Have gone here twice. The first time they didn't put any sweetener in my drink or the extra creamer so it was basically black coffee. Second time the coffee is almost un-drinkable. It tastes old and almost sour from being old. Starbucks is usually alright but this one is 0 for 2. read more

I think management has changed here because the new staff are terribly rude. No one is polite or professional! I used to love Starbucks and this location but a lot has changed including the staffs attitude towards customers. Drive thru lines are ridiculously long, they are always short of something, drinks are mediocre and service is piss poor. I ordered a grande pumpkin spice through the drive thru. They handed me my drink and I drove about 10 minutes before I picked it up to try it. I took off the lid and it was only half full! I stopped here this past Wednesday to pick up a cup of coffee between work and evening events. In the afternoon the typical brew is Pikes Place. I went in to use the facilities, and then I ordered my caffeine for the evening. I picked up a Refresher in a can because I wanted something carbonated and then I ordered a Grande Pikes. Rather than brew a new pot of Pikes, which I would have been willing to wait for, they gave me the dregs of the pot that was sitting there. The baristas were event talking about having to brew a new pot while I was standing there. Since it had been a long day, I was tired. I should have complained and asked for a new pot. What really irritated me was that my coffee wasn't even hot, it was warm, especially after I put the cream in it. read more

I was in the store 12/21/23 around 3:30 pm. Now this is not about me, my service was EXCELLENT!!!. But I wanted to mention a moment that I felt the baristas could have exemplified superior customer service. There was a older couple ordering frozen coffee drinks. The woman ordered a large. Mind you the store was mostly empty, and this small act of kindness would have gone a long way. It was apparent from my listening ears that they were not custom to the Starbuck lingo (tall, Grande, Venti) She ordered 2 large drinks. It would have taken the person an extra 30 seconds to explain the difference in sizes. However, that was not done. When their order was ready, she was visibly and verbally (not rude) upset. The order makers were not as understanding as I feel they should have been. One barista stepped back and asked the other if she could remake their drinks and she shook her head no. The women kept saying "I ordered a large" and I just felt that this was a time that they could have explained to her the lingo and remade the drinks. Instead, they sat and drank their drinks upset. Later another lady went to them and explained the lingo to them, they were still upset but understood that this was just a lingo error. I just wished that the baristas would have done the same. Lastly, a misunderstanding with the older population of people happens and it would have been a greater experience if they had taken a moment to make that couples day. read more

Fifth time IN A ROW...drove up to order egg white wrap. Got to the pick up window and was told they were out of them today. STARBUCKS ! Quit worrying about how many Cops are in your place drinking coffee, and quit worrying about how many non customers want to hang out inside and use your rest rooms. I went to this particular Starbucks because it opened at 5:30 AM on a Saturday when I had to be at work at 6 and Chipman doesn't have a drive thru. I got a Peach Tranquility hot tea. It was really good, but very hot to drink. Since it was open Saturday morning, I was the only one in the drive thru. I got quick service. They lady even called me honey or darlin' or something, and I wasn't offended. I paid with the app and she had to take my phone to the front counter; again, not offended. read more

In what world is it acceptable to call a customer, "bud"? I travel for a living, and I've been to more Starbucks than I can count, and I have never been disrespected like that at any other Starbucks. I don't even blame the 20-something year-old who called me bud. I blame management. Actions and attitude always reflect management/leadership. Also, because I visit Starbucks on a daily basis, I know the difference between their coffees. I don't appreciate being lied to when I ask if they have a certain type of coffee, and I'm given a different type. The taste of the coffee does not lie, people do. If I order pikes, I expect pikes. Or, do the decent thing and let me know it's not available. read more

This is easily my favorite Starbucks in Lee's Summit. Okay, so I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks Coffee. I think there are better places in LS (really more so in KC) to get coffee, but, for convenience purposes, this fits the bill. This location is quieter, quicker, and oftentimes more friendly than the other LS locations. I've never had poor experiences elsewhere, but this one is simply my fave. I can come here and read, write, and drink in peace. Plus, there is always an open seat inside and outside. They have a drive-thru if you're into that sort of thing. read more

Terrible service! We had to prove to them with their OWN receipt that they had shorted us a drink ... how is that possible? They gave us the receipt! Terrible customer service experience - arguing with the customer, making the elderly customer get out of the drive thru line to come inside to show you your own receipt! Ridiculous! Small, but handy location with wifi access. Everything else is the same as other locations, coffee, large pastry selection, outside patio, tight parking, you know the drill. Friendly staff just makes the location even more inviting. read more

