Charming breakfast stop in Marquette. Nice outdoor seating too. Food very good as was coffee which oddly I find it rare breakfast places have quality coffee! Good friendly service.

    The chili is incredible!

Gormet good with local character. The fish and burgers carry the day. Soups are home made and special.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but you first walk in the cute little gift shop. We took a seat in a booth beside the windows and were greeted immediately. Service was friendly. I ordered the 2 piece fried chicken dinner. It came with mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy over both, green beans and a dinner roll. It was all incredibly tasty. If I ever find myself in the area again, I'd definitely stop by to eat again.

I got the Eggs Benedict with avocado, but it was partially rotten. Yuck. Plus had to saw (with…read moreeffort) the English muffin with a knife to cut it (overcooked or stale). Ambiance is nice. Friendly staff. Prices decent. Very clean. Breakfast served all day. Fast service. Cute little gift shop. Many choices on their menu for meat eaters. But would like to see more vegetarian choices besides salad or eggs (breakfast). I didn't realize their Eggs Benedict had ham -- gag me -- and I am a vegetarian so I asked for a plate to put the ham onto. Server was very nice and offered to remove it in the kitchen but no worries; she took the ham away once I removed it. Server very nice. Would return but would get something safer, like pancakes or a grilled cheese sandwich next time.

The Supper Club Standard: A Night of Steaks and Levity at Jones' Black Angus…read moreOn the sprawling Highway 18 in Prairie du Chien, Jones' Black Angus stands as a stalwart of the Wisconsin supper club tradition--a place where the atmosphere is as thick as the cuts of beef and the hospitality feels like an invitation into a neighbor's dining room. The experience is anchored by a service staff that possesses that rare blend of professional precision and genuine personality. Our waitress, Grace, was the heartbeat of the evening. She navigated the floor with a warmth that felt entirely unscripted, providing a level of care that culminated in a particularly touching gesture: when one member of our party stepped away during the presentation of the dessert tray, Grace made a point of returning later to ensure he received the full, choreographed "view" of the nightly sweets. The culinary journey begins at the salad bar, which is--to put it simply--impeccable. In an era where many establishments have retired this particular ritual, Jones' maintains it with a freshness and variety that honors the tradition. However, the evening's primary entertainment came in the form of a recurring linguistic gag. When the soup of the day arrived--a dish that was, by all sensory accounts, a classic gumbo--Grace insisted with a wink that it was "jambalaya." The ensuing debate became the running joke of the night, a bit of shared levity that only a truly great server can cultivate. But the kitchen is not just about the sides and the stories. The filet was impeccable--perfectly seasoned, expertly seared, and possessing that melt-in-the-mouth quality that justifies the Black Angus name. My sincere compliments to the chef for a masterclass in steakhouse fundamentals. "A great steakhouse is about more than just the meat; it's about the memory of the meal." -- Unknown Jones' Black Angus is a reminder of why the supper club remains a beloved institution. Between the "jambalaya" jests, the meticulously curated salad bar, and a filet that commands respect, it is a destination that delivers both a full heart and a full plate. My son had the meat lovers skillet and it was a generous portion. My Reuben was delicious but I noticed it was sliced deli meat-like. It came with a side salad or soup. I chose the salad, iceberg lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. I asked for blue cheese, which came in a little capped container labeled BC. It was really yellow and kind of gelatin like. I decided to pass on it as I'm used to which blue cheese and didn't want to risk getting sick. The coffee was a fabulous light roast, not at all bitter. I was able to enjoy it black. The prices seemed a bit high for my sandwich. The bill for 2 lunches, coffee and a soda came to roughly $35. I saw they do charge 3% furnishing a credit card so I just left cash on the table. The food was okay but honestly, we could have eaten at Texas Roadhouse (early menu) for about the same price and I would have had leftovers for the next day. Even though the food was okay, we probably won't be back due to the value of the meal.
