Yummy cheese curds, we already ate 1/3 . Yum
    Vil Ž.

Such a nice friendly place to sit down and warm up. We came in looking for a small local place to have a dinner and a drink on New Years Eve and Fort Mulligans did not disappoint. Had a very sweet and attentive waitress and a special holiday menu that was very good indeed. We had the Cheese curds - light batter , warm , crispy and the marinara sauce was good and a side of ranch hit the spot.. Healthy potion enough for 2 adults that love Wisconsin cheese. Holiday menu- New York strip steak with Bourbon marinade was a special dish for new years, but they should always have it. It was real good and cooked well. Had the Rib Eye (12oz) from regular menu. And it was good enough. An uneven cut of meat so one side more rare than the other, but salted and peppered just the way I like it. Baked Potato is yummy and not too big and comes with all the fixins. The salad simple and basic with standard dressings. Stop by and have a drink and some food, it's great and perfect for a real Prairie Du Chien experience!

Eat where the locals do...a statement to take to heart. The serving staff are knowledgeable about both the food and the beer. Sandwiches came out of the kitchen pretty fast for it being fairly full. Hot and delicious.

My table with bowls, plates and empty drinks that sat for over 15 minutes .

It's not worth the money they want for their food. We waited for over 15 minutes for our waitress to come back after taking our initial order after we received our drinks and dip. The bowls in the picture of the table were sitting there for 10-15 minutes also because we got our cottage cheese before we even got our artichoke dip so that just shows how long we were actually waiting. It's obvious I've received better customer service in Michigan restaurants because this was not it.

Off on a mini vacation with my kids for spring break. Stopped here after a long day of activity and were seated right as we arrived. The restaurant is super homey and rustic feeling. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. We started with the cheese curds which were fantastic. The breading was super light and delicious. Entrees came out within 10/15 minutes of ordering. The kids had burgers and waffle fries and both thought they were excellent. I was stuck between the sweet chili wrap and the salmon BLT. I asked the waitress what she preferred and she recommended the Salmon BLT. I was not disappointed! The salmon was light and flaky, bacon cooked perfectly, and was on a delicious ciabatta roll. It came with a chipotle mayo that really complimented the sandwich. Our waitress was the perfect amount of attentive. We will definitely be back on our next visit to PDC! 10/10!

I was in Prairie Du Chien for the day on business. Everything went very smoothly so I had plenty of time for lunch. A different restaurant was recommended but they serve mostly sandwiches and I was feeling a little more substantial. Ft Mulligans was also recommended and Yelp convinced me. A reviewer raved about the fried cheese curds. These I've never had so it was a must try for me. Along with the cheese curds I ordered a mushroom burger which came with fries. Back up a bit, this is an old building with a lot of character. Brick walls, narrow hardwood floors and stamped tin ceilings with suspended heating and cooling ducts. Yes my kind of place, and a bonus, the staff is just very nice. Back to the food. My cheese curds come out, and they were off the charts delish. A very very generous portion, actually I had to hold back because I knew my burger and fries were close behind. The cheese curds very very seductive, it was like they were calling me.. " Michael. Michael we want you". OMG. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were waffle type fries, also very good. BTW, did I mention that I started my lunch with an order of fried cheese curds? Apparently they are pretty popular in this area of the country, well Wisconsin is known for cheese so it makes sense. I don't think I'll be back in this town in the near future but if u am or I see cheese curds on a menu anywhere I go I'll be ordering them. I suggest you try them too and if your ever in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin you should eat here. You will not be disappointed.

This was so good. We shared the cheese curds. My husband got the salmon blt sandwich and I got the pulled pork with no bun. The waitress was so nice. The cheese curds from here were better than anywhere else that we tried on our week long trip.

    Good food... refused separate tab...

We had 12 people in our group. They sat us at three different tables (which was not a problem). The food was good. Regretfully, at our table, when it was time to pay, they refused to provide us separate checks which caused all kinds of problems. Some were paying with credit card while others were paying cash. We asked why the waitress could not provide tabs accordingly and she stated they were not set up to do so... how funny, they could do separate checks for separate tables but not for separate folks! After much confusion and time trying to divvy up to pay the tab, we paid and left. There is no legitimate reason why a restaurant can't provide separate dining guests with their own tabs... for this, we will not return. There are other places close by to eat good food who provide an individual tab.

