I work near this Starbucks and I also go to the Equinox that's a little further down Union St. My point is that I am a regular customer here. Too many times they have f@cked up my order (I am over them)... it's usually too hot when I have had it preset to warm. Most of my orders are "favorite" saved and I have been ordering off the app since forever. Too many times I have gotten small size drinks and when I pick them up they feel empty... then I take off the lid and half of the drink is missing... it's over a $6 for a small drink... $6 dollar for half a cup? Anyways, can't speak on their service since I order off the app... I had one of the worst experiences at this location ever. I use to love this Starbucks, but last week I was treated like shit. It started with Antwone. His customer service was very unpleasant, I first ask for bathroom code. I then ordered coffee there after. I was unsure of what to order and he seem irritated. I ask for ice there after and his attitude changed. As I went to pick up order, my ice was forgotten. I then ask the young girl her name, and she said "Why you need know my name" with a ugly attitude. She then turns to the a guy and began to laugh as she made comments. I went back to register to ask for the manager and the young woman's name, which was Fatima. The gentleman she was laughing with, turns out he was the manager, Andrew. When I addressed him, he seem to be unaware of what transpired, even though he laughed right along with her. Overall, this location has the worst customer service I've experienced. This is my neighborhood Starbucks. Today it was my intention to grab a cup of coffee and work on my project. Before I walked down the stairs I knew I should have turned around and grabbed my headphones. Women's intuition. It was a nice walk. Walked in to mediocre customer service. What happened to being cheerful when you greeted a guess. It was giving I don't want to be here vibes. Why not Quit. The service is always bad. My drink is consistently wrong. The only part I have an issue with is the conversation I'm overhearing topics from delinquent credit to family finances. So there's no more professionalism in the workplace. I came to work on my project not to listen to DRAMA. If you decide to visit expect drama bad service and the wrong drink. Whoever is doing the hiring it would be nice is you added some diversity to the workforce. I'm still inside as I wrote this I couldn't live my life without venting online. I think it may be best to take my 8-13 somewhere more inviting. With this review I'm hoping to give an inside look on this Starbucks. I had an extremely unprofessional encounter at this location. Me and my mom walked in and purchased coffee, after that we were informed that they are closing in 4 minutes. I thanked the employee and responded that we will finish our drinks as soon as we can and will be on our way. I have a knee injury and walk on crutches, so taking coffee to go was not an option for me. We were told that we have to leave at exactly 6PM and despite my politely asking to give us just few more minutes to finish our drinks we were repeatedly asked to leave. The requests were made by an employee whose rude attitude grew with every passing minute. I tried reasoning with her that if they would have told us that the cafe closes in few mins, I would not even buy the coffee there since I wanted to sit down. She said I should go to a bench around the corner. Feeling that it's a fair compromise to relieve the tension I agreed and asked her to help and bring my coffee there. She declined and threatened to call the police. She then proceeded calling the police, which I later realized was a total pretense in order to bully me out of the cafe. After another minute she did make a real call to the police, at which point we finished our drinks and were about to leave only to discover that she locked the door. She informed me that she will make us wait for the police. After I told her few times that she has absolutely no right to hold us hostage, she reluctantly opened the door and let us leave. Ohhh I like this Starbucks....fairly big and lots of seating, clean bathrooms and very friendly staff. Came here early Sunday morning since I needed a quick pick-me-up and to use the restroom. "Um, loose tea is when it's not in a tea-bag, you just put some in a pot, loose tea leaves." "We don't sell that here," he said, handing over the paper cup, and ringing up my sale. The pre-made chicken pesto sandwich was tolerable, and the tea, ("Teavana" brand tea-bag), was acceptable, for what it was. I could get on to their wi-fi, so logged onto Comcast instead. That might not be their fault; sometimes my ancient laptop is flaky; I actually was on the wi-fi, signal-strength excellent, but had no internet; not sure why. This Starbucks on Union is so inconsistent. I get that they are one of the busier locations but I have be in busier ones (corner of Sutter and Stockton) and they are way more efficient...and they do not mess up the drink orders. Today was the third time we ordered TWO drinks - label says 1 of 2 - but the 2nd did not come. We let them know and they proceeded to make the 2nd drink. It was not until we were a couple blocks away when I noticed that the 1st drink was made incorrectly...macchiato instead of a caramel latte. Staff is friendly for the most part but when they get busy, service just goes down the tubes. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting the first Starbucks cafe to open in San Francisco (1992). By East Coast standards, that may not be impressive but in California that probably gets you a historic permit of sorts. The building itself is actually old, dating back to 1899 if i'm not mistaken. I encountered this location as I passed by on the north side of Union street, first thinking I had spotted a dimly lit and quaint restaurant. Out front there's a row of trees, their leaves partially obscuring, to charming effect, the monolithic Starbucks Coffee lettering on the upper ledge of the front interior. The entrance felt profound, an open space with beautifully worn wooden tiles leading to the counter. You can't help but look up at the vintage features of the ceiling--opaque lights hanging from an ornate ceiling base and grayish-blue square ceiling tiles with a silky matte finish. Leather seats can be found in the front, with a view of bustling Union street, and in the back, with quick access to restrooms. On the left side of the space, there's a long communal wooden table with seating for up to twelve, just one short of a miracle. Inspired souls work quietly on their school work and resumes, and presumably some are writing their Yelp reviews. The table faces a ribbed textured royal blue wall framed by dark brown wooden panels. Overall, an amazing experience. You know, the iced coffee with Hazelnut favoring wasn't too bad either. read more

