Curls one on one took me from brunette to blonde while still maintaining my curl pattern. They were so mindful and careful with my crown. Not only that but the entire staff creates such a safe and uplifting environment. Everyone was so sweet, so fun. They really boosted my energy and confidence and I am so grateful to have found them!!

I LOVE this place! I trust no other place with my curls at least when it comes to the cut. I've had some disastrous cuts due to the lack of knowledge from the person cutting my hair when it comes to curls. From my very first appointment with Donatella to my most recent it has been exceptional. I booked it through Vagaro. She does get booked up quickly so it does takes patience. The first time I booked the appointment I had to wait 2 months but I really wanted my hair cut by someone who had knowledge and experience with curls and was not disappointed. Since then I get my hair cut every 6 months. The price has gone up but what hasn't! It comes with the cut, deep conditioning, and styling. If you have questions Donatella is always happy to answer. Her salon is a small space where other stylist have their own space. It's called Salon Republic. It's a small team but they make you feel like family. It's clean and friendly.

Donatella is one of the warmest and sweetest women I've ever met in my life. I'm not exaggerating. She not only transforms your hair in a way you wouldn't think possible , she does it in such a loving and caring way that makes you feel right at home. I have been their client for years but when I had my babies I did a few years of permanent straightening that left my hair lifeless and terrible looking. Went back to Donatella after 4 years and she did her magic. I'll just let the before-after picture do the talking...

He got upset because I corrected him I'm trying to load the vm as I type of the bs he left me

These people are SO unprofessional, the receptionist is a HOT RUDE MESS! I am in Hawaii on vacation I'm on a boat when I get a text message from Donatella's rude receiptionist. Now I have heard he's rude, disrespectful and talks to you aggressively and is not friendly at all. I recently moved back from NC, I have a career which is in high demand not sure if anyone else knew or heard of the pandemic well a virus that killed millions called Covid made itself known. So you've guessed it I work in a HOSPITAL! Not sure if folks know it's considered frontline because this establishment wasn't aware of the pandemic or virus the seriousness of it and how you really shouldn't be around folks if you've been exposed. I've actually caught Covid at work twice. And these people still obvi wanted me to come in and have their business shut down for cleaning. Well we will never know at this point. I am very honest and won't go somewhere if I can expose people to this virus that's killed many. So instead I "RESCHEDULED" my appointment not canceled but RESCHEDULED that means try for another date and time. Because they obvi think canceled and rescheduled is the same thing. Now I could have been like others and roam the streets and spread it without saying a word right?! well I don't do things like that it's dangerous and it's irresponsible. I actually started going to this place in 2016 left Cali in 2019 I even came back asked could she do my hair for my wedding she said "NO" I should have known then but you will see why below.Well the clerk messages my phone and says I'm going to charge you the cancelation fee for your appointment tomorrow which is 06/20 my appt is for 06/22 he decides he wants to cancel after he called my phone leaving a vm on some bs. I'm on a boat living my BEST entire life! Covid finally died down I'm out here living !!! I don't have time to interrupt my selfies to argue with a clerk. Once I heard the tone of his vm my tone changed as well. First you hit me with the wrong date, your grammar and tone was irking me and the vm you left was trash. You're making executive decisions on a call centers salary sir have several seats! The fact the Donatella allowed him to do this is mind boggling When I use to frequent them Emily use to color my hair because I didn't have 20k followers on social media now that I think about it Donatella did my hair one and a half times I traveled from Corona, CA in LA traffic btw and Emily did my hair two to three times, Ezzy maybe once and once they left me hanging had her brother who stocks the place, sweep the floors and talks shi*. I was so bothered by the clerk I reached out to Donatella immediately via Instagram I didn't even go under a photo because I wanted to keep it cute. She did what most people do that are not smart when it comes to customer service and earning a coin or shall I say KEEPING THE COIN SECURING THE BAG she sided with her employee lol I've given you 100's of dollars even after she told me she doesn't charge influencers what she charges us common folk . Now Donatella knows good and well IVE PAID to sit in that salon She doesn't charge influencers what she charges us, she told me majority of the influencers are rude and don't take any advice she gives in regard to maintain their curls. I came in wanting to learn, kept it cute on mute and was NOTHING but nice to these girls every single visit and you allowed a Clerk tell me I can't schedule anymore because I cancel appointments. Could he not see my history of payments?? Donatella knows we've had conversations on influencers vs us common folk I was a loyal customer to her moved out of state and came back. The influencers would demand appointments even when they were sick or dealing with stuff and they would break their necks in the clinic to see them. But I'm a "nobody" so hey your business doesn't matter here which is completely fine I want to be treated fair so her season of playing in my hair was up. I can't move quick enough to confirm my appointment for Wed you're mad. Especially on Juneteenth this is a HOLIDAY leave me alone! As for me I will fly back to Charlotte to get my hair done or find someone who specialize in ethnic curly hair and not trying to capitalize off the culture period!

