Haven't been to TCR since I was a kid. Then my boyfriend and I went to Elf last night and it. Was. Amazing. My personal favorite was Santa, but EVERYONE - including Buddy the Elf and all the kids (elves) were just awesome. We can't wait to go to another show there. Happy to have this entertainment in CR!

Comfy and known to invite talent in the area, I'm no easy critic but I felt at ease coming here for a friends concert, it was amazing!!

Every play the Theater puts on is totally outstanding. I have yet to be disappointed. Five Star entertainment.

I've never been disappointed in a show here! Always a nice night out. Good (and cheap) snacks too!

It is excellent to see a community theater such as TCR not only come back, but thrive after the devastating flood.

I had no idea what to expect from either the comedian or the theater so that was fun. The theater is larger than I expected and the seating is living room furniture... couches and chairs arranged in rows with aisles. They come around and take drink/food orders before the show and when available, they take payment in the same way during intermission. The owner and staff are quite friendly and it had a welcoming feel to it. There is also a balcony seating area but we didn't check that out. Might next time to see if the seating is any different. The comedian was hilarious, and it was nice to discover a new one to follow. We'll be keeping an eye on this theater now as they seem to have a lot of fun community events scheduled.

This is one of Cedar Rapids/Marion's hidden treasures! I've lived in Cedar Rapids for close to…read moreeight years and had never heard of this place until a friend of mine asked if I wanted to see Little Women with her last weekend. The seating in the theater consists of couches, love seats, big comfy chairs and some table/chair combos making it feel like you're watching the play from your living room. They also have a small concession area in the lobby where you can purchase drinks (non alcoholic, beer and wine) and snacks to enjoy while watching the show. It's community theater so you need to keep in mind that a lot of the actors are still developing their craft and with this performance in particular there were several children, but overall I really enjoyed the performances. One of the coolest things about Giving Tree though is that for every production they put on, the actors decide on a charity and they donate a portion of the proceeds to that charity--hence the name Giving Tree Theater. I will definitely be getting tickets to Peter and the Starcatcher in Feb/March.

She has studied, performed and taught Raqs Sharqi for over twenty years, and continues to develop and grow in this art form by attending workshops and classes in person and online with international instructors. Shari believes that belly dance is accessible to people of all ages and body types. Whether students come to get exercise, meet new friends, practice self-care, or with a desire to improve their technique and perform, Shari is supportive and welcoming. Her classes offer a safe, nonjudgmental space for students to build a strong foundation and to practice belly dance beyond technique. Shari's goal is for students to be mindful, active and connected with their bodies in the ways that feel good to them. Shari teaches in a local studio and is available for special performances from private parties to theatrical stage shows. When she's not teaching or performing Raqs Sharqi she can often be found kicking her heels up in the local salsa or swing dance scenes.
