Least quality Starbucks in the area. Unfriendly staff- even if you go there everyday they act like they don't know you... so yesterday they get my order wrong and today, their mantra of "if it's not right- we'll make it right" was not followed. I told them my order was wrong yesterday and they didn't want to give me a free drink. I worked as a barista and this is what they are supposed to do if an order was wrong. They condescended me and tried telling me you can only get a free drink if you bring it back in the moment. That doesn't work I didn't try my drink until I was in my way to work. I came in very excited and happy to surprise and bring my family a tray full of Starbucks drinks and was received with a very rude attitude and actions by a blonde lady working and making the drinks this early afternoon.... Customer service is amazing here! I came in today while it was super busy this morning around 6. I tried reloading money onto my card with a $100 bill and mayhem ensued. I ended up having to call the store after I had left on the train to LA to ask to remedy the situation. They found the issue and I was able to make it back to the store 5 minutes before closing and everything is swell! ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS STARBUCKS!!!!!! Went there yesterday and Ruth assisted me and the service was AWESOME! The way the associates there interact with each other is so amazing and I appreciate that being in the service industry myself. I have gone to this Starbucks for 5 years since I moved to Solana Beach from Carmel Valley. I don't go to ANY other Starbucks around here because this Starbucks is like home. The staff here is amazing!!! Every single employee knows my name AND my order!!! If that isn't quality service I don't know what is!!! They are quick and friendly which is key in a fast paced coffee shop. I love coming to this Starbucks because of the staff and every drink they make for me is made with love. I go here almost every single day, sometimes twice a day and I am always greeted by "hey Arianna! How are you today!?" I really love this store. I usually stop in between work and school. I am always greeted by name and there is just a general feeling, while I am here, that the partners really care about creating that " third place." The store is well run; you don't get the sense that the baristas hate their jobs. You actually get the sense that they want to be there. I think this relates to how well they are treated by store management. I would also like to say that there are some truly beautiful people here, both inside and out. You can tell they love one another and that feeling permeates the environment. I hope corporate realizes what great store this is. read more

A larger Starbucks than you'd typically find but I think because of the area, it's needed. It can get REALLY busy which means it's tough to find a parking spot, long waits, long lines and tough to find seating if you're looking to squat for awhile. Because of this very reason, I rarely go here unless i'm picking up a Togo's next door or shopping in one of the stores in the center. Instead, I'll just go a mile up the road and visit the one on the other side of the freeway. Much easier to get in and out of quickly. For me, Starbucks still remains the toughest establishment to review...here I go! I stop here often on my way to practice so I can look like I didn't just work 9-10hrs before I go to inspire the volleyball minds of tomorrow. The staff here is really friendly and they make a darn good cup o' joe. There is a newer employee (don't know his name) but he is professional, friendly, and pretty downright awesome in my book! In the past, this has been an extremely slow location [mainly because of Solana Beach residents that feel it is okay to take 10 minutes to pick out the next 300 calorie bite they might take, as they order their tall skinny whatever] and I usually have to buy tea because it's the fastest delivery item. Recently I have been able to order what I really want, due in some part to the lack of indecisive patrons. Life is good. I don't know who to thank...the Starbucks employees who kill it for me, or the Solana Beach residents who have either found a new fad cooler than Starbucks, or those whom have not been able to muster the courage to get off of the couch after a few of those 300 calorie bites (now sold on a stick). *END ON A GOOD NOTE* read more

Starbucks has gotten pretty good at being 'standardized' across the board, so it takes a lot for a location to stand out for me. I travel a LOT and work from home (ie, in coffee shops)- and this is by far the worst Starbucks I have ever been to. Ever. I've been here 10+ times (when we lived nearby), and not once did the baristas get my order correct. Not only that, but they've been incredibly rude when I have deigned to request my drink be made properly. They also charge you for a splash of soy milk on top of your drip coffee (which no other locations do- they only have ever charged me for soy on an espresso drink - which makes sense since it is basically a whole cup filled with milk). Never once has there even been so much as a 'oops! Sorry we made that incorrectly, we'll remake that for you'. Your request will only be met with disgust. On top of the fact that you're unlikely to get your drink made correctly, be prepared to wait. Basically forever. I have no idea how it takes the baristas at this location so much longer to make your drink than in other Starbucks, but it does. On more than one occasion I have waited over 20 minutes for a drink, when there were only 3-4 drinks ahead of mine in the line. I imagine this has something to do with the fact that the baristas are super chatty with one another - I've overheard totally inappropriate conversations between baristas while they're 'working'. On multiple occasions I've seen the staff drop both cups and blender containers on the floor and then not wash them before making a drink (or toss and give a new, fresh cup). Gross! While the location is good and they have a lot of seating, this doesn't come close to making up for the rude, slow, and incompetent staff. Wifi is usually so slow it is barely usable. Starbucks should be ashamed of this location - seems like it is time for a better manager in here. read more

