I had heard about Eagles Landing for years because of recommendations from my friends and finally got a chance to try it out for myself--and boy oh boy this place did not disappoint! Walking into this winery was like walking into an old friends house, we were greeted by a friendly staff and (since it was my first time) they gave me a run down on the tastings (and they were FREE, might I add!) They had two menus--one laminated with an in depth description of each wine and a nice little short one sorted by style (dry, sweet, etc) which also had a nice little check box you could mark each time you sampled that type of wine. There were no tokens to hand over or any pretentiousness to contend with here. The thing that stuck me most about this place was the obvious love and passion the staff had for the wine they made--this is more than a paycheck to these folks--and it's evident through their service. After much deliberation, I settled on the Mrs. Sippi (might I also add they have awesome names for their wine?) as my chosen bottle to take back home with me. Also, if you aren't a wine connoisseur, fret not-- the owner mentioned it's all about enjoying the experience, and if you are looking for a great wine tasting experience, I cannot be more esteemed to recommend Eagles Landing! read more

Contrary to some other reviews that we read, we're so happy that we made the stop in here today! We immediately got a wonderful greeting when we walked in the door. The lady behind the bar made us feel right at home and executed some of the best customer service that I've experienced in a long time. And the chef that created our pizza went above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. While we're not fruity wine people, we were recommended a great option to try and we really enjoyed it. The wine slushies were also a really great treat on a warm fall day. My husband and I went on a Thursday shortly after they opened and no other patrons were there. We were greeted by a nice welcoming woman (I can't recall her name). We said we'd like to do a wine tasting. She said we could try all 18 wines. We're from Wisconsin, so we obviously said that's what we wanted to do. She asked if we like dry or sweet and we said typically sweet. She then started going through the list and saying wines we shouldn't try since they were drier. While I can appreciate her trying to save us from some wines we may not like, we enjoy the experience of it. We kept telling her it's okay, we want to try all of them. Finally she started from the drier wines (we did actually like some of them) and went to the sweeter ones. The reason we are giving 2 stars is because we were rushed the entire time we were there. We were getting so irritated. My husband and I like to talk for a minute after our tasting to tell each other what we liked or didn't like it. Again, there was absolutely nobody there. The bartender kept rushing us along. My husband and I would be in the middle of saying something to each other about the wine we just had and she would interrupt us constantly. We went through 18 tastings in 20 minutes. I used to work at a winery and we would have people go through 6 tastings in 15 minutes! We were upset. We took the day off to go winery hopping. It's something we do often. We like going during the week so we can take our time and so it's not so busy. The wine was great! We bought a few bottles. The constant interrupting us and hurrying us through to the next wine was infuriating. We weren't even finished drinking our last sample, and she asked us about the pizza and how good it was. We started to look at the menu and not 30 seconds later, did she ask if we knew what we wanted to order. My husband and I were talking to each other about what we wanted to do and if we wanted to eat lunch there. Again, she kept interrupting us. So then we asked if there's any restaurants or bars around there with a water view. She said nothing was really open. I was a little suprised and then her demeanor changed a bit and she sort of lectured us about how it's a small town and they aren't a city and we can't expect people to be open all the time... we are literally from a small town. We get it, but suprised places weren't open on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. She did recommend a picnic table spot with a view. But before my husband and I could discuss, she was already asking again what we were doing and if we were eating there. Again, nobody was there. I'm not sure what her hurry was. So we said we were going to go look at wine to buy. We're looking at wine and she comes over again and asks if we're going to order a pizza! So we ordered a pizza. She then comes over again while my husband and I are talking about what wines to buy and asks if we've chosen the wines we want. Like idk... have we come up to the counter yet?? I do not understand what the persistence and rushing was all about. I could maybe understand if more people were there, but again NOBODY else was there. We bought our wine. She said there was a charge for credit but not for debit. Excellent so we said we'll do debit. She charged the card, handed us our receipt and said you can't do tips with debit cards. Okay well I guess no tip then. We didn't have cash. I will say the pizza was very good. The gal making the pizza was very friendly. Not to say the bartender wasn't friendly, she absolutely was. But we would absolutely never go back because of the rushing. It was not enjoyable and as you can see by my review, I'm still upset over it a day later. read more

