This Starbucks is one of the filthiest in Long Beach. Floors, bathroom, and tables were dirty at 1pm on a Tuesday. There were only two other customers in the store and the patio area was locked. When I asked if I could sit outside, the answer was no....without any explanation of why. I didn't want to sit inside because of how sticky and dirty the floors and tables were; but I asked if someone could please wipe down an area for my laptop. A few swipes with a stained rag later; I was using napkins to wipe it down myself. My tea was satisfactory; thus the two stars. read more

We were in and out of here pretty quickly. The young man at the counter was friendly and helpful. I didn't feel rushed even though I didn't really know what I wanted yet. We placed an order for the salted caramel mocha and a chocolate croissant. My daughter had another holiday special. Within 5 minutes I think we were on our way. I would have liked another shot of sweetener in my drink, it wasn't as sweet as other locations. I have to eat my words right now. I have been away from Starbucks for a long while. It seemed to commercial or just plain "bleh". UNTIL - i discovered the tiramisu latte (with an extra shot) which brought me bakc in. This specific locaiton is in my area (Bixby Knolls) and they are just AWESOME. They are on first name basis and treat you like you have known them for a long time. I know many places strive on this so its very much appreciated. Generally good service, very nice people. Not enough seating after the recent remodel, but it's not horrible at all. Also, the place can be noisy on occasion, which can be annoying. Still, this Starbucks is really attentive to customer service and has some fine, upbeat employees. They have regular customers coming in throughout the day and they love the place. One star for the blondish woman who took my order and the guy who made my drinks (04/28) because they were friendly however, I'm not ok with having to wait 15 minutes for two TALL frappes for my girls while they made two VENTI drinks for two other girls who ordered after I did. On top of that, my daughter who got the vanilla bean frappe has been throwing up nonstop after an hour of drinking half of it! The young girl kept complaining to the guy about being tired, how she'd been there all day and was giving customers an attitude and kept huffing and puffing. I try my best to avoid this Starbucks. I always place online orders whenever I get Starbucks, and make sure to do it at least 10 minutes in advance. I understand Starbucks is a very popular and always crowded/busy place, so I try to respect that and allow time for employees to take care of everyone has fast as they can. But, this Starbucks specifically has a system that can irritate anyone one. They do no acknowledge you. When you do call for their attention they will ignore you, and when you finally get you're attention it's an obvious attitude. The drinks pile up at the pick up counter and literally anyone can come up, grab a drink and leave. I placed a mobile order and I came 5 mins after the estimated time, still was not ready. I watched as the barista put my order on the counter and walk away, I wait about 3-4 more minutes before I take it upon myself to look at the order and notice it's my name, which results me being late for work. When I try to explain this to a barista, I get cut off in the middle of my sentence to a "Look, we are very busy". Not even a simply apology. Not only is the service a big disappointment, the quality of the products are bad as well, I ordered a strawberry açaí and it looked like the gave me the scraps of the dried strawberries they use, my grilled cheese that took forever to come out, was Luke warm like it had been ready for some time. As I am also there, another customer becomes irate because she has also been waiting a while for her order, she then explains that she no longer wants the order and would like her money back. The shift manager proceeds to go back and forth with the already escalated customer telling her she does not care about her concerns and still try's to give the customer the products instead of the refund she requested. Customer states she would throw the drink at the manager if she gave them to her, and what does the manager do? Give the customer the drink anyways, so as the customer promised, she threw the drink at her. The situation could have been avoided and was poorly handled by the staff manager. The only reason I went to this Starbucks this day is because it was the closest to me and I did not want to be late for work. But, I will no longer be back at this location again. read more

