    A beautiful theater

Alice Cooper rocked the Paramount Theatre last night! The Paramount was opened in 1928 and they don't build theaters like this anymore. With a capacity of approximately 1600 people there isn't a bad seat in the house. The sound was excellent and Alice Cooper at 74 years old rocked to a sold out show. The Paramount is beautiful and it has been preserved to keep the historic look with the updated comforts we expect. If you get a chance to see a performance here don't miss the opportunity!

A beautiful venue with comfy seating. The staff is professional and the drink selection is decent. I love coming here for events .

Went to see the killer queen and the shop was fun and had a good time. Only gave the location a 1 star because the lines for refreshments was not that long and the sears were comfortable and the building had some history to it. But it wa a 75 degree day and there seemed to be no air circulation or even AC on. Were we just sitting in our seats, no alcohol, not dancing yet and was dripping with sweat. It interfered with my ability to truly enjoy the show. We were all so hot and the stench from everyone being in a sauna on the balcony was gross. I did make a complaint and missed 2 songs while discussing the temperature in the building. Was kind of funny, the manager Travis comes out to talk to me in a sweater and says to me, oh it's hot up there? Well guess his office was a bit cold the fact he had on a sweater. After hearing the sob story about it being an old building and blah, blah, I just went back to my seat. My point was old building or not, if you know you have a sold out concert and it's 75 degrees outside, then someone should if had the AC turned up the morning of or even the day before the event! Performers were great, building was horrible!

My husband and I flew into Cedar Rapids to see a band we wanted to see, and the show was at the Paramount.

I had no idea what to expect from either the comedian or the theater so that was fun. The theater is larger than I expected and the seating is living room furniture... couches and chairs arranged in rows with aisles. They come around and take drink/food orders before the show and when available, they take payment in the same way during intermission. The owner and staff are quite friendly and it had a welcoming feel to it. There is also a balcony seating area but we didn't check that out. Might next time to see if the seating is any different. The comedian was hilarious, and it was nice to discover a new one to follow. We'll be keeping an eye on this theater now as they seem to have a lot of fun community events scheduled.

This is one of Cedar Rapids/Marion's hidden treasures! I've lived in Cedar Rapids for close to…read moreeight years and had never heard of this place until a friend of mine asked if I wanted to see Little Women with her last weekend. The seating in the theater consists of couches, love seats, big comfy chairs and some table/chair combos making it feel like you're watching the play from your living room. They also have a small concession area in the lobby where you can purchase drinks (non alcoholic, beer and wine) and snacks to enjoy while watching the show. It's community theater so you need to keep in mind that a lot of the actors are still developing their craft and with this performance in particular there were several children, but overall I really enjoyed the performances. One of the coolest things about Giving Tree though is that for every production they put on, the actors decide on a charity and they donate a portion of the proceeds to that charity--hence the name Giving Tree Theater. I will definitely be getting tickets to Peter and the Starcatcher in Feb/March.