This location is incredible - it's so much quieter than the location up the street on Jefferson. It's more relaxed and you don't feel rushed at all. It has indoor and plenty of outdoor seating as well. There's a good amount of parking as well and it's easy to navigate to. Our barista was kind, courteous, and quick. I wanted to like this location, since it's on Union St. and has a sunny and bright outlook. I've been frequenting it this summer, but probably no more. Not that they care... - Don't ask for your free Iced tea, iced coffee, or hot brewed coffee as a refill on your purchased drink if you stay in the store - they simply refuse to honor Starbucks refill policy, which is "free refills to Starbucks Rewards members - regardless of original beverage purchased - if you stay in the store - and pay with your registered card". Further more, they refuse to read it off their own website if offered! - One of the restrooms is closed as "non-working, to be fixed real soon", not sure if that note is a permanent fixture or what, since it's been there three weeks ago as well as today. Another restroom doesn't have any toilet paper in it, nor paper towels, and they didn't bother to stock it up in about an hour and a half that I've been there on Saturday afternoon. - People are smoking in front of this location constantly and there's no escape: they stand around the corner and just by the doors, blowing the smoke in and around. They leave burning cigarette butts on top of mail distribution box while running in, throw used butts on the ground when they are done smoking, etc. Theres is no not-smoking sign displayed on the door that I could see and point it out. My companion has asthma and almost got into an asthma attack before we realized what was going on and rushed out of there. read more

Decently sized Starbucks with limited seating on Union and Laguna. What meets the eye is the well designed interior - wooden walls, dark themed. Toilet is accessible without key/pin, no seating outside. Outlets can be found to your left when you enter the store. Good luck finding seating - the few chairs/sofas are always taken. read more

Today, I finally got around to using my starbucks gift card that I received as a going away present a couple months ago. The reason why, I haven't gotten around to using this card is because Starbucks, depending on the barista, is usually hit or miss (mostly miss, like way way way left of the goal post). So, I went in to this Starbucks location and ordered a venti Caramel Macchiato. Oh bleh... this Macchiato never had a chance of scoring. I do like the ambience here. A bunch of folks are chilling and enjoying their coffee, during mid-Monday morning. But my dilemma is this. I can... (A) Try ordering again next time... hoping to score. At 2pm today I visited this Starbucks after an appointment I had in the area. The customer walking in before me held the door for me and even said I could go ahead of her because she had no idea what she wanted. I got the the register and was greeted with "What do you want to order?".....I said, "Hello with a smile and said how are you" and got no response. We all have a bad day but this is not the service I am accustomed to at my favorite coffee shop. Then the barista makes my Valencia orange drink and instead of shaking it as Starbucks is known for she fills the glass, put a lid on it and in front of me at the serving bar she shakes the glass in front of me without saying a word..... and then just hands it off. Store manager....please instill the Starbucks culture into these two baristas as they haven't a clue why they are here today.