None of this deep fried deliciousness entered my mouth! I cannot tell a lie...i inhaled these cheese curds at Ft. Mulligan's Grillpub!

I bookmarked this place as a possible stop on a recent trip to Prairie du Chien and am glad I did. For real, it was great space, wonderful food and super service! My friends and folks I met raved about Pete's Burgers and that's nice, but I had spent a day with the top down exploring the Great River Road, and was tired and sunburned. Sitting down and letting someone take care of me and serve me was exactly what I needed. I started out with an order of the Cheese Curds. Seriously. Y'all, I'm on weight watchers and had no business ordering them. Worth. Every. BITE. I seriously inhaled them. "Shhh...dont tell anyone. This is our little secret," I told my waitress. "I didn't see a thing," she joked as she took away my empty platter. The curds were light and airy, tasting of hand batter and the most cravable things ever. I ordered those curds in a moment of hungry weakness and was wiser with my dinner choices, a Western Pork barbecue sandwich made of roasted pork tenderloin grilled with bacon, cheese and barbecue sauce on a ciabatta bun. I selected a side salad and my body thanked me for the greens that offset my inhalation of grease. In addition to being the keeper of my secret sins, my server was fabulous, checking in on me often as I leisurely enjoyed my meal. I enjoyed the vintage ads from an old phone book of local merchants (2 digit phone numbers, yall) and loved the vintage gas pump transformed into a bubblegum machine. Id go back to Prairie du Chien to eat here. It's a must do!

Service was great. The cheese curds were what brought us in but the fries kept us. Such great fries. Burger was huge and delicious.

Generous portion of snapper on a nice bun with red slaw and small basket of fries. I had the fish and chips. Three pieces of haddock nicely battered with kale slaw and a dill tartar sauce. It's hard to see if the place is clean but I can say the bathrooms were and I didn't notice anything that was dirty. We got seated within a minute. Place was not very crowded being a Sunday night. The hostess greeted us with a smile and felt with our difficulty to choose where to sit. She chose for us because we were just indecisive. A plus, they had a musician playing singing some Irish songs and he had a good voice. I can see this place being loud if it's packed but for the 20 people there, it was not. The restaurant itself was a little warm but whatever, no big deal to me. The most important part of the restaurant is obviously the food. I ordered a Rueben which I know is a basic meal to get but I wanted corned beef but didn't want to pay the corn beef prices. I will admit this was one of the best Rueben's I've ever had. The flavors were awesome, the meat was tender which isn't always easy with corned beef. The fries I thought were pretty damn good. They aren't my usual typical fries I like but they were seasoned well and nice and crispy. The wife got another basic item of the fish and chips. Again, the fish was amazing, the tartar sauce, which I usually do not like, was good. I thought it was some of the best fish I've had in a while and the tartar sauce was definitely homemade. The alcohol, well can't go wrong with any of the beers I chose or my wife chose. I also got a black and tan which I haven't had in about 20 years and it's just like I remember in college with the exception of drinking 4 of them. So why would I give this place 4 states instead of 5? Unfortunately, the waiter was not very good. He was not very personable, didn't seem to smile, didn't seem like he really wanted to be there. I know most of us don't want to be at work, but in this industry, you gotta fake it. I will recommend this place and if we are ever in town again, I'd like to try some of the other food. The atmosphere was a good time, and the decor, especially the Irish flag was good enough for me. I would go there if you're in the area.

The facility is faux-English pub, with a woody vibe and lots of nooks and crannies. Servers are earnest, friendly, and very helpful, albeit not polished or slick. So far I have sampled the "pork wings" (breaded and fried slices of tenderloin - AMAZING!!!); the Reuben (solid, though weirdly served with Thousand Island on the side, not on the sandwich); the platter of red onion rings (crazy delicious, if a tad salty); and the spinach and artichoke dip (very cheesy - mmmm). Friends and family have ordered the Walleye (looked wonderful), the nachos (a little odd and not recommended), the chicken fajita salad (unexpectedly lovely), and the ribeye (a wonderful cut of meat, sadly very overcooked). There are lots of beer choices and more varieties of wine than I expected (they carry Malbec!), well-poured drinks, and the one dessert we tried (my birthday girl caramel sundae) was lush. A word on portions and value: portions are HUGE. You'll probably need a box. Prices are very fair and seem low to this city girl: great value for your money! If you are in the area and want a nice sit down meal in a cozy, friendly spot, this is the place.
