I think waiting over an hour for tap soda is a little unreasonable. $65 for a pizza, tickets, and small drinks for 3. It used to be a reasonable place to have a family night, but not anymore. Pros: pizza was good, so was the movie.

They didn't have name tags so I don't know their names. The popcorn is good, I do wish they had the orange popcorn seasoning. I also wish it would say if there are free refills or not. It is nice to have people on the hallway to direct people and say where the bathrooms are. They are super nice! It is cold in the theaters even with heated seats so be sure to bring a blanket.

The theatre I grew up with had 20 screens, and it was surrounded by a plaza of food and activities. Gladbrook theater is still the coolest movie theater I've ever been to. Ever. Yeah, I suppose you could say it's because it was novel to me. It was cute and quaint, and the fact that it only shows one movie at a time is funny... but that's not what was so cool. What's cool is that the little town in the middle of corn fields and air decided they wanted a theater, and they did it. It's run by volunteers, and it's probably only frequented by the people who live near the town, but it's awesome. The place was clean, the snacks were cheap, and the movie selection for the night I was in town was perfect. I saw Wreck It Ralph in a little theater on a cold snowy night in Gladbrook, Iowa, with my boyfriend and two other awesome guys, one of whom was wearing a Teemo hat. Pretty great memory, I should think. I do think, in fact. If you live near here and you haven't stopped by, you really should. This place is great and definitely needs to be supported.

I think most of the town was there to see it. It's a small town ..so go figure. With prices like $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for kids...who wouldn't want to go to a movie. I felt like I went back in time....like 70 years. The theatre was a bit dated and old, but it's still pretty clean and neat...minus the smells of cow manure from some old farmers boots. Old wood floors and unique theatre decore. The seats are not the most comfortable. Popcorn is pretty cheap compared to the other Big time movie theatres...and..it tasted pretty good too. So of your ever in the area...go and support this little local movie theatre.

Okay, price point out of the way, now on to the rave. First - this is a real, old, big, one-screen movie theatre from the days when the movies were something special. The facade is a gorgeous example those days, its geometric, restrained 1930s style a joy to behold. Inside, the original light fixtures and fittings remain. The floor is HARDWOOD PLANKS. Modern, comfy seats fit perfectly with the style and ambiance, having been chosen with care. An original dairy wall clock hangs in one of the back exit hallway doors. Popcorn is on offer in front at the snackbar. The place is filled with kids and families. There's even a (very) stern usher, who polices the place for cell phones and contraband! The show starts every night at 7:00pm (a sign hanging by the box office window tells you when the show will let out) and my family confirms it is always packed. Gotta confess I got a bit of a lump in my throat, seeing all those people gathered downtown, hanging out and seeing the show together, having a bit of a real, old-time American home town experience. This small town, local movie theater is a gem. It's not a modern multi screen, but it brings recent…read morereleases and, with the pandemic disruption, older releases to our local audience. While it is an old theater, it has been well maintained. The lobby is clean, bright and features a concession stand with expected treats of candy, popcorn and soft drinks. Seats in the theater are traditional theater seats, not what you'd find in a new building. But they are comfortable enough and in good repair. Admission prices are great! Since the theater is a non-profit operation with concessions run by volunteers, prices are low for admission and reasonable for concessions. Example, tickets for seniors are $3.00 and have been for years. Even with an increase, admission is a bargain! Movies change weekly on Friday, petty standard in the industry. Hours have been cut back following the pandemic closing. Currently show times are Friday evening, Saturday matinee and evening, Sunday matinee and late afternoon. Live in Manchester or the area?
