My mom always enjoys trying the newest nail salons in the area and suggested we check this place out. Upon arriving I was shocked to see it completely Empty on a holiday - MLK Monday. The staff appeared to be a mother, father and daughter trio working. All of them were super friendly and welcoming. We opted for the spa pedicure, I agree with another review left that they do great pedicure. Their chairs are brand new, super comfy +clean and the women doing the pedicures were both really thorough! They did the dip powder mani differently then most places I go to, because they didn't use a base coat of clear powder before applying the color. Not sure what the reasoning is behind this but it appears to be okay? ThE nails are lasting.... lol The only downside here was for a Mani and pedi we were there for 2 1/2 hours. It was odd because we were the only people there so it definitely wasn't due to a wait. I didn't mind the time as I wasn't in a rush and I got to really relax but my mom was frustrated by how lono it toOk... can't ein tHem all I guess! I did wind up going back the next day bEcause both my of my big toe nails were messed up from putting my shoe on and the daughter workking there was so sweet and fixed themm both for me! I frequented this place for the last 6 years. This place has drastically declined in quality, infection control and professionalism. I will not be back. I went in yesterday for a pedicure and the girl tries hard to upsell a gel manicure..I declined. She then makes the water way past a safe temp and tells me to put my feet in, without even testing the water. It burned! I had to tell her it was way to hot. She then goes on to say that she only applies 1 coat of polish so it will only last a few days.... Excuse me?? for alost $40, it better last more than a few days. She then puts on the wrong color and became argumentative after i pointed out the wrong color. I take time out of my day to relax and have something done for me not go and have to argue with mean and inattentive "techs" who dont seem to have much experience and rush through everything. I am usually a big tipper but I had no problem leaving a $3 tip for a half ass job with a bad attitude. I had to get to work so i didnt share with her my deepest thoughts. WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME. THERE ARE TO MANY OPTIONS TO HAVE TO SETLLE FOR SERVICE LIKE THIS. Then rushed through the raggedy service. I know that they are all not like this but for the owner to tolerate an employee like this gives me pause before further patronizing this nailery. Normally I like this place but service yesterday was very rude. It was Sunday and place "closes" at 6. I came in earlier for pedicure and was in drying station still at 6:15 pm. The place had other customers getting nails done at stations. The lady who did my pedicure was sweeping and walks over to me and says "ok honey you are done " and shuts off blower to escort me out. I don't know why she was throwing me out when others were there still getting services done and I wanted extra time to make sure my 3 coats nail polish dried thoroughly. She nearly shoves me out door and then stops bends down and rips the toe separators from my foot'. Really??? Like I need your 3 cent toe separators. I'm telling you some of them come off as rude and you can tell they talk about customers in Vietnamese. Just her rude behavior at end of night is why I will not be back at all. I have been coming here for years, and bringing my daughter as well. The prices are great, the place is so clean, and they have some excellent nail techs. I know some people get peeved that they prefer cash, but it has never bothered me. They have nice options for spa pedicures and really take their time. They have lots of options for polish types. Jing is the best - she can match any photo I show her from Pinterest. There are many other wonderful techs. I have been coming to this salon for about a year now, and always liked the service, but my experience this evening was not enjoyable. The nail tech seemed inexperienced and she was very rough. I felt like she was using the nail file more on my fingertips than my nails. I had to tell her several times to be more gentle. The manicure looks fine but I don't feel relaxed. Neither the pedicure or the manicure felt relaxing. I have been very stressed out and now I'm stressed and disappointed. Usually I'm very anxious getting my nails done and do not feel particularly welcomed, but at Starlight I had the complete opposite experience. No anxiety at all! I was going to this place for about six months I really like their spa package but just recently I went. I started getting the SNS dip powder for my nails because it's healthier than gel. I was very disappointed in my last service because she was trying to re-dip my nails without giving me a manicure and then she tried to remove the old nails with a credit card or a septa pass. I don't know what it was it look like a trans pass. Very rude when I tried to tell her to stop. I felt like my appointment was rushed. So I let her remove my nails the correct way. I've been going to this salon for over a year I love the environment typically and I recommend to people. I usually do walk-in's which is ok and I don't mind waiting. I waited over an hour for acrylics which was ok because I was a walk in. When it was finally my turn the lady i got comes over and was really rude when I told her and showed her a picture of the color that I wanted she began making comments and so forth. When I got asked about shape I said oval shaped and she proceeded to look up a picture of the shape and made a comment saying that it is almond shape and it's not oval she then made it seem like I was wrong. When shaping my nails I didn't like the way the shape was they were very pointy which I didn't want. She then kept asking me if the shape was ok bc she knew they were right and I asked very nicely and apologized before hand asking for my nails to be a tad more rounded. She then stops what she's doing and starts yelling I asked you about the shape 100 of times and you now tell me. I pulled my hands away apologizing and said forget about it and I'm sorry. She made another comment and I start to cry I don't like confrontation and was upset bc I was confused. She made a comment about me crying and her boss then comes over and says something about how I got her in trouble. I said I'm sorry and I'm having a bad day which was true. I explained that I had a lot going on but truly was upset with comments that were made. After that when finishing up painting my nails she goes do you want a third coat I said whatever you would like and she proceeded to say I'll do a third coat so you don't complain. A friend and I came in for manicures as walk ins. When we were asked what we wanted we said both manicures but then were directed to a pedicure station with the water running. I turned to them and said "no we wanted manicures" and had to repeat ourselves many times. There seemed to be some confusion which I have never experienced before in a nail salon. Once we were finally understood, we were asked what we wanted. I made it clear I wanted black and silver gel polish with a design. Another woman sits at the nail station and pulls out a box of nail tips and glue. I had to say I didn't want that, I wanted normal gel polish on my natural nails with a design. Finally get sat with someone and I told them I wanted black gel polish on my natural nails with a simple white cute ghost and my ring finger a silver gel polish with a black spider web; I showed reference pictures. There was confusion on what silver polish was or something because they kept showing me different colors that was not silver. I had to point to the small silver fan on the station. Again, confusion that I have never experienced before in any nail salon. I was getting very nervous. The girl who painted my nails was very detailed, made sure the polish cover my entire nail and didn't leave any on my skin. She was very detailed with my design. I'm not upset that she took some creative liberties with the design but I am going to a wedding next weekend and wanted them to be more simple and clean in the design. They are cute, but not what I asked for. There is always some language barrier you got to work through at nail salons which I'm used to but never in my 30 years of getting my nails done have I ever had so much trouble trying to clear up so much unnecessary confusion and then come out with something I am ok with by really didn't even ask for. I felt like I was being a Karen the whole time and was trying really hard not to be but when a nail salon starts you on a pedi when you clearly asked for a mani and then just starts putting tips on you and this you supposed to your daily profession, something doesn't feel right. Well I went with my mom the other day and we both got pedicures while she got dip nails (don't know the term) and I got a full acrylic set. Personally my pedicure was great! I loved it, but my acrylics were a little bit un even and the shapes on some of my nails are completely different which doesn't bother me too bad. Over all my moms nails were also a bit un even and slanted which she hates. Other than that it's amazing! I liked it there so I'd prolly recommend it read more

