Both times that I have tried to see a movie at the Cedar Rapids theater amounted to a bad experience. Only lived in Cedar Rapids a short time, never again will I go to that theater. First time I went I was I felt racially discriminated against, I am a white male, the line was long at the concession stand, I was next in line after waiting my turn, an African American girl opened the next register over on the other side of the candy bins, she looked directly past me and point out an African American couple and stated to them that they were next, the couple were 4 people behind me, yet a whites were even behind them, wow, yes, I was discriminated against because I was white, I advised the manager, he seemed intimidated by the topic, I guess whites do not get racially discriminated against (BS). I was next in line, I should have been called over, as I waited my turn. Nope. The second time, yesterday, another customer was on his cell phone constantly, having a bright cell phone screen light facing the audience was too distracting, I left I told the manager, no refund, no checking the show area, just nothing, a manager that can not manage. No more. Not returning. There is another theater in Cedar Rapids, by cash will go there. read more

The employee at the ticket booth was rude. The concussion stand employees were too busy socializing, then when ordering popcorn the employee was very rude. The staff needs to at least fake manners and smiles instead of a customer feeling as I am bothering them. read more

All movies are $5 on Tuesdays! If you sign up to be a rewards member, there's major discounts on the popcorn bucket on Tuesdays. On Tuesdays you can also get a $1 bag of popcorn. I love the comfortable reclining seats. The theater has been playing a lot if Indian movies in various languages lately and I love it! The restaurant also has some good eats. I got the Impossible Smash burger today, it comes with lots of fries and ketchup. It was made fresh to order and tasted pretty good for $14! They also have impossible nuggets which also come with fries. The only thing I don't like is that a 1 L bottle of water costs $5, that's the most expensive water in all of Cedar Rapids. read more

I have been to this theater many times. Most recently during the pandemic and the isolation that is needed at businesses. I think this business is doing a fantastic job keeping people safe and healthy. They have several seats blocked off and encourage people to order food online so that they're not waiting in line at the theater. About the theater, there's multiple movies to choose from. The seating is very comfortable and always clean. My son ordered a hamburger and fries and he said both were very good. Next time we may order a pizza. I am a Marcus member and I got a medium coke, small popcorn and a 5.3 oz bag of M&Ms for only $5. I really enjoy the bar that they have just in the entryway that you could sit and wait for friends or enjoy a drink and conversation after a movie. Went to take the kids to the new Wicked movie today. Wasted 1& 1/2 hours watching the projector break, rebooted, and break again. Didn't see the movie, wasted time, and wasted money. They gave us pass for another movie but couldn't do anything about the popcorn/drinks because we ate half of it. When you have kids begging for popcorn or asking for drinks so you can enjoy the movie it's kind of a need. So the next movie is free but then I still have to waste another $26 on food because they're too cheap to show appreciation to the families who go there. I went to Cedar Rapids Galaxy Cinema with family to see the new Black Widow movie release. We ordered our tickets online and got dream loungers for our seats. We had great seats and it was reasonably priced. When we arrived, the staff was exceptionally nice and helpful! We bought popcorn, pop, and water. What a Great time!! I definitely recommend for everyone to try out this movie theater and get the dream loungers because it was the most comfortable that I have ever been while watching a movie in all of my theater experiences. read more

Looking at old photos, I guess the recent renovations are rather striking. It's basically just been brought into the present to remain your average modern movie theatre. I have mixed feelings about reserved seating, but we adapted to prepay online and haven't had an issue. (Highly recommend doing this well ahead of show time, especially on Tuesday.) We almost exclusively attend on Tuesdays for $5 movies because let's be real - movie theatres are a price gouge otherwise. I can't keep up with specific discount offerings, but I do know there are quite a few if you just snag yourself a free VIP member card. Plenty of screens, plenty of parking. Recent renovations included expanding the concession offerings and an updated arcade area upstairs looks really neat. read more

Staff went above and beyond to address my concerns tonight. No question about it I fully recommend this theater to anyone. Tonight, unfortunately, a bunch of teenagers decided it would be funny to call me homophobic slurs and make inappropriate and violating comments towards my partner and I. We needed up leaving the movie early because it just got to be too uncomfortable and upsetting. We were nervous to call because in the past other business have not been so empathetic. However as soon as we called they were very direct and apologetic. The manger was absolutely wonderful and I feel comfortable coming back because of her and her staff. They were able to take care of the situation and make sure that we knew it wouldn't be tolerated or supported by anyone there. They are so easy to talk to and extremely helpful. If I could give a straight zero I would, the treatment was horrible. I was disrespected and talked to in a belittling way when I handed my ID to go see scream VI and then they refused to take my ID because apparently if you are under 18 you need to be accompanied by a 25 year old, which personally is mind numbing levels of dumb. Very pleased with the renovations! Lounge chairs and reserved seating. People seem to still be getting a hang of that, so I've had to ask people to move out of my seat a few times... the restaurant/bar is not movie theatre prices, so it's actually worth it to go early and have a meal, snack, or a few drinks before your movie. You can bring whatever you haven't finished into the movie with you! Full bar as well, that usually has popular movie themed drink specials. Beer selection is pretty good, and local breweries. Nice and clean and very friendly service at the bar. They accept Movie Pass members so I'm there a lot! So glad they upgraded and are close to me! read more

I LOVE this theater! It was the perfect place to go for a movie date night with the hubby. Since they renovated earlier this year, the place has a cool bar when you first enter, an arcade upstairs (complete with air hockey!), spacious theater aisles, and the most comfortable reclining/heated seats I have ever been in. The only downside to the seats is that some people are bound to fall asleep in them since they are SO comfortable (like the person who sat next to me). We will definitely continue to travel the distance in the future to see new movies - this place is well worth the drive! read more

