I asked the order taker on many occasions NOT to put my toppings on my pancakes. It makes them too soggy before I eat and I was having my food delivered. If course they did exactly that. I called and told them immediately. I also explained that I used a delivery service. I was told that I could come up there and pick up some more now. I asked could he give me some in another day because I had no way to get them. He responded "No"." We are very just here." My family and I went there for brunch today. I bragged about the restaurant's excellent atmosphere and delicious food. Today my food was obviously cold after having been out for a while, because both the pancakes and the grits had hardened. I selected the fifteen-minute catfish breakfast. All of the platters were delivered cold, I had three guests. The hot item was the fish! The owner was there and he knew that food had been sitting out for a long time, yet he still served it. When I spoke to him about it, he was rude and disrespectful. Value your dollar and go where you will be respected. read more

Me,my mom,and one of my cousins latest restaurant visit together.This is a restaurant my cousin likes.It was 2018 since the last time she came here.Based on how good the Fried Catfish breakfast looked that she ordered again,i can at least see why she came back here.Her "breakfast" also came with grits.My mom ordered the chicken and waffles.The chicken portion of her "breakfast" was very good looking,and crispy pieces that looked more like chicken fingers instead of old-fashioned pieces of fried chicken.The waffle was a decent looking Belgian one.My cousin told me that mom ate her entire meal.It looked like something i would finish personally.I ordered their gyro omelette.I chose their hash browns and 2 buttermilk pancakes as my side choices to eat with it.I got "feta cheese" added to my omelette.The taste of the "feta cheese" was so powerful,i couldn't really taste the flavor of the gyro meat in the omelette.That's very strange to me,unless the gyro meat wasn't freshly made the day of my order.The so-called "hash browns" were substandard aka tasteless and inferior.The 2 buttermilk pancakes were kind of fluffy and not that bad.I am still shocked nowadays whenever i find out that a restaurant i have never been to before has "soda water".This restaurant has it fortunately.Our waitress was obnoxious,rushing me to decide what i wanted from the menu.She wasn't rude to my mom and my female cousin though.She acted like this after i clearly said that i was ready to order.Unless she has hearing issues as a senior citizen female,she heard me nice and clear when i said i was ready to order.One of the urinals in the restroom was disgustingly filthy with somebody's hair on the bottom front part of it.The seating was a combination of chairs that were not to comfortable looking and decent enough bench seating.Unlike a certain deeply racist pizza restaurant in Chicago that was on the local news very recently,we was actually able to get a comfortable bench for our seating fortunately.If you're a certain demographic of color,you don't have to worry about being placed in a "Rejection Section" only for the most deliberately uncomfortable seating,because they don't have one. read more

Today's my birthday and my daughter treated me to a takeout breakfast. I ordered an omelette, hash browns and wheat toast. Plenty of food and everything was good except for the toast which was burned. The server/cook saw that the toast was burned when they wrapped it and put in the takeout bag. It was inedible and I threw it in the garbage which is what they should have done at the restaurant. I used to visit this restaurant quite often years ago and was treated out to breakfast this past weekend. I ordered the turkey skillet with pancakes but I must say they definitely changed some things. The skillet was somewhat tasty but they don't give you as much as they used to. 5 stars for how quick they brought my food out (literally like 7 minutes) and 3 stars for the overall quality. I finally had time set aside from my busy schedule to sit and enjoy breakfast. I just wish I had gone to another establishment. The French Toast was so "eggy" it should have been called Egg Toast. I informed the kitchen and management immediately that I didn't like the smell or the look of the toast. They told me I had to still pay for it and could not get a substitute like pancakes. The cheese would not melt on the eggs and I was told that they now use a cheaper cheese product; and have received many complaints about it. It's not okay as a hospitality restaurant to not take into consideration the needs of those you serve. I have been to upscale places as well as holes in the wall and never been told that the kitchen can't substitute an item with an apology. I'm never going back!!!! read more

While you may not get the top-of-line breakfast experience you would get at someplace like OHOP, and may not the same lunch and dinner experience you'd get at a place like Applebee's, what you will get is a slightly better than average breakfast, lunch, and dinner experience combined. The wait to be seated is never too long and you always get your food exceptionally quick too. With decent food at decent prices and kind waitresses, I'd say that Starlight is a solid diner to visit if you're in the neighborhood. Worse Customer service I have seen in a long time. I was not dining in, this was for a take out. I called to place my order . The woman who answered the telephone stated her name was Tammy. I was placed on hold so long, I hung up. I did make the effort to call back and the phone remained busy. First time at this restaurant and the very first thing I noticed was the extremely dirty carpet. If they don't care to clean and put forth a good first impression, then I didn't want to think about the kitchen. Today I stopped by in between visiting another Church and just wanted to get dinner as a carry out, I ordered a full meal and a side meal, I asked the waitress prior to ordering how long would it be she stated about 15 minutes so 45 minutes later I'm still waiting for order to be completed but greek potatoes was not ready the waitress repeatedly asked the chefs where's the potatoes in which they had never started preparing so I asked what else could I get in the potatoes place and she said Mashed potatoes I asked her what do you do to compensate the customer for a long carry out and not having the order originally placed? the waitress looked at the co-owner and he rudely said to me quote" you're not special and you get nothing and ask me who did I think I was and there's no set time on orders" un quote I said you don't need to be to me in the Tone, he was very, very, nasty and as an African American Women and his facial expression he felt privileged that it was ok to speak to me in this manner...
