This field is top notch, by the way. :) Moving on is the concession stand and restrooms. Restrooms are small and have 2 stalls, but clean. There are several youth baseball and softball fields. The fields are well kept. Most of the fields have bleachers, however we typically bring our own chairs. Directly behind the baseball/softball fields are the youth soccer and football fields. Bring your own chairs for soccer and football games. Although there is a LARGE parking area, parking can be tight and/or non existent when all of the youth sports are happening. SRNA also has a tennis court, basketball hoops, and sand volleyball. The final building is the Timber Dome Lodge, which deserves it's own review. The Lake Macbride Trail starts here, which is a beautiful 5 mile trail into Lake Macbride State Park. Around the entire complex is a walking or biking trail. There are a couple of ponds used for wildlife conservation. The City of Solon does a great job of maintaining this area!

To see how people years ago travelled around and to learn about these vehicles was so much fun. This place is probably not the best place for small kids especially if you are wanting to read every sign. It is kid friendly however they may get bored with it after the first 5 minutes. This is a must if you are in the area. I highly recommend this place. Plenty of restaurants near by if you are looking for food afterwards.

About every other time I go bowling at this bowling alley, my bowling lane tv screen (which counts points) messes up, but the people working always get it fixed fairly quickly. Good variety of ball sizes to choose from to bowl with. Food selection is good as well. There is a large selection of traditional bowling alley fried foods (fried cheese curds, fried pickles, fried mozzarella cheese sticks, etc...). This bowling alley is adjacent to the sand volleyball courts, which are fun to watch or participate in as well. The Cedar Rapids Sports/Social Club hosts a lot of summer and winter events (including bowling). At this bowling alley, I usually get a pitcher of Big Grove's Arms Race craft beer to drink with friends as we bowl. The atmosphere is classically sophisticated with an air of the 80s. So glad we saw the signs this place was amazing it was just what our 2 year olds need to burn off some energy after 2ish hours in the car with many more to go. It was surprisingly large, has so many different rooms with different themes for the kids to explore. We let the kids play for close to 2 hours than grabbed food at the mall food court and went back on our way.

Some stuff was clean and well functioning, while other stuff was not. I'm not going to comment on the organization since it was mass chaos when we went. My husband's complaints are that some of the simulators didn't work, it was disorganized, and way too many big kids in the 0-5year old play area that did not have younger siblings and were UNSUPERVISED (specifically a group of preteen girls). My biggest complaint was we went on NYE and expected there to be a limited number of guests. We have visited different children's museums in the USA for the past few years and each one required tickets purchased in advance (and they all became sold out). But not this place. It was uncomfortably crowded and during the time of the ball drop, you couldn't move. We couldn't move even if we wanted to go to another area to play. So during the congregation of guests awaiting the balloon drop, my kids wanted to move around and I tried to hype up the balloon drop instead since we were stuck in place. Once the balloons were released and both children and their parents were savages, I realized my kids wouldn't have a chance of getting a balloon, so we moved on to another exhibit to play and spend some energy. Great! No biggie. Except we went to lunch in the food court shortly after and were disappointed to see families with 3 balloons per kid. My kids didn't cry, or make a scene or anything like that. They just didn't understand why they didn't get one. While we have no intention of going back to Iowa anytime soon, I hope they consider changing their policy to limit the number of guests inside the museum at one time, and consider encouraging families to take one balloon per child. We went to another NYE in the evening that had balloons and they helped entertain my children for the 7 hour drive home the next day.

Tucked behind Casey's General Store lives this cute little park…read more It boasts a basketball court, plethora of slides, swings, spring riders, a shelter with a grill and other kiddo climbing thingamajigs. We stopped over, after my son saw it from afar. It has newer equipment, is in a good (semi-secluded) location with plenty of parking. Potter Park is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area with littles!

Triple Play Park is probably one of the best youth ball field complexes in the Iowa City/ Cedar…read moreRapids area. Period. End of story. I played here as a kid and they really have made some great changes to the original four fields since! (I believe these were made around 2020- when the CR Reds baseball/softball organization took over this site.) The infields were completely redone and the back-stops were replaced with a 30' tall netting. There are new dugouts and the concession area was updated. Finally (while I think they should have added stalls) the restrooms are updated and clean. There's a playground area for the kids as well as batting cages. But the most impressive thing about Triple Play Park is the addition of Dinger Plaza. My 10U team played here this past weekend and what a nice field. It rained cats and dogs the night before, but you'd have never known that. These two new fields are geared toward younger teams and I think they're a great size-- home runs are possible for a ten year old which is crazy. (My only qualm is how close the backstop is to home.) There's plenty of parking. It's continently across the street from Casey's and down the street from Edith Lucielle's Bait Shack & Wing Depot. I like playing closer to home but if I need to make the drive to CR-- I hope it's to Triple Play Park!