Wow. What a difference new owners make. Marcus Theatres had taken what used to be a below average cinema and step by step transforming this multiplex into an excellent movie venue. Every theatre now has reclining lounge chairs that make your movie watching comfortable and roomy. With reserved seating, you can choose your seat days ahead of time for no extra charge. Speaking of charges, this first run movie house will break your budget, just like every other first run movie house. Adult evening tickets are $11 and before 6 pm movies are $8.95. Large sodas are $6.50. Rewards card and Movie Pass are highly recommended. Otherwise, hit up Collins Road for a less expensive movie night. read more

I have had three separate incidences now when I have gone to this theater and paid good money to watch a movie. Each time there has been someone that is playing on their phone with the screen on bright right in the middle of the movie you were talking at normal volume right during the good parts. I have said something to me and is for all three times and they act like they could literally care less. Tried the new recliners and they're a winner. So comfortable! Best theatre popcorn in town and if you're hungrier they have nachos, chips, and burgers. They also have wine and beer available if you so desire. I haven't been in this movie theater for several years. But last night on a whim, I went to watch Aladdin. They have certainly made lots of changes since I was last there. Now you buy a ticket, pick your specific seat and are seated in a reclining, cushioned chair to enhance your experience. I found the seating very comfortable (better than the recliner in my house ), so much so I stayed and bought a ticket for the Lion King. The concession prices are staggering but I have never been to a movie theatre that wasn't. Really enjoyed this experience, a great way to unwind. read more

I have not been to a movie in a long time... this theater has definitely changed!! We loved the bar that was located inside and gladly bought a drink to enjoy while watching our movie. It was also great to see the variety of concession foods available... one could literally have a dinner and a movie in one place! Will I go back? Not if I have a choice. Will I recommend it to others? No. I have stopped going to the Wehrenberg theater unless I have no other theater choice. On multiple occasions the film has been blurry. For nearly $20 a couple, just to SEE the movie, I expect quality. On the most recent occassion, we went in expecting it to be blurry. It was. We watched the first 3-4 minutes of the film to be sure we weren't psyching ourselves out and came to the consensus, yes, it was blurry. So, we left. When we asked for our money back there was no issue. She was happy to return it. However, when we explained that this had happened to us before, she said "we can't have someone in every theater to make sure the movie is running properly." Really? At any rate, she sent someone to "fix" the issue, but while we were making our complaint we missed to much of the film to go back. From now on, we go to the Wynnsong theater. We've never had a problem with viewing the film. The movie tickets are cheaper, and the consessions are cheaper. A win, win, win in my book. Overall: Service-meh, neither here nor there, Food-very expensive, $6 for a small popcorn!, Location-Great, Atmosphere-Good, staduim seating, arcade upstairs. read more

The changes to the Theater are wonderful . Seats are preselected which takes a bit of planning but the benefit of choosing and reserving exactly where you'd like to sit outweigh the hassle. The ticket counter is automated with several kiosks. There were little to no wait during our visit. There is a full bar with top shelf liquor, offering daily drink specials and, of course, you can take your drinks into the theater! The reclining seats make the movie experience relaxing and comfortable so it contends with any home theater. The one problem I will face is staying awake for the movie! read more

The food in the theater is pretty good. But this place is a bit expensive. I've had 2 experiences when the picture was not centered on the screen so we could only see half the picture. The newly renovated Marcus theatre is a big improvement over galaxy 16 cinemas more retro look and feel. The reclining seats are comfortable, and being able to reserve your seat is a nice welcoming change. The game room upstairs has less to do, and the air hockey tables could use an upgrade. I've never had an issue with concessions, and being able to refill your soda without charge is nice. Food and drink are incredibly expensive, but that's to be expected. Overall very good place to watch the new blockbuster films. read more

Bought online tickets. Always had to scan my ticket at the counter before except yesterday and was treated like a idiot because I didn't know, apparently if I just know my seat I can just go on in. (I'll come back to this point) One concession stand line open. Grumpy and unhelpful gentlemen waiting on us. Dirty sticky and just not up kept soda area. Bathrooms were gross. Their was even a huge spider web in the upper corner above the urinal outside of theater 13. Someone was in our seats when we arrived as well. I honestly don't know if they even had tickets because they just moved over one seat, but again no one was taking tickets? I'm not saying I won't ever be back, but I'm not optimistic as to how soon it will be if ever. read more

Quality at the Galaxy 16 Cine can be hit or miss sometimes. I've been to more movies there that had problems then movies that did not. Sometimes part of the screen has been cut off (no heads made the Incredibles anything but) and often times the movie has been playing too quickly (causing actor voices to be too high and the movie to get done early.). Concessions workers also tend to be less friendly than those found at other theaters in town. There is a large coin-operated arcade/games area upstairs (a decent way to waste time with a bunch of kids if your movie doesn't start for a while). Also, foods like hamburgers, pizza and hot dogs can be bought at a special section of the concessions (although at usual, very high concessions prices). For big, flashy stadium seating I still make the drive to the Carmike Wynnsong theater and only go to the Wehrenberg Galaxy 16 Cine if I have to. I'm glad to see a 2nd large, flashy new theater in town, so I hope they can work out their bugs (and get those workers happy!) as soon as possible. read more

Though the seats are more comfortable I have to save the quality of the theater has really gone down. My husband and I have been here several times in the last few months and each time I have been grossed out by the cleanliness. Theaters are not being cleaned after the movies (we've had to brush popcorn off our seats and move empty containers), popcorn is everywhere (floor and counters) things are not being restocked and when we have asked for napkins or straws they take a while to get them. We have always loved coming here but with for the price I am not impressed. read more