Not all starbucks are built equal. That said, this one is near the top of the line. Friendly fast service, space to accomodate a line, huge couches and seating arrangements for all types. NEGATIVE stars needed! I've worked for Starbucks in the past, and in management potions and what was experienced was out of line! 6 people on the floor. I stood in line for a couple min to pick up my pre-ordered (earlier in the week) , pre-paid coffee travelers. When I get to the front of the line the gentleman I assume is the Shift Supervisor tells me "Oh, I'm working on it, can you wait like 5 min?" I told him, "I guess", I mean, what choice do I have? I step back and proceed to watch him mop up spilled milk under the Barista feet for the next 5 min. Then he helps expedite the line which is getting longer. After he completes that, he STARTS brewing a carafe of coffee for my travelers. I ended up waiting for 20 min. I arrived late to my work meeting I should have been 10 minutes early for! I worked for Starbucks for many years, even Supervised & its never okay to make the customer wait like this. There are mats on the floor to protect employees from slipping on spilled milk. You should have had one of the other 5 people on the floor expedite the line, you should have been better prepared for my travelers and most of all, you should have been HONEST! If he had simply apologized, explained he was short staffed (if that was the case) offered me a drink while I waited or showed any honesty, I would have still been frustrated, but would have understood and had much more grace. Every single time I enter this Starbucks, I am always warmly greeted by multiple baristas. I love the new look ! its very spacious, i can usually find a seat. I especially like the vibe of their outdoor section. I'm very inconsistent with my coffee drinks and like different things on different days. This usually annoys other Starbucks because I ask alot of questions about what everything taste like, but my last experience here was with a Barista named Liz. She was very patient with me and explained very well what something new on their menu was like. I very much felt welcomed and not a pest. Thats what i'm going for in my Starbucks! I stopped here because I knew it was really close to the freeway I was trying to not fall asleep on.... I was on my way to a job site and was in a huge hurry so instead of my normal extremely complicated iced coffee cocktail..I thought an iced Americano ought to be quick! I walked in and it was weird from the get go..not busy at all, but a lot of employees talking to each other and moving in slow motion. I ordered my drink thinking, it's just espresso and water.. A few minutes go by and nothing is coming out...there are two women waiting ahead of me, one looked like she had been there for quite awhile already and the other was pregnant, looking at the baristas, she was wondering where her other drink was...we both looked at each other, like "what the heck is happening?" I watched as "KT" moved like molasses, sooo slow.....no sense of urgency, chatting with another employee while he wiped the same spot on the counter for five minutes.. seriously, why was she the only one making drinks??? I never, EVER, ask about my order, and when I did, she snapped "it's coming" and then I watched her grab a cup with espresso, add ice and water. When she put the drink 2 inches away from me, with no eye contact, smile, or acknowledgment of my existence, she yelled as if she had no idea it was my drink "ICED AMERICANO!" Um...I'm still standing right here.... Worst starbucks ever. I waited over 10 minutes for the most simple thing when there was no one there. This Starbucks is the closest location to my gym, so I end up there 2-3 times per week and I always place a mobile order. For whatever reason, this location keeps all mobile orders behind the counter and requires that you ask a barista in order to obtain your items. Most mornings, this location is slammed, resulting in very long waits. On my most recent visit, it took 30 minutes before a barista was able to hand me my order, despite my asking for it multiple times. If you're in a hurry and placing a mobile order, I recommend saving yourself the frustration and going somewhere else until they work out a better system at this location. read more

Really - 3.5 stars I love being here, but I just hate Starbucks coffee. I'm sorry!!! I'm always here before work at very early times (5:30am) whenever I have a big midterm/test/final coming up. Super friendly baristas, and even friendlier regulars. I'm a huge coffee snob (thanks to my BF, the ultimate coffee snob) and I hugely dislike Starbucks and any other large chains for their coffee, but I can't help but come back! As this is the closest location from my work, this is where I normally send my mobile order as they don't have a drive thru. I normally send in my order thru the app when I get the the parking lot of the center. And then I'd go into the store. I overheard this lady making my drink complain about how there too many stuff in my drink and she read out loud what I had asked to be put in my drink that's why I knew it was my drink. Then today I ordered a green tea frap, no classic, no whip, coconut milk. I watched her make my drink and saw her put 3 pumps of classic syrup. When my drink was given to me I told the guy that I had asked for unsweetened. He told me it wasn't sweetened & even asked the lady who made it if she put sweetener in it and she told him no. I am now sitting in my office with a green tea frap that is sweet. read more

This is my FAVORITE Starbucks ever. And between Solana Beach, Del Mar and Los Angeles, I've been to many many Starbucks locations. Friendly baristas? Check. Speedy lines? Check. Easy parking? Check. (All of which can be difficult to find at a Starbucks) When I came home on the weekends throughout college and then the year after I graduated when I was studying for LSATs I'd always come here to study, at various days of the week and at various times. Needless to say, I've spent maaaaany hours at this Starbucks....it's a good place to go to get tons of work done! Sometimes it can be a bit more crowded than usual, but I think only once did I have to sit outside because I couldn't find a seat inside. Andddd I LOVE how big it is. Big and spacey, so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the person next to you. Love the huge windows too, they even have shades that still let lots of light in but block the sun from blinding you, which the baristas are nice enough to put down for you before you even have to ask :) read more

This Starbucks is great! They have a great staff. Over the years they've had some really nice people working here. They are very friendly. They almost always get my drink correct (unless there's someone new in training). It does get busy at certain times of the day because of their location but the wait isn't normally long. Most of the time they have enough staff to keep things moving. If there is ever a problem with my drink or food the staff is very accommodating. It's one of the larger Starbucks so there is plenty of seating and it has been remodeled as well. It's in a convinent location, close to shopping, schools, etc. :-) read more
