Extremely disappointed with my visit today as I stop in 3-4 times a week and love my Starbucks. I ordered an iced coffee, but the half-and-half they used was completely spoiled and sour. I called the store to report it, and while the staff told me to come back for a replacement I was more concerned with the next customer. I was already on the freeway and couldn't turn around. This Starbucks has gone through several design changes in the past few years, but it is, in my opinion, really flourished with this latest iteration. The employees are friendly, the drinks have always been good, and the space is bright and inviting (where before it was more moody and had inconvenient seating options). There is now a lot of seating indoors as well as a large patio outside with plenty of seating as well. There are also additional touches like offering free coffee grounds for customers to take home and a TV screen that shows the status of your order. This cafe feels less like someone is trying to get you out the door immediately and is instead a better place to meet up with a friend. Parking lot is too narrow. Spaces are compact but not labeled as compact. At a normal day it will take 13 to 17 minutes to get your drink. The people making the coffee do a great job. It can be a five star if the lot was better. read more

The vibe is happening Starbucks! Might have something to do with the music and mirth of the staff! Nate warmly greeted me! Went with his recommended Caramel Crunch Frappucino! (But for a moment was tempted to use my Blue Steel look and order a Venti Mocha Valencia Frappucino!) Thankfully the Breakfast wrap was in! So Satisfying w/ Sriracha! But before I could return to work, I was still in need of hydration (given last evening's libation Shhh). Divine intervention interceded. Faye walked in and just had to recommend the "Paradise Drink." Pineapple Refresher Lemonade with Coconut Milk and Strawberry Purée! Not shaken. Not stirred. Blended. Very double O. This used to be my favorite of the area Starbucks, even allowing for the daily 3pm swarming of school kids that monopolized the entire place. But after this most recent remodel (the third one for this location by my count), they took away every single thing that made this location great. You'd think a remodel would aim to improve a place and while it's newer and sleeker, it kind of sucks. The big tables in the back? Gone. The arm chairs in the middle of the main room? Gone. The long bar with stools next to the high-end coffee prep? Gone. (Pretty sure it's no longer a Reserve level shop.) The welcoming and experienced staff? Gone. Half the places to sit and almost all of the tables? Gone. I think this is a high-earning location and they figured, "It's Los Gatos, they'll still buy here no matter what we do." They're really giving "We don't want you to stay here for anything length of time" vibe. For me, they're going to get their wish, I'll go to the other, now superior, locations nearby. read more

Starbucks Reserves are so much better than regular SB cafes. Their coffees come from flavorful and rare single-origin beans, roasted at six specialty Roasteries in Seattle's global HQ, Milano, Shanghai, New York, Tokyo, or Chicago. They sport bar counters called Reserve Bar, where you could sit and experience the theatrical process of mixology by a barista-slash-bartender. Los Gatos is one of 43 global bars and one of several in the SF Bay Area. As a sizzling heat wave with record breaking temperatures arrived to the West, many Starbucks's stores run out of items due to supply shortages. For instance, they didn't have ice cream at Reserve Cupertino, and so I drove to Los Gatos. Hooray, here they've got it, vanilla ice cream! This is the mother of all local Starbucks. The Reserve options make for a better latte and no other Starbucks (that I know of) in this area offers Affogatos. Not even some of the other Reserve Starbucks have this extensive of a menu. While this is my preferred Starbucks. It's not necessarily my preferred place for coffee. Here are my biggest hang-ups: - paying extra for a Reserve latte: why am I paying a premium for them to make a latte the way lattes *should* be made to begin with? - seating: sounds weird to judge them for that, but if I'm going to get a nice latte, my inclination would be to sip and enjoy in a nice ceramic cup. But to do that, it would require a space to place down said-cup. I almost always have a hard time finding an open chair. With that said, the menu, the different coffees and coffee brewing choices, and the overall skills of the baristas here make this worth being my favorite Starbucks in the South Bay. read more

This used to be a pretty ok location. But I had an experience that will keep me from coming back. They were so rude when I came to pick up my mobile order, and I watched them being horrible to every customer who came in after me. They have no cream bar out anymore, and good luck getting them to help you out. If you ask one person, they say a different person has to help you. And this may sound minor, but now you have to order pup cups in line. So after waiting for ages (we're 20 minutes behind ma'am), they asked me to get in line to "order " a pup cup. Oh and no asking for water at the counter either. They can be as late as they want with their orders, but give the customers grace? Nah. Like- all the customers were being honestly nice to them, and they were just jerks. Lame. read more

....and then, this! I go to Starbucks every day. No Starbucks on the Monterey Peninsula can stand up to our experience at this Starbucks Reserve. Walking through the door my immediate impression was I was in a showroom, an interior design showroom. It came with perfectly situated props in the form of well groomed and well dressed persons from the neighborhood. The baristas were exceptionally energized. This crew loves their job. If they don't they are very good actors. This was not a normal experience. An 'L' shaped bar, high ceilings, giant wall menu, spacious with fancy lighting. I liked it. I love coming here when it's time to use my free rewards because they offer things that regular Starbucks don't have including the Siphon experience and their cold brew malt (our favorite). It was here that I first found Yatzbatz, some sorta coffee beans Starbucks managed to source from Guatemala. Although I like it slightly less than Kona, it is a nice alternative. I also like their Jamaican blue mountain beans. However the median roast is probably a bit strong for the pour over method we use. But that is just my personal preference. I ordered my coffee and Grandkids drinks and cake pops ahead of time and the drinks were ready and no cake pops. I noticed my granddaughter and grandson were not coming out so I went into see what the problem was. They did not have the cake pops ready so I kindly asked if we could please get our cake pops. They answered back very rudely. I'm sorry, but we're so busy we haven't had a chance to get them yet, so I waited and still they were getting other peoples pastries cookies and cake pops but not mine so I asked again could I get my two cake pops and the girl again very rudely spoke to me and she said how about if I just refund your money I said no I would like my cake pops so after a few minutes and very rude faces, they threw two cake pops in a bag and tossed them to me. I couldn't believe the way these kids acted. Customer service was terrible. There was another gentleman in LINE who said that he had the same thing happened to him the day before and this is not the first time it's happened to me either. It's sad that this is no longer one of the rare Starbucks Reserve locations, but it makes sense. I never ever saw any of the high end coffee equipment being used. I think this is more reflective of how Starbucks is really just a place for people to gather and is more of a drink bar than it is a good coffee shop. Like all other Starbucks reserves in the south bay (there are very few) this place is packed all the time! I am lucky if I can grab an actual table to study on - not the at the bar. I think the worse time to go is after school when all the kiddies come in groups and hang out here to do homework or just hang out. It tends to get louder during these hours (it usually is not that quiet around here). Not the best place to do work or study since there are NO OUTLETS... I believe wifi has always been kind of up and down too. They almost always sell out of particular drinks that reserve bar exclusively serves. The Good: This is a great Starbucks, with a solid location and plenty of room to sit both inside and outside. Both indoor and outdoor seating is spread out and the indoor seating has a variety of tables and chairs which makes it very popular for people to set up and work for the day or night. The staff is always friendly and the bathrooms clean. The Bad. It does get busy, especially during peak hours and it is difficult to get seating. So when you come in and see open seating you want, grab it before placing your order. The lines hear do move very fast, but the seating does not. The Ugly. It's close to the local middle school so beware if you go close to when school let's out (2:45 pm), you will be in a sea of middle schoolers.
