Everything here is pretty good. But the Mexican food was just okay (beans and cheese dip tasted canned/powdered), while the tacos were pretty standard. But my partner enjoyed having his coffee and juice here as well as the pizza. Overall we really enjoyed the concept of this place -- the shared community space, the tall ceilings, and the fast and seamless ordering system. You can order at any kiosk/stand, but it's better to grab a table, sit down, and order from the unique link you scan from each table's unique QR code link, and they bring the food to you. It's a model ahead of its time but one that makes it easy to order your food (though I can see the drawbacks like having to order once you get to the building since there are unique QR codes that prevent you from ordering food when you're not there. I honestly would give the food closer to 4 stars, but my partner had such positive experiences at this place that I am giving it 5 stars.

This place is usually pretty busy and family friendly and metro accessible The Service is prompt and attentive.

I'm so glad it popped up on Google because it gave me the push to finally check it out. I ordered a latte (I wish I could remember which one!), and it was absolutely delicious. I've honestly been dreaming about it since last Saturday! The service was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in, which made the experience even better. While I was there, they also had a pop-up shop with local vendors. I walked out with a donut, a pair of earrings, and some oils because everything looked so good. If you're visiting, just make a left when you walk in and head straight to the back to find it. The space is super cute with plenty of room to sit, sip, eat, or even get some work done. I'll definitely be back to try more items.

You can order from different vendors and they deliver it to your table. I opted for a Butterfly Pea Arnold Palmer (iykyk) from Cameo (the coffee spot) and sushi from AKO. The arnold palmer was just what I needed - it added to my calm state and put me in a comfortable mood to lock in for a few hours. They have plenty of coffee/tea options and the service was friendly. This is a good spot if you need a quiet place to work and settle in with a hot or iced caffeinated beverage.

Good: the vegan cupcakes are probably the best around…read more Bad: their prices are high in comparison with GF bakeries basically in any major city, and they have an illegal "No Cash" policy (illegal under DC law. The owner should look up the law because she's way out of compliance: https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/laws/23-187), but charge a 3% fee if you pay by credit card, which you are required to. They basically give you no option to avoid paying a fee. (In response to the owner's response below: They have a sign that says NO CASH, so is a customer supposed to believe they'll accept cash IF the customer has exact change, as the owner says they will? And if they do accept that cash, then they would, in fact, have cash on hand anyway, which undercuts her claim they have no cash on hand...but they don't because they have a sign that says NO CASH. Every other business in the community doesn't blame the city for their own non-compliant policies, as the owner does, and accepts cash in the same circumstances. Plenty of places are happy to take cash and prefer it, and it is required by DC law. I was surprised to see this NO CASH sign after emailing with the owner about it *a year and a half ago.* I walked right out when I saw the sign.) They also now have a self-serve bar which invites the spread of things like norovirus. There are no sneeze guards. They make it hard for me to support them even though I really have been trying to for years.

But, that's very preferential to my palate... the roast they serve from small planes is beautiful. The espresso beans are single origin and they serve a blend for their drip coffee. But the gem of this coffee shop is the baked goods! It is absolutely the most delicious and well made bread I've ever had in a coffee shop. I feel like they should be a bakery that serves coffee on the side. Their mushroom toast is out of this world! Like the best thing I've had in a long time. Their sourdough and multigrain bread is the foundation and the most beautiful one at that. The sauce is magnificent. Their croissant is as close to magic as you can get... I just wish I had come in time to have it warm. Their avocado toast is served with fresh piles of beautiful avocado. But again, the multigrain bread is the star! Their Pain Suisse... magic in a pastry... chocolate and pistachio wrapped in flaky croissant! beautiful and delicate... it's a must get!

Here's what's going for them. 1) Food & Drink: Every pastry they make is worth the money and calories, especially their pain suisse. (It's the best I've ever had.) You can go savory with their quiche or ham and cheese croissant or go sweet with monkey bread, basque cheesecake, and more. To drink, they have a full coffee menu and free water in a jug at the condiment counter. 2) Service: Despite busyness, their staff often are patient, calm, and efficient. 3) Space: It's much larger than their original location with several long tables, small tables, window seats, and more. There's a unisex restroom in the back and a door that connects to their neighbor Politics & Prose. 4) Area: There are many restaurants and shops nearby along the water. Parking can be expensive or hard to find so take the Metro (Southwest Waterfront) or ride Capital Bikeshare.
