The assistance they provide in choosing frame and matting is invaluable. The time and care they put into each piece they handle is impeccable. I took three, 100 year old, family heirloom, handmade, baby dresses to Vandorens for framing. The dresses are quite fragile. They invisibly, hand sewed each dress to acid free matte board, being careful to distribute the weight of the dress so not to put any stress on the fibers. The glass is a special UV filtering glass. Besides being preserved, the dresses are lovely and often a conversation piece. If you want professional framing that is nothing short of perfection, you must go to Vandorens.

They had drink specials and even provided a few snacks free of charge. The mule was incredible and the vodka lemonade had a special twist I enjoyed. We'll curated art and artists. Many local artists are featured which is such a refreshing experience after visiting local galleries that one might expect to find local artists but find the majority to be from out of state and less than unique works. Taag, in addition to featuring artists that are well known and with many years of experience, has been a starting point for a number of artists that are now very successful, as current -very talented emerging artists. The classes offered have been patiently and knowledgably taught (as told to me by parents and students involved) and a very generous number of scholarships for students are offered. My daughter received mentorship from the director of Taag when an unexpected delay in her college plans occurred (shoulder surgery delayed her attendance at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design for a year). She is now not only attending MIAD full time, on the Deans list and a member of the National Art Honor Society but an exhibiting Artist at Taag. My daughter looked for other opportunities within the area (we are not from iowa city) and found nothing inclusive for new artists with limited funds and chose to contact Bella Vine- Taag's director, after seeing a news report about other artists that had challenges who were mentored by Bella and who had great success following their involvement with Taag. I speak now, both objectively and subjectively in saying that for both artists (which I am not, but have associations with) and art lovers (which I am) Taag is a very great gallery- inclusive, well curated and comfortable, and an awesome mentoring and educational experience. It is unique to find this, especially this combination, anywhere in this area. Taag is a gallery well worth your time to visit....as well as support if you are so inclined!

Went to the gallery to see a band play and it was an awesome venue for that. It felt intimate, like…read morea private convert. For $10 to see Making Movies from Kansas City was a steal. The band is amazing. They played a mix of rock, classic salsa, covers of 80's musoc and instruments from Panama, Venezuela and Mexico. Their eclectic sounds in a setting filled with various art styles was a perfect mix. Got there early and enjoyed the current displays while I waited for the show to start. There were seats and high tables, with a small bar set up in the back. When the crowd started dancing they moved chairs out of the way to make space but it didn't take away from the show. Overall, it is a gem that creates varied ambiance depending on the event and offers a unique experience every time.

My guests were very impressed with the space and staff. It very comfortably held 50 guests with enough space for bar, DJ, dance floor, food and lots of room to mingle around and look at the art. The artwork at the time was by Chuck Hipsher and went perfectly with the theme of the party. I am looking for any and every reason to go back for another party! It was the best. Thanks guys!