    My cut

if you have curls please come by to CurlsOneonOne, they have a very safe environment the stylist " Donatella" is absolutely incredible and has an amazing attitude and is extremely skilled. She took time to tell me which products to use, styling tips and much more, it's safe to say she's a pro at her line of work and so are the other stylist who take their job extremely seriously! 100% going back and recommending all my fellow curly heads!

    Before

I have been going to Ezzy for color and styling for almost 7 years now and she still impresses me every time. I have extremely THICK hair and ezzy and Donna are both magicians. After walking out of the salon I can easily go a week and a HALF without washing it and still receive compliments. If you're lucky enough to get an appointment, DO IT!

    Viktoria T.

Donatella and her team are amazing. They work with so much care and passion to give you the best experience. Donna is my favorite, and no one else style my hair since I met her 6 years ago. Thank you for everything you do Donna, Ezzy, Besi and Charles.

We took our granddaughter down to get her hair and she did a wonderful job on her hair I would recommend her to everyone.

Donatela and Ezzy are a gift to all women that enter their salon. I have never felt so good about my curls! My hair has never been healthier, the color is just so perfect. Ezzy's & Donatela's attention to detail and the way they cut & color curl by curl is just something else.

I need a root touch up, but I wanted to show a picture not fresh from the salon so you can see how they've taught me to maintain my own curl
    Chrystel C.

I almost don't want to write this review and keep this amazing place a secret or word of mouth, in the know spot. But that is not realistic and every curly haired person should know about the amazing talents of Ezzy and Donatela. They were recommended to me a few years ago and once I got in I've never or will never leave them! Like many with curls we would go to stylists and colorists that were good, but not good with curls. We tolerated the wet haircuts and eh color jobs. Never truly happy with either. How many of us ended up with mushroom head, $400 highlights that looked the same as when you went in, hair falling out from terrible bleach jobs, asking for 3 inches cut to see 8 inches on the ground, etc. I finally did myself a favor and went to a curly hair specialist in San Diego who recommended Curls One on One to me when she got too busy. It was meant to be because Ezzy and Donatela have given me the curls and color I've always wanted. They are always accommodating to my schedule. I realize they are in demand though and do my part to be flexible with my schedule too. Be realistic folks, there are only 2 of them and their amazing assistants. Don't only give them one day/time you can do and get upset if they can't accommodate you. Give them a few options and I promise you they will do everything they can to work with you. They are honest and realistic about what your curls can be. Their goal is to keep your hair healthy while giving you an amazing style and color. They refused to bleach my whole head when I wanted to go pure blond and boy am I glad they did. They will get you to what you want while keeping your hair healthy. I think the pricing is very fair and on par for the L.A. area. You will pay more than going to a run of the mill hairdresser, but you get what you pay for. And it is WORTH IT!!!! Invest in yourself and quit trying to bargain shop on your most important asset - You!!! I moved to AZ a few months ago, but refuse to leave Ezzy and Donatela. I simply catch a flight to L.A. when I need my hair done. I already know I won't find anyone comparable in AZ. or any other state so why bother. Thanks Curls One on One for showing me how to love my curls! *forgive the typos, spell check and grammerly are not know it alls*

Updating this review only to say that I am so glad they're still booked and busy - but sad that I can't get in until October!!! I wish there was a process for returning clients to get some sort of priority. A friend of mine somehow managed to get a quick response and appointment the same week so here's hoping I can get in sooner than October.

