The Phillipsburg Mall Panera is well run, clean and efficient. The food is fresh and the options plentiful. It's the "Whole Foods" of fast food establishments, and its has the same issues. It operates on a value added model. The premise that the added value, in this case "clean" food (fresh, none/GMO, "healthy"), makes a premium price valid. The thing is that many places are moving in the same direction and at more reasonable prices. I do eat there myself from time to time, but it's proximity, selection and quality would make it more a staple IF there wasn't the something in the area of 15+% premium over other local options for similar fare. So know that if you choose to avail yourself of its eat on location, it's drive up window or delivery your sense of quality will be satisfied, but perhaps your wallet - not so much. read more

I ordered a Mexican corn chowder soup. This soup, as with most of Paneras soups and bowls, comes in a plastic bag. I accept that. But what I don't accept is that the flavor and quality have gone way down. It was somewhat creamy but the thickening seemed to come from the xanthan gum added. The corn flavor could have been better, not old tasting. The highlight was a piece of breF, which is now way to small. The bagette was barely 2" long. On a better note, the black tea was good, however I miss the mango and the Earl Grey teas. My friend also was not happy with his meal either. After this disappointing day it will be a few weeks before I come back again. Not blaming the store people, who are top notch. I am blaming corporate. Went to get a soup to cure my cold. Soup was fine, asked for the croissant twists, gave me cold, rock SOLID crossaint twists.

Saturday was a no-cook day, so we decided to go to Panera. We ordered two Strawberry Poppyseed Chicken salads with bread and one Blueberry Lavender Lemonade. With one pecan Braided dessert. First, the salads and bread were excellent, something we will come back for. And the pecan braided dessert will be a reorder also. So here's the problem: our drink was so heavily infused with lavender that it was not drinkable until we came home and diluted it with water. We loved the concept of combining the two, but would suggest backing off the lavender concentrate as it was too strong and overpowered the blueberry essence. read more

No real update. It's a chain and pretty consistent across the board. Service was a little better this time. She was helpful and made suggestions. The place was spotless because no one was there so I was happy. Got the blueberry scone which was PACKED with blueberries and that was nice BUT I perfect my scones dryer. It's busy travel and shopping time being close to Christmas Holidays. I was on my way back home and stopped in at this Phillipsburg NJ location. Lunch time was over so they were not really busy. Enough parking upon arriving in parking lot. They had few people waiting in car for pickup their orders. I order my favorite Pick Two which have selections of cup of soup and other items. Veggie Mediterranean and soup with bag of chips. Drinks are extra. But you can get pastry for 99cents with it ask for special! My Mediterranean sandwich was really made with right ingredients. Panera as a franchise offers a great selections of dining and bakery options at a decent price point. They can be busy so keep that in mind when stopping in. This specific location pre-covid was a perfect example of Panera at its best, with a clean facility, informed and genial staff, and great service. During and post- covid something changed at this location (perhaps management) and my last two visits were fraught with a confused kitchen, disorganized staff, no visible management, messy and unstocked drinks area, and dirty bathroom unfortunately. So much of a restaurants success or failures hinge on good management. The location of this store is optimal and I hope they are able to resolve their struggles so the location maintains the overall high level of customer satisfaction read more

I love the service. The food is amazing. It is fortunate to get tea, coffee, and other hot beverages on a cold day. Jennifer Clewell, you are an amazing manager. The workers are very helpful. I love the salads and sandwiches. I also like how you have an option for getting chips, apple, or bread as the side. I wish the Chocolate Chip Bagel came back. 25 min for an order why? Because they don't seem to value customers that order more than one item and spend $40. Not sure if all Panera, only seems to happen at this location. I was told they take the small orders first. So basically if you spend more $ you're cast aside and get to watch other orders come in after yours and get prepared before yours. One of the worst locations; I always like extra ranch with my salads. It seems everytime I order this from this cafe they always skimp on the extra ranch I pay for!! I get three small containers. Stopped here for lunch. I ordered a 1/2 Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. My husband ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. My sandwich was good (could have used a bit more dressing), except for the crust. It was tough and chewy, like it had been overheated in a microwave to thaw it (but it wasn't a hot sandwich) , making it hard to bite off. That was minor, though, compared to my soup. I was about halfway through the soup when I felt something in my mouth. It was a piece of foil from an individual butter pat container, folded in half. Assuming the individual containers of butter would be given to consumers, not used in the kitchen, I'm guessing it was left on someone's plate, went through the dishwasher and got stuck on a bowl, and the kitchen help didn't even notice it and just poured the soup in (Ewww!) Makes you wonder about their overall cleanliness. As I was getting up, an employee (manager?) walked by and asked if everything was alright. I showed him what I found and he offered to get me a new bowl (no!--in case there was other trash in the soup pot!) or a refund on the soup. Right off the exit on I-78, a good place to take a break and grab some coffee. The options on this food chain are healthy - salads, soups and sandwiches on the menu. I came here recently with the family. Food was mediocre. Ordered standard fare like cheese flatbread and chicken sandwiches and soup. The flatbread had a strange sauce that my kids hated. Not your typical marinara but something spicy, so not great for children. The chicken sandwich was dry and tasteless. And the soup just tasted off. The order taker was pleasant. I felt the need to rate this Panera because they deserve the recognition for having outstanding customer service from the management to the friendly staff. I do not recall the managers name but there are two and they are female managers that even when I asked to break their policy they held firm but made it clear to me why and being empathetic to my needs. One person in particular who I do not believe is a manager but a remarkable associate named Michelle with the blonde curly hair. Michelle provides warm friendly sincere conversation and has an extreme amount of patience. I was unable to choose from the menu as I am a pescatarian and this means I have limited selections but I am hoping that Panera will bring back their lobster sandwich or provide other choices for individuals like me other than tuna. Aside from that Michelle and the managers attempted to assist me by suggesting their, "Baja, or tuna sandwich" which is pretty delicious and I really appreciate their patience and their time. Michelle reminds you to add a treat your meal and is very helpful with her knowledge of ingredients and her sweet personality. We eat here often because it is close to many of the Easton bike trails - we tend to have lunch before we take an afternoon ride, and then cross the Delaware via the no-toll bridge. This is a better than average Panera with a large clean dining room and always-clean bathrooms. The staff is friendly, quick and attentive, and the food has always been fresh tasting, even the pre-made panini-type sandwiches, which I tend to favor. Unlike some examples of Panera's, the salads have never been given to us with wilted lettuce, another big plus. In better weather, there is a large sunny outdoor dining patio, nicely landscaped.