The only thing I can say nice about this place is that it has tables from which you can work on your laptop, however the music like any Starbucks is loud. When I asked the big lady, who I presume manages this store, to please turn down the volume she seemed snotty about the request. I agree with the others - it's a tremendously friendly Starbucks, and despite some pretty healthy staff turnover, they seem to remember names and drinks of many customers. I'm very disappointed and frustrated by their recent elimination of one evening hour on most nights. On Sunday nights, for example, when you'd MOST need to go get homework done or unwind from the weekend and prepare for Monday, they now close at 9:30. Who does that!? They made this major change in hours without notifying their regular customers, and that kinda bums my hide. But I also realize they can only do what "corporate" tells them they must do, and that's a fact of life. For a nice place to hang out, though -- or just drop in for a pastry and nightcap (an hour earlier than ever), it's a great place and a welcome addition to the Douglas Street lineup. read more

I thought this place closed at 9 on Sunday's so I've been reluctant to write this review, but after looking at the hours, I realize it's 9:30. Went here a couple of Sunday's ago and as soon as I pull up to the drive thru the guys tells me to hurry up. He didn't even say it nicely. Like okay man, you're closing soon, I get it. I'd wanna go home, too. But knowing you don't even close until 9:30 pisses me off that much more. I always go to the one on state line. I just happened to be in lees summit that day. This location is poorly managed. The counters are always a disaster, they always look filthy because they are cream colored so they show every splash of coffee and food. The staff is loud, disheveled, unorganized, and kind of flighty. I have not enjoyed one visit yet there this week. So sad that it is not in keeping with Starbuck's standard of excellence. :-( read more

I visited this store today before my homecoming with a few of my friends. We stood there for a few mins waiting for someone to help us while the man was busy serving customers that had already ordered. The women came out and was very rude. She treated us as if we were children and did not have a brain. She answered every question with an attitude and when asking when they remodeled she rolled her eyes and proceeds to answer with an attitude. Besides her, the coffee was amazing. read more

Came here in afternoon and there wasn't much people here. It's not too big inside, but very cozy. It's really clean unlike some of the Starbucks I've been to. The staff here is really friendly except for the lady that took my order cause she seemed really grumpy (like she didn't have her morning coffee fix or something) and was telling the barista that was making my drink that my order was "complicated". Usually my drink gets messed up because they add too little or too much milk, but they made it perfectly. Right amount of sweetness and milk. The drive thru is definitely a plus! read more

This has long been my favorite Starbucks on the East side. For years it was my version of Cheers -- the place I could go where everybody knew my name. Under the leadership of their former manager, Lara Schulte, and a handful of truly warm and caring baristas, I always felt connected. One day in particular several years ago, when I had only been in the store a handful of times before, I was sitting at a table with a friend, having received some very sad news. I couldn't hold back my tears as I sat at my table. A former employee who I shall never forget, noticed, and without making any sort of a big deal about it, simply checked in on how I was doing generally and patted me on the shoulder as he walked by. It was a simple gesture, that acknowledged me without embarrassing me or making a big deal of my state -- but it was powerful healing medicine. It was the single factor that hooked me on this store as my favorite, and I spent many hours here and bought a lot of coffee and food. While it's likely true that this particular young man just has a special gift, for connection, I nevertheless believe that leadership that models, values, invites and encourages such warmth will increase it. I felt similar care from several employees from that era of the store's history. Over time, that man and several other of my favorites moved on, as is to be expected, and finally Lara too -- to a store in Olathe I think. I don't spend as much time in this part of town and therefore I don't spend as much time here -- and so my affection for this place had waned just a bit. My love for it was never about the aesthetic of the store itself -- it wasn't anything special as compared to some of the newer stores. but the energy of the people Lara hired and trained is what kept me coming back as often as I could arrange. The store just completed an inside remodel and it is back to the top of my list as the best place in the area to sit and enjoy my coffee and my morning or afternoon activities and projects. I haven't met the new manager yet, but I hope she or he builds on the tradition of hiring truly caring and connecting people. It makes all the difference. I will drive past a Starbucks that's more geographically convenient to spend an hour or two in one that feeds my spirit and restores my energy. The new decor of this place certainly does that. I'm looking forward to seeing more genuinely warm engagement from staff. It's a common thing at many Starbucks for baristas to be mechanistic and detached -- so intent upon their beverage prep as to seem to be hoping to avoid eye contact, smiles and engagement. This store used to be a clear exception to that and it's why I made it a point to come here whenever I could. But for some time, it seems to have gone the way of the others -- polite, proficient coffee technicians but nothing special in the connection department. I love the new look and feel of the store so much I'm hopeful it will bleed into the feel of the staff. Fingers crossed. read more
