Such a cute community policing idea!
Hayley B.

What a great annual event in North Liberty! I'm so happy they were able move the event to July to avoid rain issues. The weather is perfect, and it's incredibly well organized. No fee to enter, lots of great entertainment, and a ton of local food vendors ranging from BBQ to sweet corn to pie shakes! Bring a chair, snag a beer, and relax! We had a great afternoon listening to blues.

My dad was visiting from out of town and wasn't sure about having meal from a food truck but when I read him the menu, he was happy to give it a try. He got the meatloaf fuzzion sandwich and really enjoyed it. He thought the meat was perfect. We both tried the apple bacon potato salad and liked it- i would definitely have it again. I love how often I see ZZNT out in the community! They have a good selection of food and it tastes delicious, everyone should try them out.

I was in absolute heaven on Saturday when I was lucky enough to get to experience these culinary masterpieces through Yelp. The food is especially delicious yes, but it all starts in an adorable food truck! Their name is creative and cute and if you ask, they'll tell you exactly how they came up with ZZnT! The ladies are kind and funny, with warm welcoming smiles and fun personalities. You cant help but strike up a conversation with them. As someone that doesn't go out to eat all the time, I would also have to say that their pricing is absolutely perfect and fair for the amount of gourmet delicacies that you get to indulge in. $9 for a huge sandwich that tastes like my mom made it? Yes please! ZZnT updates their Facebook regularly so you ALWAYS know where they are. Track them down! Eat the best lunch around! And come right back here to give another 5 star review!!

Am I writing this with the hopes I'll score this shirt:…read more"Local Burrito"?!!! Nah. Not really. Okay, owner, if you read this, I just want you to know I dream of owning a local burrito shirt. To be honest, whenever I'm feeling down I think of the brightest spot of my week. It's Saturday morning, when I feel that burrito in my hand, and I take a flavorful bite as salsa drips down my face. Local Burrito is synonymous with happiness in my mind. Try it out, you will not be sorry. Also, here's a pro-tip. You order and pay on the left, then get in line on the right where you tell the peeps what burrito you got. There, you can say if you want salsa/hot sauce, or none. The salsa is SO KILLER though, you have to get it.

The food truck scene in Iowa City is sadly lacking, so I've been excited to see this burrito truck…read moremake appearances at farmer's markets around town. This seems like a town that would really gravitate to a strong food truck culture. Used to live close to Durham, NC, where food truck rodeos were commonplace; there seems to be enough locavores here for a critical mass for food trucks here. Having heard about the recent menu changes and seeing them at the forefront of the pro-food truck movement here, my hopes were high. I tried the breakfast burrito, which has eggs, potatoes, and various locally sourced greens. I opted to add cheese curds for $1 extra, an exciting local option. I was somewhat disappointed with the burrito, because it was heavy on potatoes and light on eggs, greens, and curds. If the ingredient mix were balanced, this could have had much more flavor than it did. The other menu additions, such as Korean fusion and thai peanut tempeh, sound intriguing so I'll update my review once I try those.

I have a few big problems with Gyro Hicks food truck. Firstly, their service was too quick. I…read morebarely had a chance to chat with the charming lady who took my order. My second issue? The portions were TOO BIG! OMG, I barely made it through a third of my meal before I had to give up and put the rest aside for left-overs to eat later. And then, my next problem is the food itself. Tasty, delicious, perfectly prepared, and so good that just SMELLING the aromas on my drive home caused me to gain five pounds. My final complaint? I ordered two gyros, one for me and one for my better half, and nothing else. When I got home, we dug in, only to discover that they had tossed in a free order of (mouthwateringly delectable!!!) french fries. Okay, so kidding aside, the food and the service are wonderful. At $9 each, the price seems a bit high to me, but then again, everything seems expensive to me these days. A quick web-check shows me that nine bucks is about average for the area, and speaking from experience, these Gyros seem above average in quality for the area. My only other (real) complaint? The hours. With labor/wages being what they are these days, I can understand the short hours, but that doesn't mean that I LIKE them. If you want to taste a little bit of culinary heaven, keep your eye on the calendar and the clock. Gyro Hicks is open from 11AM to 1:30PM, and only open on Weds, Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Even so, it is DEFINITELY WORTH IT.
