I need this Starbucks location to do better. The RDU website stated that this location opens at 4:30 am. That was false! We waited for the business to open after seeing that two employees were in the business. Well that didn't happen. We had to ask what time they were opening. One for the employees said maybe 5 am. Ahh maybe? Interesting fact-the employees were eating danishes and making drinks for themselves. I guess that wanted to have a Monday morning freebie. Ordered a muffin - unheated - to go with the hot coffee I purchased elsewhere (not a fan of Starbucks coffee) while at Raleigh Airport. They couldn't just hand me a bagged muffin - I had to wait in the loooonggg line of folks waiting for drinks. I became freindly with the woman in front of me in line who was waiting for her drink, but her flight was called early, so she had to leave without her drink (she'd paid for). Told her I'd bring her the drink if it came up before my muffin. It didn't. I went up to the front of the line just to find that my cold muffin had been waiting there with a bunch of other bags! They must have whispered my name because I was definitely listening for it! I asked for the other woman's drink, and he said it was up next, but by the time he put it together and I did my best OJ Simpson run to my new friend's gate, her plane was gone The gate attendant was gifted a Starbucks macchiat, and I will NEVER go to Starbucks again!!! read more

What can I say, it's a Starbucks! It is run just like any other Starbucks and as with most of them I have visited, standard Starbucks service. The only thing unique about this Starbucks is the fact you have better chances at winning the lottery than you are of getting coffee here, unless you plan on getting to the airport several hours in advance, don't waste your time. There are other coffee options that don't come with a line longer than TSA screening. So, if you're looking for something more, go to a local coffee shop. Cheers! read more

For a semi-busy airport, the line moved pretty quickly, and received my drink within 10-minutes, which is quite fascinating. I have nothing to complain about. My pumpkin latte tasted amazing! Customer service was friendly. I believe there are now two Starbucks within the airport now. read more

Very inefficient with only two people working. Took 30 minutes from when I got in line to getting coffee! For an airport where people are on a time limit this is crazy. On the other hand, I guess they're serving as many people as they can with two people, so they don't give a darn. read more

Stopped here quickly after my flight to grab a bite and beverage while waiting for a shuttle and the staff was extremely friendly. I ordered a lemon cake, bacon gouda breakfast sandwich and one of the mango dragonfruit refreshers. All were very good and prepared a lot faster than I expected, I've been to Starbucks before and I mean this was fast. The employees I dealt with were very polite and even chatted with me as my order was being prepared. The space has a lot of seats and looked fairly clean for being in an airport. read more

Ok. We all know the chain and what to expect; but for me, in this location, this represents what SB could be in terms of customer service. No matter the time of day I've stopped by on my way in/out of RDU, the staff has always been cheerful. That must be hard to do when dealing with a lot of sometimes cranky, tired people trying to get somewhere, or worse, those who've obviously had too much caffeine already and should instead be looking for the warm milk and cookies or the glass of wine. The employees here somehow manage to engage in conversation with everyone. Maybe it has something to do with it being an airport, maybe it's the time of day; I don't know, but this is one of the only SBs that doesn't make me, on a regular basis, sorry I gave any of my money to the corporate machine. I love Starbucks but in general, given the flood of people here in the mornings, I really wish they would add staff to 'surge hours' to enable all morning caffeine seekers. Sometimes with the rush, coffee quality is compromised and I hate when that happens. Getting a replacement is much more time consuming when the correct order would have been easily executed had the staff not been overwhelmed. Many times, this is a one-barista operation and I would like for management to address that and consider adding another employee. read more

They're open at 5 AM, complete with all the stuff you'd want from Starbucks at 5 AM (coffee, bagels, pastries, coffee). You may be awake after going through security, but you will need an extra pick me up at that hour. Really, this is all that matters. At 5 AM, you can smell like coffee or fried chicken (the fried chicken is from Popeye's). If it were 8 AM, this would be tough, as chicken at that hour is welcome with chicken biscuits and all. But at 5 AM, it's all about the coffee. read more

Lines can get long here, but they usually move at a decent pace! The baristas are very friendly. Also, I have been sick and asked for a hot tea. The barista was kind one enough to ask and recommend the "sick" tea which is a mint, honey, lime combination in tea! It was amazing, and I was grateful the barista offered it. read more

As a Starbucks Gold Member I expect to get the same level of service I would receive at any given location. Well I thought wrong. Being in the customer service industry myself, we become accustomed to having certain levels of expectations & when they are not met, you get let down. I had the opportunity to meet a team member with the name of Janki at Terminal 1 RDU. We were not greeted, she never once smiled, and she rolled her eyes after I stated we had a second order. After receiving our order I asked politely if she had a drink tray, she threw across the counter and mumbled something. Asked for the spill stopper (green stick), she puffed and seemed agitated about it. If you dislike your job, get a new one, if your having a personal problem check it at the door. Decent airport location of starbucks and they take your starbucks card if you have one which is nice. Only thing is that they do not accept any free drink coupons you may have on your card, so make sure you have adequate balance to cover your order. I stopped at this Starbucks on my trip west. I have to say the cinnamon chai was satisfying and the time in the cafe was the most pleasant experience I've had in a Starbucks. The line moved quickly for a Friday afternoon in an airport & everyone from the pleasant cashier to the smiling baristas was great. Nguyen was even sweet enough to honor my request to have the cinnamon twist bakery item warmed slightly. The location is easily accessible & very clean. I dnt travel southwest airways that often but Starbucks here is enough of a reason to come through terminal 1 @ RDU. read more
