The Kernels hadn't really been on our radar as something to do until recently and ever since Matt had been nagging me to go to a game. On our first attempt, we attended a work outing in the mezzanine area that got rained out after the 1st inning. Super disappointing. (Normally if the game is rained out, ticket holders are able to return for the rescheduled game. But they took our tickets when we entered the mezzanine.) This area has a great view from right field and groups can enjoy complimentary food and beverage throughout the game. Luckily, the other day I won a set of tickets from work and it turned out to be a beautiful evening so we were able to enjoy the entire game. The stadium is super clean and comfortable. Walking around the concessions area seems a little crowded but sitting never seems as full. (Typical minor leagues game.) There's plenty of free parking around the stadium, even after the game has started, and getting out isn't an absolute nightmare especially because the crowds clear out as the game goes on. Concession stand pricing is inflated as usual, but they seem to offer specials on a regular basis. Tickets are super affordable. All around it's a great option for cheap, wholesome fun! read more

This place rocks. The Kernels are a single A affiliate of MN Twins. The parking lot is spacious and free. The stadium had a grassy area to sit and reserved seating. The concessions were alright. The place is shaped like a real baseball stadium and not the rectangle shaped CHS field in St Paul. This is literally the only ballpark where they will give you samples of Iowa craft beer on tap. Super friendly and prices are adequate. No outfield seating. Can't wait to return. We came from Twin Cities, MN area about 4 hours away. Upon leaving I snapped the photo, it was fitting as it was memorial weekend. read more

One of the best experiences in Cedar Rapids. Easily in my Top 10 list of fun, inexpensive summer activities in the Eastern Iowa Corridor area (if I had such a list). You can't beat the cheap ticket prices; you can see a live game for less than the cost of a movie ticket--Fireworks on most nights after the game, promotional nights (think Star Wars, Jimmy Buffett, Pokemon, Iowa Hawkeyes, etc.), games with audience participation between innings, and Mr. Shucks, the Kernels mascot, makes for a great photo opportunity Suites are a fun experience, too. Great for groups of friends, coworkers, parties, and more. Suites are air conditioned. There really isn't a bad seat in the stadium. This is quintessential all-ages fun--from ages 2-102. Well maintained facility with plenty of free parking. Highly recommend! read more

Veterans Memorial Stadium is a must-see in the corridor. There is a plethora of FREE parking and a rad tank memorializing the Wars outside the stadium. (My three year old thought it was SO amazing.) And it is really easy to get to! There are a dozen suites available but there is really is not a bad seat in the house! (Just watch out for foul balls.) The showstopper is the scoreboard. As an avid baseball game goer-- from high school, college or MLB-- the LED scoreboard is easy to see and has all the info you want! Concessions are on point. And I honestly thought the selection and pricing of beer was right where it needed to be. The Kernals' promotions are fabulous-- from Twins Tuesday (where fans can get a 2 for 1 tickets) to Thirsty Thursday (when 12 oz. regular draft beer, 20 oz. bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game) or Friday Mug Club (Buy a refillable 16 oz. mug of regular draft beer or soda for just $6 and get $3 refills at the concession stands!) Like said before this place is a jewel, I remember going to Cedar Rapids Reds games when I was little and we needed a new ball park bad! I think they did a great job on this ball park! The only thing that keeps me from going to more games is that the Kernels are the single A team for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and I'm a Cubs and Tigers fan so I usually only go when the play there minor league affiliate teams. read more

My work buddies and I were here to see the Cedar Rapid Kernels, the Twins low A team, which used to be in Beloit, WI. We were on a work trip to Cedar Rapids so we had a perfect opportunity to see Bryan Buxton in action, the number four pick of the Twins last year whom Tom Kelly called the fastest player he has ever seen, which is high praise. I bought myself a Kernels fitted hat and settled down with my Thirsty Thursday $2 Budweiser beer. Good stuff. The scoreboard was huge and seemed like it was in high def. The stands were about half full and kids were having fun all over the place. They had a stand where you could order a burger with lots of toppings or a pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun. I got sauerkraut, jalapenos and banana peppers. My only complaint is that they could have put the pretzel bun on the grill for 30 seconds, it was pretty weak cold. The pulled pork was good though, and the beer flowed a few times. A lot of laughs with buddies and a great time in a Single A ballpark. A lot like a St. Paul Saints game. read more

Dogs served cold. They don't like it when a customer just buys a few tickets and they make you stand outside in the sun even though the stadium is open so that the few season ticket holders go in. Long line. Not super customer friendly for sure. I've had better. read more

This stadium is a jewel for Cedar Rapids and the state. A great place to be on a beautiful summer night. Not a bad seat in the house, you can even see the game from the concession stand. Which you'll want to visit, especially on dollar dog night (Wednesdays) and Thirsty Thursdays ($1.50 beer). The Cedar Rapids Kernels make an entertaining evening at a great value. Honestly, going to a Kernels game may be the best place in C.R. for good entertainment. My family and I LOVE going to the games. The tenderloins are giving me love handles and I have to explain various baseball rules to my wife every single game, but other than that, best time in town. read more
