly run a business. I asked for my deposit back, received it and left with a smile, knowing that I'll never return nor ever recommend this place to anyone who values their TIME and MONEY. read more

Umm, I was hesitant about giving a review because I really don't like to give bad ones but I have to be fair and accurate. I wanted to get tree braids (which I haven't worn in awhile) for my birthday. I decided to try this place out. While the establishment itself is nice, I can't say so much about the service. The owner said I could expect for tree braids to take 6 hours to do. Well instead it took 12 HOURS! Never mind that in the middle of my hair being done, the lady did someone else's braids and I waited an hour and a half for that. I was the last one in the shop and I got that at 9am. Didn't leave until almost 9pm. Plus, it's only been a week and I already had ten braids fall out of my hair. I cringed when they were beading my edges because those usually come out first, with my edges. And I paid a pretty hefty amount to get them done. Can't say if I'll be back or not though. read more

I started coming here because I was looking for a reliable braider after someone flaked on me last minute. I needed my hair done before Coachella. (This was the original year Bey was supposed to perform before she got knocked up). I was not about to be an anyone's desert with my natural hair getting dried out. Anyway I digress, I sent LBP a message via Yelp and they replied within a few hours letting me know they could accommodate me. I have had my hair braided there ever since then. The shop is always clean and set up nicely. Everyone is always on time and no waiting around. Everyone is friendly, very personable and professional. Yes it does cost more than the usual cost "in the area for synthetic small". Totally worth the wait, cost and time FOR THE QUALITY you receive. Highly recommend sade. The location you can spot while driving. I did not see parking other than street parking-the time is limited so be careful not to get a ticket. No wifi was made known to me BUT there is television the entire time. There were males, females, elderly and children being serviced while I was there. Joy was nice but then she switched it to the African lady who is just downright rude and disrespectful (huffing) and then spent an HOUR putting in 12 braids. I told her it needed to be done in 5 hours and she literally kept taking breaks (talking on the phone, eating) so I had to finish it myself. This place is the best! They took me last minute on a Wednesday afternoon. The owner was so friendly and professional. I showed them the style I wanted and Brandy did it to perfection. The best part is how fast she braids! I was done in like 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. In fact, they all braid fast because two other girls were getting their hair braided at the same time so I could see how fast the other stylists were. I got my hair braided few months ago and it literally took 12 hours. I was not expecting to be in the shop a whole work shift and an half. I thought it would like maximum 8 hours. The shop itself is nice, just need to work on the speed when it comes to braiding. read more

I had had someone doing my hair but wanted to try someone else only because I would have an 11am appointment will literally walk out the salon at 1:30am, due to the fact that she would take people between me. I needed a new look and style as I am in business and often stand before other business owners in a seminar fashion. Sew in weaves had taken its toll so I resorted to corn roll in the front and then add a few tracks at the back so my hair could grow back around the edges and top. It was working and my hair line was returning. I then remembered that corn roll tree braids was the best style that I had in the past that produced significant hair growth. Not many non African shops do the tree braids corn roll style. The African shop will do individual tree braids but not corn roll tree braids. I was at an African braid shop two salons previously and the individual tree braid weave was thinking my hair out quickly. I requested the Corn roll style from the African shop and was referred to another salon altogether. I began my search on google. I found laShannas braid parlor and stopped by to get a feel of the shop, people and atmosphere. I liked what I saw and made and appointment. Below are the results. I am so happy with my hair style and at my brothers memorial service the hair was one thing I did not have to concern myself with. The conversation in the shop was so informative and pleasant.
