A great small town theater. It recently underwent a full renovation and has fantastic new…read morereclining seats. With the new seats comes reserved seating and online ticket purchasing. The renovation resulted in about 70 seats (about half as many as before). There is a lot of nice leg room and it's easy to get to your seats. I ordered our tickets easily on my phone and received them via email shortly after the transaction. Once we arrived at the theater, I just scanned the email and we were all set. The staff is very helpful with that process as they understand it is completely new. Last night's show was all sold out an hour before, so it's nice to be able to check and see availability before traveling there.

The theatre I grew up with had 20 screens, and it was surrounded by a plaza of food and activities. Gladbrook theater is still the coolest movie theater I've ever been to. Ever. Yeah, I suppose you could say it's because it was novel to me. It was cute and quaint, and the fact that it only shows one movie at a time is funny... but that's not what was so cool. What's cool is that the little town in the middle of corn fields and air decided they wanted a theater, and they did it. It's run by volunteers, and it's probably only frequented by the people who live near the town, but it's awesome. The place was clean, the snacks were cheap, and the movie selection for the night I was in town was perfect. I saw Wreck It Ralph in a little theater on a cold snowy night in Gladbrook, Iowa, with my boyfriend and two other awesome guys, one of whom was wearing a Teemo hat. Pretty great memory, I should think. I do think, in fact. If you live near here and you haven't stopped by, you really should. This place is great and definitely needs to be supported.

Both times that I have tried to see a movie at the Cedar Rapids theater amounted to a bad…read moreexperience. Only lived in Cedar Rapids a short time, never again will I go to that theater. First time I went I was I felt racially discriminated against, I am a white male, the line was long at the concession stand, I was next in line after waiting my turn, an African American girl opened the next register over on the other side of the candy bins, she looked directly past me and point out an African American couple and stated to them that they were next, the couple were 4 people behind me, yet a whites were even behind them, wow, yes, I was discriminated against because I was white, I advised the manager, he seemed intimidated by the topic, I guess whites do not get racially discriminated against (BS). I was next in line, I should have been called over, as I waited my turn. Nope. The second time, yesterday, another customer was on his cell phone constantly, having a bright cell phone screen light facing the audience was too distracting, I left I told the manager, no refund, no checking the show area, just nothing, a manager that can not manage. No more. Not returning. There is another theater in Cedar Rapids, by cash will go there.

The theater itself isn't having the money put into it that it should. I was in the mega screen and the speaker constantly crackled. The seats are grimy looking and feeling, they need a good cleaning. This small town, local movie theater is a gem. It's not a modern multi screen, but it brings recent…read morereleases and, with the pandemic disruption, older releases to our local audience. While it is an old theater, it has been well maintained. The lobby is clean, bright and features a concession stand with expected treats of candy, popcorn and soft drinks. Seats in the theater are traditional theater seats, not what you'd find in a new building. But they are comfortable enough and in good repair. Admission prices are great! Since the theater is a non-profit operation with concessions run by volunteers, prices are low for admission and reasonable for concessions. Example, tickets for seniors are $3.00 and have been for years. Even with an increase, admission is a bargain! Movies change weekly on Friday, petty standard in the industry. Hours have been cut back following the pandemic closing. Currently show times are Friday evening, Saturday matinee and evening, Sunday matinee and late afternoon. Live in Manchester or the area?