I went over to pick some colors and was surprised by how much variety they had especially with nail art like stickers and gems. However, the design I wanted was hand painted. I chose my color and waited until someone was available to do my nails. The lady was super nice and I showed her the nails I wanted, to which she responded that she could do something better. This is the worst place to do your nails. Fist time i went there they cut my finger and I didn't pay attention to that because I thought it was an accident. So I went there a second time and they did even worse job, cut my cuticle, burned me with a nail file and the edges of my nails were not straight. Then, when i went to take my acrylics off they tried to just rip them off and didn't stop until I told them that it hurts THREE times. Then they made me soak my nails in acetone and it took me a month to recover my nails from that damage. And finally turned out they gave me a nail fungus that I have to cure for 6-12 weeks. I really wish I knew how to get my money back. I would just forget about it and never come back again but now I have an infection and have to spend more money to cure it. read more

I've been here several times and originally enjoyed the service, however, after today I will not return. The time before this it rubbed me wrong when one of the owners (a woman) asked that I tip in cash next time, right after I left over a 20% tip on my card. Typically I tip in cash, but if the one time I tip on my card that's your response to a paying customer that tells me all I need to know about your business. Based on that interaction alone I hadn't been back to be serviced, but today I actually went in to have my acrylic nails removed. Typically, they are supposed to have you soak your nails and then remove them, but the tech today decided to attempt to remove the acrylic with some type of card. Not only was it hurting my nails, but this is something I could've done on my own at home. When I expressed to her that it was hurting and asked if I could soak my nails the proper way she stated that it "takes a long time".....okay? So damage my nails instead of taking to the time to do it properly? She tried to continue removing my nails but again I told her it was hurting and asked to soak my nails. Finally, she got up with an attitude and got the bowl and other materials for me to soak. At the end of the service I handed her my card and what happens next? She says "you don't have cash?" Why else would any business be begging customers to pay/tip in cash, oh that's right, to avoid having to claim that money lol. That is the last time I'll be patronizing this business. Next time I'll be more than happy to spend my money with a business that cares more about the health of their customers nails and less about how they're getting paid as long as the bills are paid. read more

