As a late adopter of the game, I played my first ever round of golf around 2 years ago as a 24 year old at this course, and I have been absolutely addicted to the ruthlessly challenging, yet infinitely rewarding journey that is golf. While Brown Deer isn't the nicest course I have played during my short career, I still love to play 18 here whenever I get the chance. My wife, father-in-law, and I played here last on the final day of the 2025 season. Can't wait to come back in a few weeks!!!

Good course. Definitely on the short end of things, but…read morestaff is great, and 17/18 greens were in fantastic condition a few weeks back when I played. Pretty easy setup for high level amateurs, but very fair. Make sure you're hitting the greens in the right spots, or your score will tally up. Played pretty well and shot 68 (-3), and left a few out there. If you are someone who averages 285+ off the tee, you'll be hitting wedges into a lot of holes. Par 5's play longer than the card says!

There are chairs in front of the stage, seat walls and terraced lawns for blanket and lawn chair seating. I came to see Tenecious D in late September. I was able to get in and find my assigned seat with no problem. Everything sounded great and looked great. The staff seemed to be helpful. I wish there had been a screen so I could see Jack Black a bit better, but also because I am sure people on the lawn could not really see anything... A couple of reasons I think it is just 'ok' - Bathroom situation. Since it is just portapotties, you'd think that you wouldn't have to stand in forever long lines-- lines that run into other lines and impede the walkway. - 'Food Court' was just hot dogs and hamburgers. While I did see one restaurant (Carlos O Kellys) set up inside, I was shocked there weren't more food trucks or other small businesses. - Holy beer line! I was shocked at how long the beer line was-- college and professional sporting events have shorter lines. - Parking. We lucked out with street parking nearby-- know it is not plentiful and be prepared to both parallel park and walk. Overall, I would come to another show at McGrath! Concert season is May through October so keep any eye out.

Another great time in Amana for Oktoberfest…read more We were here all week but spent the most time in town on Friday. The weather was great. We did quite a bit of shopping at the quaint shops in town, then had lunch under the Oktoberfest tent. The Trotter (smoked pork shank) was excellent! We made our way into Festhall and sat with our friends and was entertained by Barefoot Becky and her band. Saturday brought the rain to Oktoberfest but there were still a lot of people in town. We look forward to our next time here in Amana at a future Oktoberfest.

I loved getting the Amana Wurst Festival pint mug that was made out of silicone and tie-dyed in color; however, I feel like it was way overpriced, as it cost $17 and then I had to pay for the beer inside of it and it was $5 per fill. The Festival was kind of a disappointment with the disorganization of events hosted during the Festival and with the long lines that you had to wait in just to taste a piece of what they were selling. And oh boy if you were in the wrong line, or if you wanted to try more than one item, then you pretty much had to be there all day with the slow-moving lines. It seemed like the whole event could have been planned out better with the landscaping available. I will probably not be making it back to this event.

A delightful celebration of the confluence of all things Coralville and all things America!…read more The parade starts at 10 with the flag dudes, who always seem to be about 10 minutes ahead of everything else. The myriad of floats include everything from political and religious organizations, to most of the news stations in town. Just about everyone throws candy and 2 or 3 toss waters or otter pops - on a hot day, those sugar bombs are worth their weight in whatever precious metal you prefer! A great place to kill a few hours with the kiddos every 4th of July and somewhere you'll most certainly get all the candy you desire!

Food? Yep. Are you college age? Sure, come late. You older? We were there earlier. There is bar service and servers walking around. Full bar lots of choices, not sure about wine though. Are you into beer gardens, this one is a beauty! Plenty to do out there, in the warmer weather that is. Great for groups, if you are into celebrating your birthday with a crowd. Can't wait to see what the next band has to offer. This is a must stop if you are in the area.