This store is near my house, so out of convenience, I have continued returning here, even though my visit is always far from satisfactory. It's usually pretty busy, so I take my items and move on with my day. But this most recent time I'm pretty disgusted at the disarray and filth of this store, as well as the customer service and quality of my beverages, so at this point I must complain. My visit occurred just now, Tuesday, June 13th, at about 4:10-4:30pm. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly cashier named Mickie (she was the only pleasant part of this visit). The barista on bar told me her name was Brittany; I had to ask for her name since she wasn't wearing a name tag. I watched her make at least 1 drink before mine incorrectly. Then my two drinks were called out. My first drink, a Cafe Vanilla Frappuccinno was placed on the bar. When I picked it up, the outside of the cup had mocha sauce all over it and I went to get a napkin from the condiment bar, which was as I should have expected, out of napkins as it usually is when I visit this location. I then watched her make my second drink, an iced tea lemonade, which she didn't make in the shaker. I tasted the drink and it was definitely not mixed properly, so I asked her to remake it, with the shaker this time. She rolled her eyes at me, dumped the beverage and gave me an attitude about remaking it. So I watched her make the second one, this time she used the shaker to measure the ingredients, but didn't even bother to shake it more than once. This barista was being incredibly and obviously rude. This second drink she handed to me without a straw and walked away saying nothing, no apology or acknowledgment. When I asked her for a straw, she continued to ignore me until I asked her again. This kind of service is absolutely unacceptable. Brittany obviously does not care about her job or the people she is supposed to serve, nor does management if they allow this type of behavior. She was not in proper uniform, missing a name tag, hat on sideways and not even all the way on her head. Her hair was uncontained and all over the place, an obvious health code violation. And as I already mentioned the cafe part of the store was filthy, and from what I could see, behind the counter was just as dirty. Starbucks claims to be this community place where everyone is welcome and people are treated like family, but this store obviously hasn't got the memo. I guess I need to start with my disclaimer, I'm not a fan of Starbucks, I don't like their coffee, I never have, although I seem to get it a lot, it's mostly due to convenience and or being with someone else that wants it. My wife, yeah, she's a big fan. I gave this Starbucks 2 stars, and 2 being very generous. I came here with my wife (of course) and she ordered a tall drip, and asked if it was fresh, the guy didn't seem to know for sure?? So instead she ordered the tall "Americano", and I ordered the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew. Not having many customers, it seemed to take the "Barista" or whatever you call them now, a little extra long to make. My wife got hers then he went on to make mine. As he was pouring the cold brew into the cup, he spilled half he container all over the floor, he then proceeded to clean it all up, and I'm not talking like with any kind of thought that maybe I should hurry cause there's a customer waiting for his cold brew, but more like I'm chill and in no hurry. He literally just threw a towel on the floor and with his foot, started sliding the towel along the floor. After making a half dozen passes over the spill, I leaned to look at the floor, and all he was doing was spreading the liquid all over the place. He seemed intent on this project now, and walked to the back to get more rags, and maybe a mop? Finally he shows back up with a couple more towels, throws them on the floor and then proceeds to continue his 3 stooges act of sliding the rag along the floor, just moving liquid around. I'd say he was oblivious to the fact that he still hadn't made my drink. I think he had become so fixed and obsessed with this pool of liquid that all other things in life became secondary. Well now it's literally been about 10 minutes, and he's still kinda pushing a pool of cold brew around the floor behind the counter. Finally the other guy noticed that he was playing hockey with my cold brew, he came up and made my drink for me. He apologized and had that look on his face as if to say "ohh yeah, I know, I actually gotta work with this guy" so I just told him "good luck" with that puddle and his coworker, and he smiled and said "have a nice day" so all in all it took about 15 minutes to get a stinking tall cold brew here. If you're going to work with customers, you should actually act as if the customer is actually the reason you're working and getting a check. Every time I come to this certain Starbucks, there seems to be something in the air that causes a slow motion effect to the employees, they just seem to not really like there jobs, and feel it necessary for everyone else in the world to know it. read more

Hands down the best Starbucks location I've ever been to. I've been coming here for years now. If I have a question, or want a suggestions - they've got an answer for me. Every single barista here has their own personality and they are genuine people. I write this as I'm about to move, and I'm SO depressed because - as cracked as it may be to you "normal" people out there, these guys are my friends. I see them more than I see my blood relatives, they know more about my life. So, whatever judgement you have - I don't care - this place rocks, and even more so, the people working there rock. The location - Easy to get to, convenient location. Snuggled in the same parking lot as Verizon, a Quiznos that goes out of business and reopens annually (I detest quiznos but the hubby likes it...why? the world may never know..). Also w/in the lot you can get to Rite-Aid and I think there's even one of those little tax places there too. The amenities - unlike what someone else had posted, they DO have a restroom - it's just conveniently tucked behind a wall that blends in. Just ask if you don't see it! There's an awesome little patio nook that I've brought my pooch to (there's a little spot you can squeeze in from the sidewalk between the bushes). A little gurgling fountain and generally there's some people walking by so you can people watch a little on a nice day. The traffic noise isn't too bad - you can definitely get some reading/studying done outside here as well. Clientele - Lots of blue collar workers - nurses, office personnel here a lot. There's almost always one table open. You get a few crazy looking people every now and then, like out of a comic strip in the Sunday paper.. but all in all, no worse than any other Starbucks that I've been to. People have generally been friendly and non-intimidating :) Store - it's clean, relatively bright, but a little smaller. There isn't a ton of seating compared to LB Towne Center or Willow/Cherry. There are plenty of outlets for the tables they do have, which is nice, and the store is always very clean. They make an effort to remember you and your drink.
