    Montauk Sandwich
    Marilyn P.

I read the reviews before visiting and was worried about having a long wait time during lunch hours, but that must mainly apply to the weekend. I visited on a Wednesday afternoon, and although there was a steady stream of people flowing in and out, I didn't have to wait long for them to make my bagel sandwich. It's pretty small on the inside so I can see how packed it could get on a busy weekend. There's a few chairs and one small table to the side so I think most people take their bagels on the go instead of dining in. The sandwich is made on the spot so it takes a few minutes but well worth the wait. The cream cheese options weren't displayed in the fridge by the register when I went, but other reviews showed them in the display. This didn't bother me too much because the menu lists the options, but I would've liked to see what the cream cheeses looked like. I ordered the montauk sandwich with sausage and cheddar jalapeño bagel. I added avocado and scallion cream cheese (although the cashier suggested I don't get cream cheese with the montauk). After taking a few bites, I understood why she suggested not getting cream cheese on the sandwich because the toppings were slipping out every time I took a bite. However, I don't regret my decision to add avocado and scallion cream cheese because the cream cheese was so creamy and delicious; it definitely completed the sandwich for me. So many bagel and cream cheese options it was overwhelming for me because I'm so indecisive-- I wanted to try everything!

Best bagels around. Went during a very busy time. Reason it's only 4 stars because it's very inefficient pick up process. Your order could be sitting there ready and they won't call out your name. And I went up multiple times to check.

The best bagels in NJ are in Phillipsburg. Not gonna debate it - save your energy. I'm already sad I live 40 minutes away - don't need your negativity adding to my despair. #1 the shop is cute. I know that's like not scientific or whatever but too many shoppes have decided good bagelry (absolutely a word) is incompatible with design elements. #2 they are very clearly mixing, rolling, boiling, and baking the bagels right in shop. Nothing shipped in, nothing frozen, nothing stale. You can see folks working as you wait. I didn't take pics because that's weird and invasive. #3 the actual process is so smooth. We got 2 hot bagel sandies and a snack bagel (one thing about me I'm gonna have a snack on deck). Everything was ready in under 5 minutes. Cheese melted perfectly. Sosig savory and hot. You order and pay at the same time. The young person working the counter was excellent at keeping orders straight and the line moving. It all seems so simple but shoppes in my neck of the woods haven't figured that out yet - which is why I drove to dang near Pennsylvania for bagels. #4 French toast bagels. This is my all time fave bagel. A lot of people don't know this about me but I like things sweet lmao. Theirs has an incredible brown sugar crust that caramelizes once toasted. Sent me to orbit. My fave taste combo is sweet and savory and lord was this it!! #5 rainbow bagels. As your resident queer anytime I see a rainbow bagel I'm buying, though I always find them lacking flavor and dependent upon the fun color scheme to drive the purchase. These rainbow bagels actually tasted great. If this is the base for their plain bagels, then hit me up with a bakers dozen. My only complaint is that they appear to use unsalted butter and I think when you have bread you need the salted butter to break it up and add depth of flavor. That said, this place is outstanding.

Pork roll - a non-"traditional" type. It tasted more like Lebanon bologna

Just about everything is perfect about this bagel shop. Bagels have a wonderful texture and flavor and are a great size. Selection is good. It would be nice if they added power bagels to their selection for when I'm looking for a little fiber and nuts. Orders are always done correctly. The only down side is their pork roll. It tastes more like Lebanon bologna and has black peppercorns in it. I didn't like it at all. Change to a more traditional pork roll like a Taylor Ham and the rating goes to a 5-star.

4.2/5. I like this place. Decent bagels and average bakery. Relatively fast service. However it doesn't help that you need to download an app to place an order for a bagel. Most of the time you can call and and place a simple order ahead of time.

    The Pike Place Specialty Sandwich

Really cool spot with an abundance of options to choose from. I've never seen so many specialty bagel sandwich options to choose from before! I got really excited when I saw all kinds of bagels with different colors and ingredients and so many spreads to choose from as well. Service was prompt but line and paper number system felt a bit disorganized. It was nice inside, but no place to sit and very very hot inside. The bagel sandwich and croissant I got were both incredible!