Top: Very flat and dry and damaged. No product. Bottom: after Donatela worked her magic! Has a better shape.

Ask the Community - Curls One On One

How do I make an appointment?

What products do the use when styling hair? I love the Devacut method but unfortunately DevaCurl products don't work for me.

Since the Devacurl products scandal, they've been limiting their use of their products. They use curl smith and nyc hair products for the most part

Do you guys do rezo cuts as well? I actually prefer that cut over devacut. What is the price for a cut and what is the price for pintura highlights? What products do you guys use for shampoo, condition, and style, and color as well?

I don't believe they do "rezo cuts" as it is not listed on their booking site. The price of the cut currently is $200. It includes a cut, wash, deep condition and style. Pintura highlights are $300. They used to use all devacurl products but I… Read more

How much is a cut for a 14 year old girl?

Children’s Devacut is $120 and includes cut, shape, wash and style.

How long does the Deva Cut usually take from start to finish?

Depending on individual’s hair the cut, shape, wash and style can take up to 2.5 hours.

How much for the first cut? and does it include a style?

Women’s Devacut is $200 and includes cut, shape, wash and style.

How much is a cut generally?

$160 for women's haircut. That includes consult, wash, condition, style and instructions on upkeep. You'll also be advised that curly hair only needs to be cut every 4 to 6 months

Just wondering if the price for a curly cut is fixed or not? I have really thin hair and not very much of it! Thanks!

Yes. That's the price. Very fair in BH for what you get. A consult, a cut, wash, deep condition and style. They also give you so much information. It's a lengthy process so think about the dollars in that sense...your hair will thank you for it.

How much would a quick deva cut (only dusting, not cutting) and color (probably highlights) be?

The haircut is $120 and worth every penny! It's a dry cut so they make sure they cut for how your curls curl. Give them a call and they'll give you rest of prices. Hope this helps!

If I book an appointment for a Devacut do I also need to book an appointment for a wash & style as well?

    No it’s included

Do they work with kids hair?

Curls OneOnOne Salon does work with kids hair.

Is there a place doing the same work near SF?

YASS I used to go to Alchemy Salon for my DevaCurl haircuts, they serve nespresso and Madelines because cuts and color can take up half a day!

Hi, does anyone know the price ranges for haircuts (I have long hair) & color?

Hello there deva cuts starts at 120 and up depending on the length color starts at 120 for a single process and for highlights starts at 225 and up

Then I showed him a picture of me with the haircut I wanted (which was a burst fade Mohawk) and he proceeded to say "is that really you". This was at the beginning of the hair cut. Mid way he asked a second time if I had ever had this hair cut before which I answered yes. Also at the beginning he had mentioned how much are we taking off the top. I mentioned just a little bit and we can work our way down. When it came to cutting the top I feel he had gone too low. At that point I just wanted to get out of the chair. I waited 2 days to post this just to see if my hair needed to settle in since I went from a wild lions mane to what ever this short hair cut I have now. But no matter how much I attempt to style my hair it just looks dumb. My feedback to Hin is if you aren't confident in cutting someone's hair then please just say so. Or if your specialty is clean cuts then tell your client so they can make the decision of sitting in the chair. I may come back to try with someone else to cut my hair since I feel the people here have some skill.

