let me start this review by saying you get what you pay for. The artistry of the final cut is definitely worth every penny, but the experience itself is why the price is what it is. Right when you walk in they have you walk immediately to the bowl to have your hair washed no consultation no looking at your hair first or asking what you want to do with it just straight into wash. After your hair wash they direct you to your chair and that is when they ask you what you want done to your hair. And then and then she cuts and blow drys your hair. When I called on the phone, they told me the price for a long haircut would be $50, and the price for hair that is "too long" would be $70. I asked what length is considered too long, and she said "the waist." My hair is nowhere near my waist--it's closer to my upper/mid back. But after the cut, they told me it would be $70. When I mentioned that I had called to confirm the $50 price, she then said that "too long" is the middle back or the bra line (when they originally told me waist on the phone). I only came here because I was told it would be $50. Otherwise, I would've just gone to Juno Hair for the same price and likely a better cut. My roommate and her bf both come to this salon and always rave about it so I had to visit (I'm due for a salon visit, trust!) I called in Friday afternoon and was able to book a next day appointment (so lucky!) I got here like 30min early cause wanted to beat la traffic lol by the time it was nearing my 12pm appointment, I got sent over to the hair wash station. The wash felt amazing (love a scalp massage during shampoo process) and the mint scalp treatment felt divine . Julie ended up cutting my hair - I got a layered cut! Love Cle Hair and the owner stylist May. Each time I leave completely satisfied with my hair. May understands the style I'm asking for and gets it done! Today I showed her a photo of the style I wanted, and she even took a picture of it to keep next to her as a reference while cutting. She is also a genuinely kind and honest person. There's never any shadiness about the pricing, she's always transparent and upfront. Also, her rates are very reasonable especially for the quality of the service you get. The salon itself is clean and spacious, with its own parking at the front and the back. Visiting Cle Hair always feels like a treat. My first visit to the salon last August was wonderful--I believe May was my stylist, and she did an amazing job fixing a choppy haircut I'd gotten elsewhere. She blended the layers beautifully, worked quickly, and was clearly very skilled. I was so happy that I decided this would be my go-to salon. However, during my second visit a few weeks ago (to fix another haircut I wasn't happy with from when I was visiting my hometown), I had a different stylist, and the experience wasn't the same. The layers ended up quite blunt and choppy, and while I tried to convince myself it wasn't too bad, I've noticed more over time that I dislike how it falls unless I style it a certain way. At first, I didn't realize how uneven it was because of how she styled it before I left. I do think this salon is a great affordable option, but if you go, I'd just recommend being mindful of which stylist you choose. My second visit felt a bit awkward--it seemed like the stylist wasn't fully engaged that day, which made the experience less pleasant. May was fantastic, though, so if possible, I'd definitely request her! read more

The quality of the haircut and overall experience far exceeds what you pay. She doesn't waste my or her time when I go, so it's not like you'll be sitting around all day for your appointment. I had a good experience with the lady who washed my hair but my haircut looks horrible. I went in for face framing and to cut my bangs...came out with chunky front layers and it almost seems like I'm wearing extensions. It's so unfortunate because it has taken me years and years to grow nice and healthy hair. I don't even think it's fixable. My hair was also thinned out and I wasn't asked before doing that. I've visited your salon 3-4 times, but my most recent visit was the worst experience. My haircut was very uneven, and you seemed to be in a bad mood the entire time. When it came time to pay, I used Apple Pay, but the machine froze. There was no issue between me and your staff -- we tried to scan again, but it still didn't work. Then you came over and said it wasn't working because the machine had two chips. As we tried again, my phone showed that the payment had gone through, so I asked if you had received it and showed you the notification. However, you responded in a very irritated manner and said it was still pending. You told me that if the money did go through, I could message you directly and you'd refund it -- which I was completely fine with. I was just about to ask if I should pay again using my physical card when you raised your voice and blamed the first failed attempt on the internet and the second one on me. I was honestly confused -- I didn't understand what I did wrong. I asked again if I should just use my card, and you replied, "It's up to you," in a very rude tone. I just want to say: please don't bring your emotions into your work. I saw how you took out your frustration on your staff, and unfortunately, the result showed in my haircut. I wanted to speak up, but your hostile attitude throughout my time in the salon made me feel that you weren't open to hearing anything. You were acting based purely on emotion. read more

