Thank goodness for Eddie's or we would have been eating at a fast food place in PcD. None of the downtown restaurants were open so we started to head toward our hotel and saw that Eddie's was open. We were promptly seated and our friendly server (we think the only server) greeted us and told us what the happy hour specials were. We ordered a few beers to start. The server did a good job even as the place got more crowded. Our group began with some cheese curds - they were OK. I ordered their reuben and it was very good. Lots of meat and very moist. I would get it again. The pastrami sandwich was less successful since it was a bit overcooked and dry. Another in our group got the fish sandwich which was "fine". Fun little hole in the wall establishment with excellent food. This is one of those places that you drive by and keep saying, "We really need to stop there someday". Food poisoning for days after eating the wings. We both lost about 10 lbs. and were sick for almost a week after the meal. too hot oil=over cooked on outside, raw on the inside. Yuck. Burgers are basic (overpriced) bar food. Nothing really "Irish" about the place. read more

I came here to meet a few of my coworkers around 6:30pm in a Tuesday. There were a bunch of cars parked in the small parking lot, but we still managed to find parking. The place was not busy with only a few handful of tables with people sitting. The interior was not bad and I remember seeing a lot of wood interior. We sat at a booth near the bar which accommodated our group size nicely. The menu had a lot of choices and I was pretty hungry. I ordered a 16oz glass of Guinness ($4.75), the Cheeseburger in Prairie-dise ($8.69), and small Pub Fries ($1.69). It took a little while later before our food came out. The Cheeseburger in Prairie-dise was a half pound burger which didn't appear to be the case but I just looked at it too quick. It was pretty good when I added all of the toppings on the burger including the thousand island dressing. I finished the burger with ease then started on the Pub Fries. Those were in a small basket and was about the right portion to go with a burger. They were steak fries so that was good. Coming from out of town and super excited to visit Eddie's. Walked in to sit at the bar and wasn't even acknowledged. We sat and waited for drinks when the bartender got drinks for everyone that sat down after us. The bartender had a poor attitude and did not make for a great experience. She wouldn't acknowledge anyone when talking to them and had a scowl on her face the whole time. The problem wasn't only with the bartender! While looking around every other server was just standing around. They said they were on a hour wait, so why did the servers have time to be lazy. read more

I was in town for a wedding and pretty much everyone had left for the weekend. My boyfriend and I wandered in here for dinner. The hostess stand said seat yourself and so we did. I originally picked a seat but it was right by the bathrooms so we moved to the bar. Upon sitting at the bar the bartender told us it would be a 45 minute wait for food-we said that'd be fine we had no other plans. I asked if they had the fixings for a Moscow mule and was told they did not but they do have a large selection of beer. We ordered two drinks and we both got the fish fry with potato wedges. The wedges were good and the fish was pretty good too-not as crispy on the outside as I like but not terrible. I'm giving 3 stars because the bartender took our order, dropped our food and gave us the bill-that was it. She was blatantly ignoring us as she was chit chatting with the other people at the bar. She made no effort to talk to us and made the bare minimum effort to speak to us. We probably have no reason to return to this area again but will be sure to not come back here as our experience was not good. I saw some other reviews that the Angus has delicious food and a friendly staff-we'll be sure to check that out if we ever need to come to PDC again. read more