I came in with messy, flat hair and just needed help. I asked for her recommendation and she absolutely delivered. Micheala is so talented, experienced, personable and professional. She gave me a hairstyle that is easy to maintain everyday but still look glamorous and honestly feel like I look 5 years younger. And I kid you not this is the first time my husband has noticed and complimented my hair. That alone says everything. What a fitting name: Theodora Har Salon, truly a "gift of God." I feel so blessed to have found this place. Highly recommend and definitely ask for Michaela!

It was my very first time with The Hideout Salon and not only was he understanding of any scheduling rearrangements we had to make, he also made sure to make it a point that we would be setting enough time aside for what we would anticipate needing so that when the time came, there would be zero rush along with top quality service which makes a huge difference in customer experience compared to factory booking which sacrifices quality, time, and attentiveness for squeezing in numbers, and as clients we all greatly appreciate this! While I was waiting Allie was very sweet and settled me in/welcomed me and offered me something to drink. The decor of the place felt very cozy and cute. If youre a dog lover you'll also be very happy to probably see a friendly cute Lil doggo named Carl (Karl?) comfortably shimmying his way around the shop (and if youre scared of dogs dont worry, he really just does his own thing Lol). Hes So darn cute and floofy. I came in for both a color and a consultation for a potential cut. Because I sometimes tend to notice/look at details that others may want to gloss over or perceive as me overanalyzing, it felt really difficult for me to explain to others how my recent haircut from another place just a month or two ago had specific lengths and cuts in specific areas going around my whole hair that had left my previous haircut feeling kind of "off" in certain ways and that I felt was giving my hair the very slight illusion of looking shorter than it actually really was and a little "choppy" in some areas, which then had an effect on how it framed my face/widened it instead of helping elongate it. But when I explained it to Daniel, he totally got it and even held up the individual sections that he agreed were causing those effects, why it was creating the effect that it was and how we would resolve it. I was so happy that he not only truly acknowledges and makes it important to understand where his clients are coming from (whether its concerns or goals etc) but that he also has such skill and knowledge to be able to fully do so and hit the nails right on the head. The color was also beautiful as well and because I wanted something that was healthier than permanent that would also give my hair a healthier appearance (ie shine, softness, gloss etc) he recommended the demi and also mentioned that it would make it easier down the road for me to go lighter if I ever wanted to. The color blended and matched so well with the rest of my hair and everything from the cut to the color made me feel like all of my goals were achieved. Everything Daniel did with my hair left me feeling so *Bonita*, and he was just such a joy to work with and an awesome person all around. Thank you Daniel for this lovely experience :) -------------------------------- Parking: Since the salon is in the heart of Downtown, its best to try and arrive a bit earlier than your appointment time and to be prepared for alot of one way streets and quickly turning into the available open public parking lots closeby before passing the salon (to avoid having to go further down in a circle to get back to the parking again). I believe there are 2 or 3 lots before you pull up to the salon that have big signs that say public parking. If youre driving towards the direction of the salon, out of the 3 the first one youll pass is just self-service/pay which was the one I parked in, and the other two have attendants as you pull up to the salon. Im not sure if both of those allow open access to all, so i will find out the next time I go again :) The front of the salon itself can be very easy to miss so just make sure to park before you even pass it on your GPS and youll see a small little sign over a door that says the Hideout salon when you walk up. There will be a door code for you to enter so just ask the salon for the door code in advance so that youre all set to go when you get there as well :)

It's a gorgeous setting and the entire team is incredibly warm and welcoming. Service: Daniel Apodaca is an exceptional talent. I went in for a brunette colour correction that took almost five hours, and every single minute was worth it. I trusted his judgement, his suggestions, and his overall vision for my hair, and I'm so glad I did. This is the first time in my life I've walked out of a hair appointment with my expectations truly exceeded. I left The Hideout completely blown away by the results and didn't feel the need to tweak, adjust, or "fix" anything afterward, which is rare. Even the blow-dry/silk press combo lasted a full week. Daniel is kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely lovely to spend time with. I've absolutely found my stylist and will 100% be back.