I normally don't leave reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience. I recently visited this location and was disappointed with the level of customer service. The employee assisting me seemed to have difficulty communicating in English, which made it hard to explain what I needed. I even showed a photo of hairstyle that I wanted. After showing the photo, I felt rushed through the whole appointment. I understand that language barriers can happen, but when it affects the quality of service, it becomes frustrating as a customer. First and foremost - this is a salon ran by Koreans so if you do not speak the language, I would tread lightly here as English communication appears to be limited. I decided to try this place for a haircut based on a friend's recommendation who had a positive experience (mainly, she thought the pricing is fair). One catch - she's Korean and can speak the language, and I'm not. I had my reservations when booking an appointment that language might be an issue (based on the conversation) but decided to keep an open mind... On the day of my appointment, I had Julie as the stylist and the whole haircut took ~40 mins from start to finish, inclusive of wash. Early on, English communication was shown to be limited, however I showed her my pictures and trusted the process. Long story short, I was not happy with the haircut I ended up getting. I wanted little to minimal layers, but was given instead very sharp, blunt layers with no blending whatsoever. With communication being limited, I felt like there wasn't really much I can do and was left at hoping the cut wasn't too short so that I can have it salvaged if needed. I later realized Julie never 1) allowed me to see the back of my hair cut and 2) allowed me to see how my hair looked when dried post-cut to make sure it's ok before she proceeded to style it with curls at the end. The one specific request where I asked her to curl my hair in the other direction, she nodded and but then ignored my request by continuing with what she was doing affirmed my sentiment that even had I been more vocal about my preferences throughout the cut, the language barrier/communication problem would still have been an issue. As for the end result, besides being deeply dissatisfied with my haircut - I ended up purchasing hair cutting scissors and blended out the ends of my hair to improve the haircut. However I believe for the $55 price tag, I deserve better and shouldn't need to go through this process. I've been to both lower end $20-$30 and higher end $70 - $80 hair cut spots and I would say either spots sound like better options for their price points (lower end will still have the language barrier, but it's excusable at that price point vs higher end tend to better tailor to your requests)   Tl;dr - do not recommend this place if you can not speak Korean. Unless you like fast and blunt cuts with layers, I would stay away from this place. My experience aligns with the low star reviews so be forewarned. read more

I first called to ask about hair coloring and they said it was 140-160 on the phone. However, when I got there, they told me it was 180 which was higher than expected, but I proceeded with the hair coloring. The salon was well kept and clean. I wanted to get a light brown color up to a 6-7, but they said that they could only lift my hair to 4-5 since it was previously dyed and wasn't virgin hair. I was okay with that, however after they finished with my hair, the color came out darker than the hair color I came in with and was super black. They said it would lighten up with time and that it would be brown in a couple weeks. A few weeks passed and I called them because the color wasn't getting any lighter and I was still charged 180. On the phone, I was told the color actually didn't work and every time I tried to say anything at all, I was interrupted and it was really difficult to talk. The owner said that my virgin hair at the top however lightened a bit, so if I wanted to fix anything, she would make my hair darker so that the top hair matched the rest. However, I would still pay for the materials used to make my hair darker when I didn't even want it dark. Overall, I didn't have the best experience here and I've been told I got scammed multiple times cause my hair was indeed not any lighter. If you wanted a haircut thought or just styling, then from what I've seen, it could be nice. read more

I've been getting my roots touched up with bleach for 10 years now. This was hands down the worst it's ever been done. Root touch up was $160. The price of bleach and toner/color afterwards has always been combined, so it didn't even cross my mind to ask if the color was a separate charge. So they bleached my roots, which was very poorly done. I've never had such brassy roots in my life. And they were going to just let me walk out like that lol. I would have, but I had a big gig I needed to look decent for the next day, and I had no way of knowing if I'd be able to find another salon that same day. They told me if I wanted color I had to pay an additional $160. So I paid $320 total for the crappiest root touch up ever, which I'll now have to pay extra to get fixed elsewhere. Please save yourself the hassle and don't go here for your color. I'm giving it 2 stars bc the cut was decent. If this app allowed it, they would get negative stars for the root touch up. I recently got my hair cut by May. She was kind, listening attentively when I asked questions about hair care, and even offering an ice cream at the end. Before she started cutting my hair she confirmed how many inches I wanted to cut off, explained how the style would look on me, and even showed me the amount of hair after the first cut. She was fast but efficient, you can tell she has a ton of experience cutting hair and cutting it well. At the end of it, she also showed me the back of my hair. It's been a while since a stylist has done that! Parking was a little hard (only 2-3 spots in the front) but I came at an odd time so it was relatively easy. The price was reasonable for a long hair.