Stopped for a late lunch and was disappointed in the lack of masks on staff and management. Actually asked about masks and even though wearing one around her neck, was told they don't wear them there. You wouldn't know WI has extremely high infection rates. Came in for lunch today. Came around 2, so after the lunch rush. Prices were very reasonable. I ordered the blue cheese bacon burger and it was really good. Service was rather prompt. I'm not sure if the waitress was just trying to get us out of there or just overly friendly but she said have a great weekend like 3 different times. We are new to the Prairie du Chien area and have been to Eddie's a few times. So far I have ordered the cheeseburger in Prairie dise each time and have really enjoyed the sandwich and the atmosphere of this place. One of the things I like about it is that it is a classic Irish pub and it feels like both the local Prairie du Chien comfy place and also the kind of place you'd find in a classic big city. Food was good, but my meal of 8 wings came short one. When questioned, the waitress said they dropped one and would replace it, but then our whole party could hear the cooks say "I can't believe they asked about that stupid chicken wing." Not impressed. Eddie's Irish Pub isn't particularly Irish, but they get high marks for service, reasonable prices, and one of the better steak sandwiches in recent memory. The decor is split between typical Irish ornamentation and sports bar accoutrements, including dartboards and a pool table. The menu is similarly confused, with fish and chips among the sole attempts at Irish cuisine - you won't find shepherd's pie or other authentic favourites listed. Beer list is American macrobrews or local beers with the token Guinness and Smithwicks taps - no Harp, Bass, Fullers, Boddingtons, etc. on tap. The clientele appeared to be a mix of tourists and tradesmen, whose plain white work trucks and vans dominated the lot. Tradespeople usually means good cheap food, and while it wasn't dive-bar-cheap, it was really reasonable. I had a very nicely prepared, medium rare steak sandwich for ten bucks, a side salad for three, and a huge order of potato wedges for another three. Add a few bucks for a pint and I was out of there for twenty bucks, totally stuffed. My server was attentive and prompt, bathroom was nice and clean, place is clearly well kept. All in all, Eddie's is a really decent American sports bar masquerading as an Irish pub. read more

What struck me as Irish about Eddie's Irish Pub? Well, they serve Guinness and the name. Otherwise it seems to be a bar/restaurant with the typical burgers/pizza/apps mix. No Shepard's pie or whatever. They serve several InBev favorites as well as local up and comer Potosi so all is not lost. And they offer a 20oz version for times when a pint just won't do. I've eaten there twice during my travels to the area and both times been pleased. Yesterday, they had a catfish filet sandwich on special that my dining companion thoroughly raved about and I had a Eddie burger which totally hit the spot and was prepared perfectly. It got a little busy and they had one server only, but we still managed not to wait too long but did have to chase down the ordered beverage she'd forgotten. Apart from the name and the Guinness signs there was nothing that struck me as Irish about this place. The interior and exterior decor is good and at least the place has some atmosphere, but the choice of just four entrées was very disappointing. I opted for the fish and chips, but was then somewhat taken aback when the server asked me what kind of potato I wanted with it! When I suggested "chips" she seemed rather confused. While the service was OK, the servers seemed largely disinterested and made you feel like you were being processed through a feeding machine. Sorry, but there is nothing Irish about that! read more

Eddie's Irish Pub. It's a gimmicky sports bar. Food is decent. Onion rings seemed hand battered. Steak fries were similar to oreida brand. I had the pub burger with cheese. They offer american, cheddar, swiss, and pepper jack. Nice to see a couple real cheese options. I had mine topped with bacon, which was nice and crispy but not over done. Onion and pickles. And they were not shy with the onion or pickles. I'm talking 2 full onion slices, like a third of an onion. And 8 pickles. The pickles tasted as though they may have been homemade. One of my kids got the classic burger and fries, which she enjoyed. And my oldest got the TBLT. She really liked that. The service was pretty good considering it was packed and there was only one waitress. I never received my refill. Though she realized it when she brought the check and offered to give me a to go cup. I would have been irritated if not for the fact they were clearly understaffed. Actually, I was irritated, though I couldn't rightfully take it out on her tip as she was genuinely doing the best to serve more than 50, perhaps 60 people, alone. read more

Worst service I've ever received in a bar/restaurant. The hostess didn't acknowledge us as we came in. We sat ourselves at the bar and were never offered a menu or even water. After getting the bartenders attention we asked for him to make us something fruity to drink and were informed that it "wasn't a party bar". We were given a receipt after every drink as if they were hoping it would be our last. The prices were outrageous for a mixed drink and I could've gotten a better burger from Culver's down the street for half the price. And if I'm paying $7 for cheese curds I expect more than what I would get at a food cart at the county fair. read more