I went to this place based on the reviews. I live over 30 minutes away and I needed a nail salon I could get a good pedicure at. This place is amazing. It wasn't busy, it's very clean, and the staff is very friendly. I got a spa pedicure and the woman who did my pedicure was amazing! I've been getting pedicures every two weeks while I've been pregnant and I got a pedicure 1 week prior to this pedicure. She was able to really scrape the dead skin off my feet compared to my normal place. My feet actually feel good! She wasn't rushed and kept asking me if it felt okay and that she wasn't hurting me. Let me just start by saying that was the worst experience of my life at a nail salon. The way the guy named leo was treating me was so beyond disrespectful not only did he kept hurting me and stabbing me, he wasn't paying attention to me at all he was just worried about whoever was coming in and out the door. His gel lights kept messing up and not working for some reason and I would tell him that it wasn't working and when he got mad because the light wasn't working and literally started going off on me and said it's because i'm not putting my hand under and shoved the light over my hand smashing my middle finger because he did that he messed up the white part of a french manicure because he did that and has the nerve to blame me again and I finally spoke up and i said well it wasn't me. and then he got mad again and started yelling blaming me and not him or his bootleg faulty equipment. To top it off I'm praying I don't get an infection from the cuts he created while stabbing me i'll attach a picture so you can see the quality I received. When I first went it seemed ok. I got a dip manicure. A few steps and coats that are normally done elsewhere were completely skipped. However they assured me this was a "correct" technique they were following. Well....the next day it chipped. I went back and they literally laughed at me. They wouldn't help me, and all they offered to do was file the nail with the crack in it and put a new top coat on. Fast forward to the next day another nail chipped. I went back 2 of the associates ignored me. One helped me but ridiculed me for not remembering the color number. After this was fixed, 4 more nails chipped. My nails that done elsewhere normally last 3 weeks, were ruined within days. I never went back after seeing how unapologetic they were. This was truly the worst manicure and service I have ever had in getting my nails done. I am writing this so anyone in the future will save their time and their money. This salon is rude and incompetent. Beware!!! read more

I got a refill and gel polish and on every nail the polish is all chipping off...never have I been to any nail salon and two days later every nail has a chip in the polish, normally its about two weeks. I have going here with my husband since they opened. We have never had any issues. The staff is fantastic!! I always get a dip and pedicure. My husband gets a pedicure. He said that this is the best he has had, and we have been to several places. I will it be going anywhere else. I didn't realize that they did a French dip. Got it done. Fantastic!! I go and get my nails done every 2 weeks. This place just opened at the end of my street so thought I would give it a try. The spa pedicure was nice. I was the first one done my spa pedicure and my two family members were done 30 minutes before me. My pedicure lady went to do another customer who she knew from her previous nail salon (who did not have an appointment as you could tell from what she was saying) instead of doing my gel manicure. Instead of having the woman who finished my mom's nails then come do my nails she went and started a person's pedicure who came in well after me - they sent in the owner's daughter after I had been sitting there for 20 minutes who clearly didn't know how to even remove gel polish or file nails. We should not come in as a party of 3 and two are finished at 11:04 and the last one finished at 11:31 without even getting my cuticles done or paraffin wax finish. It seemed like they watered down their nail polish as it took four coats and a top coat to get an opaque normal polish look. All in all three people (plus my mother and sister in law) who came in the door after me left before me. It was a poor way to do business and they now missed out on having three customers every other week for spa pedicures and gel manicures. Hope they change their business practices. read more

My acrylics were taken off with a STUDENT PASSCARD... literally a damn card. I'm not sure why I didn't stop her but I have just had so much going on that I wasn't even thinking about how unsanitary it was plus my nails were ripped so thin that now they're painful and I need my hands for my job. I feel bad saying anything bad about anyone but it really upsets me that I now have nails so thin that it hurts to grab things. If anyone has a suggestion on something I can put in my nails to thicken them up till they grow, it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to put down the salon I'm sure I caught them at a bad time both times I went in so Maybe it's just a fluke but my fingers are not in good shape. I honestly feel that they just wanted me in and out. Texting was more important than making sure I had decently normal thick nails. This was the first time I had my nails done in about 17 years, simply because my real nails grow thick n healthy but it looks like I'm screwed for a long time to grow these back.