Pork Roll, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich

I was raised in Hackettstown, NJ and was home for my Dad's funeral. There are certain foods that I always get when I am home and a pork roll, egg, and cheese is a MUST. I went to the Bagel House and was not disappointed. It was delicious. Of course when in Rome (the old saying) I got a dozen bagels with cream cheese. They too were delicious. The salt ones have always been my favorite and they still are after trying theirs. The employees were abundant and very helpful. The wait was longer than expected but I did go at prime time (morning) and all employees were hopping. There was no one standing around so it was fine because of the circumstances of time I went. The menu items were abundant and sounded all so appetizing. This place needs to expand their building in my opinion because it is delicious, a crowd favorite, and has a dedicated following. The parking was challenging as well but worth it for my bagel fix. Great job Bagel House. I got my bagel fix when home because Texas doesn't have bagels like this. Would have loved to take some home and even looked if they could be shipped but unfortunately they couldn't be. I will be back when I go back home in June. Thank you for a great experience!

This is a little small place. Bagels are made on the spot. They have a great selection of bagels and spreads for your bagel.

By far the best bagels in the area. They are big and delicious! The only downfall is sometimes it takes a while to get your order.

But life can be so unfair, can't it ? There are few things that are more soothing than waking up to a black cup of well-made coffee. I have a thing for pour over--gesha and rare single-origins. They're not always easy to find at a coffee shop. Passenger has some of the best beans and that's what used here. The staff made me a perfect gesha and a beautiful cappuccino. I'm unsure where the pastries are from, but they all looked delicious & I loved the oatmeal cream pie. The cafe has multiple areas of seating for you to yearn, write, read, study, yap in. I'll be back to park myself in that cozy enclave and enjoy 3-4 cuppas.

We ordered 2 cappuccinos with oat milk and a pourover, and everything was ... perfect. The cappuccinos were just the right temperature, the milk was foamed perfectly, and you could actually taste the unique flavor of the coffee beans. The pourover was amazing, and you could tell they took care to brew it properly. We also ordered an earl grey scone and cheddar bread with PB, honey, and banana, and both were delicious. As a bonus, the space is beautiful with plenty of seating, and a parrot that fascinated my toddler. We live about 90 minutes away, but as soon as we left, we started thinking of reasons to go back.

This is a firmly casual atmosphere- part café, part bierhall, part grocery, and most importantly- Curated Wine Shoppe. The ambience- bloody enormous! It was an auto garage! The outdoor patio is also large- standard Bierhall bench seating or stand overlooking the river and 'Free Bridge', as the locals colloquially refer to it. Pagoda to keep the sun off. The café- standard coffee options, and a few pastries. I believe the pastries used to be done in house (a couple had Moroccan flavours), but now, done by the wonderful duet Pie+Tart. The Bierhall- firstly- they stock Ayinger. This is my favourite Braurei in Germany. Nothing pleases me more than to see several brews- especially the Brauweiß. There are about 15 beers from which to choose, most being less common/higher quality German Brews. There are also some American brews by Von Trapp in Vermont- who also focus on German styles. Good prices. Served in the proper Becher glassware- or suck on a bottle. The Grocery- focusing on Australian dry goods and some necessities. This harkens back to the old Silk Mill location- sans the candies. I've bought some higher quality spices here. THE Wine Shoppe. Since this part of the venture opened, it has become my go-to for most of my wine. He stocks wine which you will not see anywhere else. The focus is on Austrian/German, and Australian wines. Cheap to expensive. Walking the horseshoe from left to right, you start in the White Brut/Sekt, to the Grüner, to the Red /Rot Sekt. In the centre are the cheaper wines, and a good amount of Rosé. While I say cheaper, that does not mean inferior by any means. One of our household favourites has become Fritz's Rosé. I will take the time to discuss the Wines mostly- I was introduced to many Weingut here- Moric, George Breuer, Fritz and many others. The selection rotates, but there are some mainstays. Try to find the proprietor- Jason- walk the Shoppe with him and ask questions. I have never once been steered astray. The focus thankfully is the drier side of Wine- Old and New World. You will not be inundated with the same rubbish Napa Valley and PA wines other proprietors carry. This Shoppe is for those who have an Old World palette and feel the necessity to always pay restaurant premiums. Remember, at a restaurant, you are paying for the wine, plus the storage, Som, and service. You can also buy chilled wine. You can also buy wine to consume there (different list due to LCB Legalities).
