    Slap & Tickle concert

I love going to the McGrath Amphitheatre to hear bands play. I went yesterday to go to the BBQ Roundup and Beerfest (which was AWESOME!)-- with live music and craft beer, you can't go wrong. Also, a few days ago, I went to the McGrath Amphitheatre to see the band "Slap & Tickle" play. I've also seen the Pork Tornadoes play there. I just love the McGrath Amphitheatre in the summer time! What a great venue for all kinds of events!

McGrath is a great live music/event venue right on the river. If the weather is nice, it is truly a wonderful venue to experience live music. There really is no bad seat in the house if you happen to see a concert that sells tickets to seats versus general admission. Many concerts such as Uptown Friday Nights, culinary events and more take place at McGrath. For General Admission - you can bring a blanket or lawn chairs but check your ticket for more info! Some downsides: No real bathrooms. I wish they built simple toilets instead of trucking in port-o-pottys. Expensive ticket prices that are "rain or shine" - take a chance on a larger act and hope it doesn't rain! Bring a poncho- umbrellas are NoT allowed. Parking and long lines- come early and park on the bridges or downtown and walk. Usually 30 mins before the show = a long entry line. So if you don't want to stand around and wait: arrive early! Overall, Cedar Rapids has a great entertainment venue in a beautiful location. While many complain about prices/parking and the type of acts, everyone needs to keep in mind: if you attend it: they will come. CR is a smaller market and if larger acts can book a gig between the shows in the major cities on an off night - let's all be sure to attend so we can ensure top notch entertainment doesn't by-pass us altogether.

Impressive. Kudos to Cedar Rapids planning committee. Beautiful venue. Seating nicely spaced. Fully staffed. Can't wait for the next event.

They certainly spend a lot of money and I hope it's busy every single day. I know if their was an establishment like this in California it would be super pricy to play and eat. The service was awesome and the gal took great care of us and came back to check on us often. The food was okay. They made really good margaritas and the spicy bloody was the best I have had. My cobb salad would have been amazing if they had better or homemade dressing. It was very thick and had no flavor. We had to taste the fried cheese and it was really good, but very salty. I would have to eat one and then wait 15 minutes to eat another one. It was delicious though. My husband had the meat sundae I think and he liked the dish and the horseradish sauce was good and not too over powering. I love that they offer airline chicken which I am assuming it is "air chilled" which has not been dipped into chlorine or antibiotics!? Overall I would come back and try other foods and drinks in the future!!

They have very good comfort food and a nice selection of adult beverages. I had the bacon mac which I enjoyed. The place was clean and our server was friendly. I love that they have indoor activities like bowling and pickleball with another upstairs bar with indoor and outdoor seating with more activities like corn hole. I think others are overly harsh on their critiques of the establishment. It is not meant for fine dining; it's a place to have fun for a few hours. As a person who grew up in Northern WI in the 80s, I would have loved to have a place like this!

I was going there to see a Smashing Pumpkins cover band and a Foo Fighters cover band. (Our oldest daughter saw her first concert a while back, which was Foo Fighters in Denver, and she really wanted to go to this concert.) Anyway, I didn't know the place was a wedding venue. So, I was expecting the type of place one goes for a concert of cover bands. My first surprise was when I got on the elevator, and the only option was to go up. If I'm getting on an elevator to see a Smashing Pumpkins cover band, I'm expecting that elevator to take me down to a basement with sticky concrete floors. My second surprise was when the elevator opened to reveal a hallway with very nice floors. I'm pretty dense. So, my first thought was "Wow. This hallway is really nice for a hallway that leads to the type of place that would host a concert I would go to." It turned out that the whole venue was beautiful: high ceilings, chandeliers, floors that were probably laminate (but looked like wood floors to me), a bigger main room than I expected, a nice-sized bar area separated from the main room, a balcony with additional seating (and I think it's own bathroom, if I heard my wife and daughter correctly, which I may not have, because there was a concert going on). Also, I guess I was technically a designated driver, because my wife had a whiskey, and I guess it's pretty common for bars to comp sodas and other non-alcoholic drinks for DDs, but I was really surprised that they didn't seem to charge for any of the non-alcoholic drinks that the three of us had, though. Either that, or they were incredibly cheap. I think I had three or four iced teas. My wife had at least one whiskey, and two Cokes. My daughter had a Sprite. Our bill was $11.00 even. So, either everything but the whiskey was free, or my iced teas were free and everything else was incredibly cheap. I thought that was really nice. I would highly recommend The Olympic South Side Theatre to anyone who is looking for a place to host an event.
