But life can be so unfair, can't it ? There are few things that are more soothing than waking up to a black cup of well-made coffee. I have a thing for pour over--gesha and rare single-origins. They're not always easy to find at a coffee shop. Passenger has some of the best beans and that's what used here. The staff made me a perfect gesha and a beautiful cappuccino. I'm unsure where the pastries are from, but they all looked delicious & I loved the oatmeal cream pie. The cafe has multiple areas of seating for you to yearn, write, read, study, yap in. I'll be back to park myself in that cozy enclave and enjoy 3-4 cuppas.

This is quite possibly the best coffee shop I've been to, period. And as a coffee lover (and self…read moreproclaimed coffee snob), I have been to a LOT of coffee shops. We ordered 2 cappuccinos with oat milk and a pourover, and everything was ... perfect. The cappuccinos were just the right temperature, the milk was foamed perfectly, and you could actually taste the unique flavor of the coffee beans. The pourover was amazing, and you could tell they took care to brew it properly. We also ordered an earl grey scone and cheddar bread with PB, honey, and banana, and both were delicious. As a bonus, the space is beautiful with plenty of seating, and a parrot that fascinated my toddler. We live about 90 minutes away, but as soon as we left, we started thinking of reasons to go back.

After leaving a recent review at the Father-restaurant Kabinett, it feels appropriate to do so…read morehere. This is a firmly casual atmosphere- part café, part bierhall, part grocery, and most importantly- Curated Wine Shoppe. The ambience- bloody enormous! It was an auto garage! The outdoor patio is also large- standard Bierhall bench seating or stand overlooking the river and 'Free Bridge', as the locals colloquially refer to it. Pagoda to keep the sun off. The café- standard coffee options, and a few pastries. I believe the pastries used to be done in house (a couple had Moroccan flavours), but now, done by the wonderful duet Pie+Tart. The Bierhall- firstly- they stock Ayinger. This is my favourite Braurei in Germany. Nothing pleases me more than to see several brews- especially the Brauweiß. There are about 15 beers from which to choose, most being less common/higher quality German Brews. There are also some American brews by Von Trapp in Vermont- who also focus on German styles. Good prices. Served in the proper Becher glassware- or suck on a bottle. The Grocery- focusing on Australian dry goods and some necessities. This harkens back to the old Silk Mill location- sans the candies. I've bought some higher quality spices here. THE Wine Shoppe. Since this part of the venture opened, it has become my go-to for most of my wine. He stocks wine which you will not see anywhere else. The focus is on Austrian/German, and Australian wines. Cheap to expensive. Walking the horseshoe from left to right, you start in the White Brut/Sekt, to the Grüner, to the Red /Rot Sekt. In the centre are the cheaper wines, and a good amount of Rosé. While I say cheaper, that does not mean inferior by any means. One of our household favourites has become Fritz's Rosé. I will take the time to discuss the Wines mostly- I was introduced to many Weingut here- Moric, George Breuer, Fritz and many others. The selection rotates, but there are some mainstays. Try to find the proprietor- Jason- walk the Shoppe with him and ask questions. I have never once been steered astray. The focus thankfully is the drier side of Wine- Old and New World. You will not be inundated with the same rubbish Napa Valley and PA wines other proprietors carry. This Shoppe is for those who have an Old World palette and feel the necessity to always pay restaurant premiums. Remember, at a restaurant, you are paying for the wine, plus the storage, Som, and service. You can also buy chilled wine. You can also buy wine to consume there (different list due to LCB Legalities).

Bagel House - Everything bagel with a cucumber/dill cream cheese. Plus lox

First the good: The food is good quality. The bagels are fresh and New York style. They have…read moremany speciality cream cheeses. The lox are good quality. Just about anything you order here you are going to enjoy the taste. Now the bad: Because of the above they are very busy and their infrastructure is horrible. First off they share a very small parking lot with three other businesses. A total of about six spots. Good luck with that. Someone is always parking outside the spaces because of this and you can't get out, if you ever got in to begin with. until they come out and move their car. Its nuts. Now add it is a small place and so when it is busy it is very cramped. Now add you can't fix that well if you are ordering to pick up unless you want to limit your order to what they have on their website. You HAVE to order online. They will not answer their phone. It goes into a taped message that says, "We do not answer our phone." (Why publish a number if you don't answer it?) Now add that they don't have all their items on that website menu. One Example of many: I like both Flagals and Beagules. They have them both, but you can't order them, or a sandwich made with one, from the website. Because of all the above it means a person like myself with severe mobility issues can't get in and out to stay on my feet a shorter period. There is the parking hassle, the long line too order, the long wait after the order. On a busy period it can take you 25-30 minutes on your feet to get in and out of this place. They have three chairs that are usually fully occupied. Though when they see the old half crippled guy with the cane standing someone offers a seat. (always appreciated when it happens) Now add the biggie. All of this comes at a premium. It is Manhattan pricing in the New Jersey burgs at the Bagel House. [check the receipt I posted] The bagels are decently priced but their speciality items... wow. The lox there is $48/lb. Now lox can be damn pricey but where I get mine usually it goes for just over $36/lb. That is $12 less a pound then the Bagel House and the place I get it at is just as good as here. The cream cheeses, also very pricey. If you are going to go here limit yourself to the website, order a sandwich - there is still a premium but no where near what they tack on for by-the-pound and be prepared to deal with the parking shuffle and the wait. For me, the food is good but I can't deal with the rest. I admit my bum pins make me a special case but I am not fond of places that make no consideration for their handicapped customers. And this place's infrastructure is badly thought through. I get it as a start up but this place is doing well and been around for awhile. For these prices they need a bigger place, with more parking, and someone to answer the phone.

A lot can improve:…read more 1) if you don't like to wear your cream cheese, do not come here. They will put a cup of cream cheese on your bagels and I'm not kidding. Not the first time ordering from this place. I always ask for light cream cheese and they add an extra cup! It ridiculous 2) coffee always tastes burnt. Why do I come here you ask, because it's close to home, a small biz and I want to support but it's not worth it. 3) does their POS not have a "light on cream cheese option" does it not print onto the kitchens printer? 4) of you really want to come here, pre-order the food and pick up only. Don't bother walking in to order. Small space barely anywhere to stand. Need to always walk through and around people. 5) no tables no chairs ... well, there are two chairs to sit on while waiting. Good luck being the sitter. Again overly crowded. 6) unorganized. I ordered, waiting about 10-15 min when I finally got up and asked where my food was. I was met with an attitude by one of the women saying they are busy that's why. I just asked a question and just as it's your right to be busy, it's my right to inquire about my food that is taking longer than a diner. Poor treatment, attitude, no listening skills.
