The venue and service were fine, but the food was ineatable. I wanted the whole catfish, but the waitress said it would be raw! She recommended the catfish fillet, which I ordered. It was definitely not a filet. It was in small chunks which were covered in very dark brown coating, hard, and tasteless. I'm not sure it was catfish or even any fish. I did not send it back and demand something eatable because I was with a large family group and did not want to cause a scene. My niece agreed with me about the deplorable dish. It should be taken off the menu or The Barn should hire a cook who is capable of cooking fish. This was a disgrace and the worst meal I have had in a long, long time. I had broiled walleye and my girlfriend had salmon with Hollandaise sauce. In both cases the fish was overdone. Fish should not be chewy. Also, the Hollandaise sauce was disgusting. We probably won't be back, but locals seemed to like it. Other dishes must be better than this was. read more

Wow! Just finishing our prime rib dinner. From the start to Finnish this has been an exceptional dining experience. My husband called prior to us going to make sure they were knowledgeable of gluten free options. He was able to talk directly to the chef who knew exactly what he was talking about!! We were a pretty large group of 10 people with no reservation that had a great dinner at THE BARN. Our waitress, Natalie patiently and efficiently took all our orders and saw to all the details. Lots of cocktails were ordered as well as kids drinks, one of which gots spilled, (sorry for the mess , Natalie). We were surprised to see the variety on the menu thst included pasta and seafood dishes. I had one of the specials, beef tips and seasoned potatoes.. Delicious and a huge quantity. Unbeatable! Great food, cocktails, atmosphere and service. Prices are extremely reasonable.

Food was great. I had the seafood platter with cod, shrimp, scallops, hash browns, and one of the best soup & salad bars I have seen. My wife had the slightly battered walleye dinner. Good portions and was served hot. I like that fact that we we not rushed. Had time to finish the soup and salad and sit a short while before the meal came. If you visit on a weekend, reservations would be recommended. We did not have reservations but there were only the two of us so it only took 10-15 minutes and we were placed at a table in the fireplace pit area and the next time I make reservations I will request the same area. It was quiet and conversation was pleasant and easy for my old ears to hear. Wait staff was pleasant and helpful. Decor is unique and pleasant. Will return for sure. read more

One of us had the Iowa pork chop -huge! And delicious. Two of us had the beef medallions -again delicious. Unfortunately I had the fettuccine alfredo-disappointing because the small amount of noodles (mot fettuccine noodles) was smothered by the amount of sauce. We love their New Years Eve Prime Rib and Beer Battered Shrimp buffet! It's something the entire family looks forward to, and the shrimp is so amazing they cant make it fast enough and almost always run out. My husband and I took a rambling road trip and happened upon this old school Wisconsin supper club. The hostess and waitress could not have been nicer. The food was wonderful. I had a New York strip steak and my husband had the evening special of BBQ ribs. The salad bar had plenty of yummy choices We also ordered their hand battered cheese curds. They came out hot and melty and crispy. Yum! Steak was tender and came with a side of jus. Ribs were flavorful. We left fat and sassy. We were just introduced this restaurant this winter and really enjoy it. It has a lot of character. We love all the food we have tried from steaks to burgers to salmon. We just found out they make pizza too and it is great. A wonderful thin crust and many toppings to choose from. We love the salad bar too. And dont miss the chicken and wild rice soup. read more

The waiters were nice and checked on us a lot.The bathroom stalls had no locks.The paper towel dispenser was broken one of the sinks were broken the cheese curds were ok but the rest was horrible. My burger tasted super dry.The fries were super dry. The ketchup was to sweet and tasted like honey. I do NOT recommend eating here. read more

My family and I went to this restaurant in June. We were seated in a back corner where the place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. And, although our waitress was wonderful, the service was terrible. To top the evening off, one of my sisters turned to find ants crawling all over the table. When we brought this to the attention of the staff nothing was done to rectify the situation. They did not offer to reseat us, try to clean the ants out or even comp some of our bill. The manager was rude and quite unkind. We will never eat there again. If for no other reason than it not seeming healthy. read more