Would NOT recommend this winery- 4 of us wanted a relaxing place to sample some wines. There was only a bar there- no tables, chairs or barstools. The server pushed us from wine to wine so quickly we didn't even get time to enjoy the SIP we were poured. No crackers for palate cleansing. And what little conversation that we had ( no explanation of any of them other than " this one is sweet, this one is dry), she was able to try to rush an answer to her question by saying "it's a yes or no answer". I'm a sweet wine girly and I loved the options here! My personal favorite was campfire hootch but they had a diverse selection and everything I tried was yummy. My mom likes dry wines and she said those were really good too. The service was amazing, our sommelier was very genuine and sociable but was professional and down-to-business when it came to knowledge about the wines. Last Saturday, Feb 1, 2025. The owner acted like we were bothering her when we asked for a wine tasting. 6 ladies walked in after us, got all her smiles and conversations, she asked them where they were from, gave them descriptions of each wine. She came over to us, poured our wine, and walked away. We ordered a pizza as soon as we walked in. But by the time the pizza came out, I wish I had not ordered it because I was not impressed with the service, but it was too late so we sat down to eat our pizza. She asked us if we wanted a glass of wine with our pizza. I asked for a glass of strawberry wine and she said "I don't have a bottle open." She walked away. I had nothing to drink. She walked over to the other ladies and said "would you like some water?" My jaw dropped to the floor. She was just at our table and knew I had nothing to drink! When we were leaving, she said "do you have plans after this?" My friend said "we're going to the casino." The owner said "good luck losing all your money." Who says that??? Without a doubt one of my all-time favorite wineries!! We stop every single time we're in town visiting my sister, and we always have an excellent experience! Big Red used to be my go-to wine, but this last time I tried the Blues Fest and loved it just as much! I prefer sweeter wines, and can find just as much of a mix that I would buy (and usually do) as my boyfriend whom drinks mostly dry red wines. Campfire Hootch is also a great one to try, as most of them are-and they are always willing to explain types and differences, and make suggestions! If you stop on a day that Cindy, one is the owners is working, then there's no doubt that you'll be stopping again next time! She's undeniable service-with-a-smile, and just a joy to speak to! Eagle's Landing is part B&B, part local winery. The location of the B&B is phenomenal. You are wedged between the scenic bluffs and the majestic Mississippi River. You are literally right on the river directly adjacent to the bridge connecting to Prairie Du Chien, WI. It's quiet there are great views right out over the river. The proprietors are a very kind older couple who know the area like the backs of their hands. They were exceptionally helpful in aiding us with local recommendations and ideas. Ms. Halvorson is also an exceptional cook and the breakfasts here are particularly of note. They do a great job of incorporating local ingredients and their products from their winery in to the first meal of the day. You will leave stuffed after each breakfast and enjoy a great conversation with the two charming owners. There is not much privacy here. Our room was immediately adjacent to their living room where the owners and guests would congregate to watch baseball in the evenings. There is an separate cabin for families, however we were not booked there. We also had an odd issue with towels being removed from the cabinets in our bathroom after my wife retrieved an extra one beyond what was set out for us to dry her hair after bathing. The winery is a short walk up the block from the B&B and is really neat. They have their own line of locally produced wines that are marketed under the "Marquette Maid" name, an homage to a local Native American woman who once lived in the location of the winery. We enjoyed sampling the wines and syrups and picked up several to take home. This is great 1-2 punch combo for a weekend away in beautiful NE Iowa. We will be returning in the future. read more

Most spectacular part of Eagle's Landing is the hand-built house using huge exposed beams fitted only with joints and pegs (no nails in the building). The great room is beautiful to look at (3 story ceiling with trusses especially) and the wall of windows faces East. You're rignt on the bank of the Mississippi. On the other side of the house is the Canadian Pacific Railway!!! So, if this is a problem, don't stay here. However, I enjoyed being treated to a by-gone era when trains and their whistles blew by in the night. Other bonuses: Four-course breakfast by a real chef, free bottle of wine, vist to the winery down the street owned by the B & B people, occasional eagles to be sighted on the river, and a reasonable price. Odd side note: We had to crawl through the freight train to get back to the B & B after we had supper at the Casino buffet (very good)! read more

I loved the winery here at Eagles Landing! They have a quota as to how many wines you can sip and taste and that goes up to five. I gloriously drank all 5 samples of my choosing. While everything we tried was excellent we decided to go with a Strawberry Wine which was sweet but overly so like some of the other sweet wines I tried in the North East Iowa area on my trip. The gentleman that ran the wine store was most helpful and very friendly. We also bought a Mr. Sippy wine which was also most excellent. This will be a wonderful place to go back to next time I come to the area to visit! Maybe we will do a bed and breakfast activity next time! read more

Went down a couple weeks ago for live music on the patio. If you go for music, they do not serve food BUT its a free-for-all of carry-ins. One table of guests who'd obviously been there before brought a cooler and unloaded a 5 course picnic. We looked like newbies because everyone else brought food. Noted for next time! I liked some wines and others I didn't but that's what a tasting is for. The free tasting is 5 wines but once you spend some money no one batted an eye when I asked to try others. Sort of an odd location, its in town. No grape fields around or anything like that but it was a cool place to listen to music and sip some wine. Remember your snacks! read more

We were camping at Pikes Peak State Park and decided to check out the local winery and am very glad we did. It is very cute and the woman who was serving us was very friendly and knowledgeable. After trying 10 different wines we ended up buying three bottles of Campfire Hootch. It is soooo yummy. I love wine and I drink alot of it so I should know. It happened to be the last one I tried and it was so good I actually got a little tear in my eye! Maybe I was just drunk by that point but either way its well worth the stop in to Eagles Landing Winery. read more

Quite a surprising find on the west bank of the Mississippi. We tried a number of wines: Summer Blush, made from the local Frontenac Gris, was very good, lovely amber color, hints of apricot, stone fruit, pineapple; Strawberry Fest, made from strawberry juice, tastes exactly as advertised. read more

Hubby and I took my Grandmother to Eagles Landing Winery and had a lovely time sitting outside sipping wine. The winery was very busy (14+ people) and only one person working. The owner (I assume) was not very polite. He did not take the time to explain the wines and what was in them. Had to ask several times for a tasting only to be ignored. Limited to 5 tasting and could not pay extra for more, nor could you buy wine by the glass. The winery had a ton of excellent wines. We did end up buying 4 bottles which were gone within a week. Too bad we live in Texas! They did have a great outside area but would have been nice to only have a glass of wine as we all liked different wines. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Iowa, but only because the wine was good read more
