Waited 15 minutes for three drinks, and they still got them wrong--twice. Really disappointing experience.

Ambiance: 9.5/10 I…read morereally liked the covered outdoor seating. It was comfortable, inviting, and a great place to sit and enjoy a coffee. The tables were a little rickety, but that's certainly no reason to stay away. I didn't sit inside, so I can't fairly comment on the indoor space. Why 9.5 instead of 10? The rickety tables. I know. I know. It's a nitpick. I'm okay with being honest about it. Service: 10/10 The gentleman who took care of me was genuinely friendly, and the service was prompt and attentive. It was a nice contrast to places where you get the distinct impression the person serving you would rather be anywhere else. Nothing to criticize here. The service was exactly what it should be. Food: 8/10 This is where they lost me a little. I asked about the baked goods and was told they're sourced through a distributor. I understand that this is common practice, and there was nothing inherently wrong with what I had. But "nothing wrong with it" is a pretty low bar for a café. There's a bakery and restaurant directly across the street, and there are excellent local bakeries that deliver fresh products daily. Why resell distributor-sourced baked goods when there's an opportunity to support another local business and serve something that could make the food every bit as memorable as the service and atmosphere? For me, that's the difference between an 8 and a 10. Ambiance: 9.5/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 8/10

Dulce Ice Cream is a true gem tucked into the unassuming Walmart strip mall in North Mt. Pleasant…read more Don't let the location fool you--what this place lacks in flashy signage, it makes up for in flavor, charm, and serious scoop artistry. The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a bright, cheerful space, flowers everywhere and the welcoming smell of fresh waffle cones being made right behind the counter. The staff? Warm, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping you find your new favorite flavor. Whether you're a kid, a grandparent, or somewhere in between, you're treated like a regular. The ice cream. It's next level. Every flavor is creamy, decadent, and clearly crafted with care--no mass-produced shortcuts here. Local favorites like horchata, mango chili, and tres leches sit beside classics like cookies & cream and chocolate fudge brownie. You can taste the difference, and honestly, I'd choose Dulce over any big-name creamery in Charleston. Plus, prices are more than fair for the quality and portion size--great value for families or just an indulgent solo treat. Don't miss.. it's fabulous

If you ever find yourself wanting a good smoothie while in downtown Daniel Island, Beech is the…read moreplace to go. My favorite smoothie there is the Sperry Berry, which has strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, banana, açaí and coconut water. It has a sweet, tart-ish flavor to it. If you're not in the mood for a smoothie, they have a selection of coffees, açaí bowls, toasts and more. I find their avocado toast quite tasty. The service is fast and the employees are always helpful, and while you wait for your order, you can look at a selection of artwork on the wall, all of which are for sale. To sum it all up, Beech is great and you should give it a try!

I've given this place multiple chances, and somehow the experience keeps getting worse…read more The açaí bowls can be pretty good when they actually have everything in stock, but that's about where the positives end. The portions are surprisingly small for what they charge, and they seem to skimp on toppings and ingredients like every spoonful is coming out of somebody's paycheck. Then there's the customer service. Every visit feels like you've interrupted the staff by having the audacity to walk in and order something. There's very little friendliness, very little effort, and an overall vibe of, "We really don't care whether you eat here or not." For a place charging premium prices, you'd expect premium ingredients, generous portions, or at least decent service. Instead, you get a tiny bowl, a big bill, half the ingredients unavailable, and the feeling that you should apologize for bothering them. I kept coming back because I wanted to like the place, and occasionally the food has been genuinely good. But good açaí isn't rare enough to justify overpriced portions and consistently rude, indifferent service. If your business model is "pay a lot, get a little, and please stop bothering us," then congratulations -- you've nailed it. There are too many other places happy to have customers to keep spending money somewhere that acts like customers are an inconvenience.
