I had my hair bleached by Meina before, and I was happy with the results, so I went back for a touch-up. When I arrived, she welcomed me warmly, and I felt confident because my previous experience had been good. During the consultation, she quoted me a very high price for a bleach touch-up and toning. Even though it was expensive, I agreed because I had been satisfied the first time she did my hair. What I didn't know was that this visit would leave my hair severely damaged and broken. After the consultation, she started the bleach touch-up by herself. Several hours later, after my hair was washed, she applied the toner. When everything was done, I immediately noticed that my hair was nowhere near as light as I had asked for. Before starting, she had promised to make it as light as possible, but instead I ended up with a much darker color. What bothered me the most was how dark my roots turned out. The whole reason I get bleach touch-ups is to maintain a bright blonde color, so why would my roots be left this dark? When I mentioned it, she told me the color would get lighter over time, but honestly, it is way too dark. Most importantly, the hair on the top of my head has completely broken off. If I don't straighten it with a flat iron, my hair looks absolutely terrible. It is a complete mess. I am beyond upset and angry. I've thought about this for several days before finally deciding to leave this review. The salon itself had a great atmosphere, the music and vibe were nice, and the staff members were kind. However, after reading through other reviews, I now understand why there are so many negative comments about Meina. Many people mentioned that she has a bad attitude and doesn't treat clients well, and sadly, I believe those reviews are accurate. There were definitely moments when her tone came across as irritated or rude. I understand that accents and cultural differences can sometimes lead to misunderstandings, but as a paying customer, I came to this salon because I wanted a specific result. Instead, I left with a color I never wanted and hair that is so badly broken that I'm embarrassed to even go outside. It also makes me wonder why the owner has not addressed these ongoing complaints when so many customers have had negative experiences with Meina. This was my second time visiting this salon. Before my first appointment, I read several Yelp reviews where people highly recommended Meina, so I decided to book with her. My first visit was around February for a bang trim, and I booked with her again for this appointment. During my first visit, I only came in for a quick bang trim. The service itself was fine, but the interaction felt a little awkward or off to me. I thought maybe I was just being shy or overthinking it. At the end, she did offer me a Milkis drink and gave me her business card, which I appreciated. Today, I came in for another bang trim and also wanted to cover my gray hairs. When I sat down, she suggested toning my entire head because she said my hair "looked messy." I understand she was probably giving her professional opinion, and I wasn't offended, but I did feel like the wording could have been more tactful. I tried to start the appointment on a friendly note by saying, "How are you? I don't know if you remember me from last time when I came in for a bang trim." She smiled and said she remembered me, but after that, there was no conversation for the entire appointment aside from instructions like "chin up" or "chin down." I completely understand that some stylists prefer to focus while they work, but this is the first salon experience I've had where the stylist didn't really try to engage with me at all. After she finished applying toner, she offered me a Milkis drink before she left while my hair processed. She did check on me once before the full 30 minutes passed, which I appreciated. Once it was time to rinse, we went to the washing station. The chair reclined, and she kept asking me to push back and move my shoulders closer to the sink. I may not have understood exactly what she wanted, but her tone came across as a little irritated and unpleasant. During the wash, she asked someone to place a towel over my eyes. I then lay there for about 10-15 minutes in silence. Meina had left, but she didn't communicate anything like "I'll be right back" or let me know someone else would be taking over. When the towel was removed and I opened my eyes, it was a different person washing my hair. I realized Meina had gone back to her station to work on another client. I didn't mind someone else helping, but I wish that had been communicated to me. Afterward, the same guy blow-dried my hair. Once that was done, Meina came to me to cut my bangs and asked if I liked them. She then asked how I wanted my hair styled and instructed him to make it wavy before returning to her other client. When the styling was finished, she came back and suddenly seemed much more upbeat, complimenting my hair and saying I looked like a "baddie." While I appreciated the compliment, the shift in energy felt a little forced, especially since the rest of the appointment had felt cold and impersonal. To be honest, I think she was just being nicer for a better tip. I wasn't originally planning to tip 20% because the overall service felt off-putting, but since another person helped with washing, blow-drying, and styling my hair, I ended up tipping 20% anyway in case some of the tip went to him. Don't get me wrong, I do like how my hair turned out. However, for $375 for a bang trim and toner, I expected a much better overall experience and stronger communication throughout the appointment. Overall, the people who gave the best energy were the first guy who helped me with my robe and the person who handled my payment. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I originally came in to do a digital perm but during the consultation, Song mentioned after cutting the bleached ends of my hair off, my hair wouldn't be long enough to do a digital perm. I was pretty disappointed because I was getting my hair done for a special occasion. She pivoted and gave me two options: she could give me a nice cut and teach me how to style my hair, or we could try a cold wave perm. i decided to come here again after my last visit. i usually go to Asia for my haircuts, but i haven't gotten the chance to go and felt i needed it. i requested meina and she was absolutely amazing! i wasn't exactly sure what i wanted, but i knew i wanted more pronounced curtain bangs and to try some layers. i've had bad experiences before with getting layers, but wanted to give it another try. she was super nice and skillful. you start the experience with a wash, and then she goes into cutting. she will ask you exactly what length and style so be sure to have a picture if you have a style in mind! overall, loved the experience, and offered both me and my partner who came with me a soda which was super kind. if you wang a change of style, i definitely recommend meina as she is very skilled. i think layers still aren't exactly my style, but she's probably the only stylist that has cut my hair with layers that i felt actually still looked good. if you have gotten balayage in the past, i recommend going here as they know how to cut hair that has been dyed before in terms of parking, i think it's valet but since i had a 10 am appointment, they had not set up yet so i didn't have to pay!!!! read more

I've been debating making this review, but after consideration i'm going to tell you exactly how my experience was. I booked an appointment conveniently through Yelp. What I initially wanted/requested going into this appointment was a full head of bleached and toned ash pink hair. On the day of my appointment I was greeted warmly and enthusiastically by Jessica and her assistant. We started off with the consultation and price evaluation. I was advised that my hair was very damaged and dead and that it may be impossible to reach the color I had wanted/it would be double the price as they may have to bleach my hair twice. Now, I thought that was a bit weird as my hair isn't that dead or damaged and I already had a blonde balayage from previous salons, but i'm not a professional so I trusted their word for it. I was advised that my hair may break off if I went for a pink color on my whole hair and I did not want that to happen. I then requested to just retouch the balayage I ALREADY had hoping to reduce the cost and lessen the hair damage. Jessica stated she could do that, but at the SAME price as bleaching my whole hair. I trusted her expertise as this salon is popular amongst celebrities and influencers. Reminder, I already had a blonde balayage on my hair so it really didn't make sense to me to pay over $1k for a balayage, but I let her do her and didn't question it as I did sign a contract and I didn't feel like backing out. Her and her assistant worked different sides of my hair which is a key point for later. Once the bleach/toning was complete, Jessica stated she can put some color in it and use some pink shampoo to achieve a pink balayage. Don't get me wrong, she was super sweet and her assistant was very attentive. They provided me snacks/drinks as I sat there for a couple of hours. I did get a women's hair cut and Jessica offered to give me some waves to complete my look which I greatly appreciated. I wasn't really feeling the finished look and I was unhappy about the price. If I had wanted to touch up my balayage, I could have gone anywhere for a reasonable price. I thought it was very unreasonable to charge me over $1k and not touch up my roots. I had dark brown roots, a base orangish brown and a blonde balayage when I walked in. When I walked out of the salon, I still had my dark brown roots and a base orangish brown. The only difference was a hair cut and a touched up balayage with a lavender pink tint to it, but it didn't even look like a balayage it looked like low lights. :,( I have a hard time saying no to people/standing up for myself. This place is overhyped and overpriced. The lavender pink has now faded out of my hair leaving beige lowlights in my hair. Earlier, when I stated Jessica worked on one side of my head and her assistant did the other? Yea my lowlights are unevenly coated. The left side that Jessica did is more prominent than the right side. I can barely see the beige lowlights on the right side, it looks completely uneven. Muk is very detail-oriented: he took the time to check my hair before even doing any cutting, checked the reference pics I showed him, and then explained what he was going to do and how he'd adapt the haircut. On a technical level, I feel like his fade work is very good; sharp and a step above a lot of the Asian salons I've been to which tend to go for a more flowy/rough cut. He was also very meticulous about the size/placement of the perm curls. The overall result is pretty much what I was hoping for.
