In any event I perused the deli area and was very happy to discover an old style deli within my reach. After two local grocery stores with delis' have been gone from this town for several years the only place I thought you could at least get decent deli was Shoprite. Now I have no problem with ShopRite except to say it is always busy and over crowded. Yes you can use the app providing it works and order ahead. Their deli is very well stocked and their products are just fine. But I sometimes long for the days I could just run to the deli and pick up good lunch meats etc and come home where we would make our own sandwiches along with various salads. But walking into Krause's was a delight. Now, I must admit I was reluctant after seeing some of there prices. But I have to admit the value was still there if you looked. I got two jars of various jarred vegetable salads. I thought over priced until I got them home and realized they were stuffed to the top and were two pounds a piece. Personally my opinion is the value was quite worth it. I would rather have a little less of quality than more of something I didn't quite enjoy. Since then I have gone to get some of their specialties homemade soup, perogogies and stuffed cabbage to name a few. Let's not mention the potato pancakes. My mother used to make them with me at her side grating the potatoes and onions with our old grater. We didn't have the equipment then so everything was done by hand. As my knuckles can attest to. It took a long time to grate the potatoes and raw onions with tears running down your face. Then it took my mother a couple of hours frying them over the stove two at a time. It was hot intensive work. But, oh was it worth it. Krause's potato pancakes made me long for the days I spent with my mother.

Mine was divine...even my kid enjoyed the soup and noodles once he was done with his food. Hubs can handle spice but was worried it'd be too spicy but it wasn't and he loved it!! We also ordered the bubble tea - raspberry flavored. Yum! I stole a lot of sips from him And for me/him we ordered a pot of the white oolong tea. They even added more hot water free of charge which was very nice! The tea was fantastic. Almost perfumey and very smooth. My kid enjoyed some of this too, surprisingly enough! The restaurant is decorated beautifully with lots of beautiful Japanese umbrellas - very tasteful. The bathrooms were VERY clean which was nice. To close off the review of our already wonderful experience here was our waitress, Katye (I hope I spelled it coreectly!). I believe she might also be the manager. She was solo on the floor and was composed, and super friendly, warm and legit so so so nice! Turns out our car died (thanks 3 year old who pushed buttons during a change in the car earlier today!!) and tk make matters worse our phones were almost dead. She let us charge our phones and offered to assist after the restaurant closed and offered for us to stay until close if we needed it. Aside from giving us phenomenal service, she is just a gem of a person. So this is a semi personal THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts and I hope she sees this review! Long short is that I can't rave about this place enough. If you're debating trying it out, don't debate - just go eat there because you won't be disappointed! This is a firmly casual atmosphere- part café, part bierhall, part grocery, and most importantly- Curated Wine Shoppe. The ambience- bloody enormous! It was an auto garage! The outdoor patio is also large- standard Bierhall bench seating or stand overlooking the river and 'Free Bridge', as the locals colloquially refer to it. Pagoda to keep the sun off. The café- standard coffee options, and a few pastries. I believe the pastries used to be done in house (a couple had Moroccan flavours), but now, done by the wonderful duet Pie+Tart. The Bierhall- firstly- they stock Ayinger. This is my favourite Braurei in Germany. Nothing pleases me more than to see several brews- especially the Brauweiß. There are about 15 beers from which to choose, most being less common/higher quality German Brews. There are also some American brews by Von Trapp in Vermont- who also focus on German styles. Good prices. Served in the proper Becher glassware- or suck on a bottle. The Grocery- focusing on Australian dry goods and some necessities. This harkens back to the old Silk Mill location- sans the candies. I've bought some higher quality spices here. THE Wine Shoppe. Since this part of the venture opened, it has become my go-to for most of my wine. He stocks wine which you will not see anywhere else. The focus is on Austrian/German, and Australian wines. Cheap to expensive. Walking the horseshoe from left to right, you start in the White Brut/Sekt, to the Grüner, to the Red /Rot Sekt. In the centre are the cheaper wines, and a good amount of Rosé. While I say cheaper, that does not mean inferior by any means. One of our household favourites has become Fritz's Rosé. I will take the time to discuss the Wines mostly- I was introduced to many Weingut here- Moric, George Breuer, Fritz and many others. The selection rotates, but there are some mainstays. Try to find the proprietor- Jason- walk the Shoppe with him and ask questions. I have never once been steered astray. The focus thankfully is the drier side of Wine- Old and New World. You will not be inundated with the same rubbish Napa Valley and PA wines other proprietors carry. This Shoppe is for those who have an Old World palette and feel the necessity to always pay restaurant premiums. Remember, at a restaurant, you are paying for the wine, plus the storage, Som, and service. You can also buy chilled wine. You can also buy wine to consume there (different list due to LCB Legalities).
